hard to imagine what he could have accomplished, had he have been even halfway healthy, I remember while they were in route to that first Stanley cup, the big question was always "would Mario play?" or was his back too painful, the guys calling the game were never sure, they would mention how horrible his back was, and that he needed help getting his skates on, and that didn't bode too well, that he would play, and then the word came down, that despite his pain, he would play! the man had/has a warrior's heart!
Their career PPG average is nearly a wash-1.92 to 1.88 and Lemieux played a good portion of his career with zero talent, his best season-88/89 he played with guys named Rob Brown, Bob Errey, Randy Cunneyworth and Dan Quinn, not exactly Anderson, Kurri and Messier?
@@cityofchamps66 Plus Gretz got to play the ealy 80s NHL which the goaltending was much softer in. When Roy came into the league in 86 everything changed goalie wise.

Besides his remarkable talent he also has class the likes of Jean Beliveau, which certain other stars of his era cannot claim to that extent. Yes the others try to come across with modesty, but it is not without flaw.To be truly modest when given such talent, a person needs to have a greater appreciation for the world around him/her as I see things.
