I know this may be for instructional purposes but never grind galvanized pipe because of the chemicals in the galvanized coating are very hazardous when breathed in. Also always put your bolts other in the same direction. And victaulic also says to put grease on the shell of the coupling not on the gasket.

What's the issue when the groover flares the crap out of your pipe? Is it improper leveling of the Pipe?

Not sure what you mean. We have never had an issue with it. This is all sched 40 pipe. Maybe your used to looking at sched 10 or 20?

Are you using the rigid 916 roll groover with the big lever? That’s the only groover I’ve ever seen that will flare pipe like a tuba. The reason I’m told from a rigid rep is the pipe flares like that when pressing the lever down to fast while grooving the pipe.

Combination of speed, pressure and flushness of the cut pipe.

I am doing 8inch sch40 and it just pushes the pipe out and cant get a solid groove.

It takes a bit of practice to hold it in and keep from falling out. I try to lower the non groove end and pull the pipe towards me.

In 35 years I’ve never used any tape to measure the depth

Tell me you are a sprinkler fitter without telling me you are a sprinklerfitter 😂 ffs

I’m a union sprinklerfitter for 11 years and I use my groove depth tape for every groove unless I have my groover set. I do service work so I’m constantly grooving different size pipe so rarely is my groover set. But when I’m working with the same size pipe all day I’ll set the groover. But typically it’s not set and I use my tape for every groove. Every service guy for the company I work for uses there groove tape. I guess we’re a rarity.

Speaking of basic, at least put your gloves on when working. Specially with angle grinder. But nice video, very informative.
