It is still possible to pick up a Rolex at an authorized dealer if you are very, very lucky. I was able to walk in an authorized dealer in Memphis, TN. and picked up a black dial date just. They had a few Rolex watches in the case for sale and I picked that one. They received a shipment and put a few in the case. I arrived when they just opened. I was lucky and haven't seen any other Rolex dealers since that had available watches for sale. It was just a lucky day : ) You never know so keep trying.
Only thing I learned on vaca is how to say “For Exhibition Only” in different languages

In the last 6 months I have visited ADs in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Vancouver, Manchester and Liverpool and zero success.

I love my AD. This year Alone, New mint green DJ, 41 bluesy, 41 Black Sub, waiting on the cermit, 36 mm DJ, XL Cartier Santos, and a BB58.
Just buy what you want through a reputable grey market dealer. Too much messing around kissing ass and spending money on watches you don’t really like.

It’s a milgaus , it seems like people feel lucky 🍀 to get things that use to sit in the case for months or over a year before the pandemic

2 of the ADs by me need appointments still to enter the store. It's stupid but some do practice this.
Airport ADs, specifically in developing countries in Asia and other regions. Don't even bother in Europe, they are totally locked down. But in Asia it feels like leashes are longer, adherence to rules is looser, and budgets are tighter, meaning the shop is more willing to get the commission off a "don't tell anybody we gave you this" same-day sale if you're a guy on extended layover who walks in and offers to pay cash for a specific model they have in at that moment.

The eastern and southern Caribbean authorized dealers sell them as long as they have them in. They don’t do exhibition models, as I learned that in Dec 2022 on a southern cruise. When I stopped in St Lucia I was offered one they had that was not on display, but I turned it down because it wasn’t one that was on my wishlist. This gives me an idea of a video to do for my chanel for the stores I found that sold them. If your subbies ask, they are available, but highly recommend they reach out prior to so they can inform the store of when they will be in port so they can hold one.
It’s amazing how strangers ask you what you think. Like you know all the answers. The answer is just go ahead and talk to the Rolex ADs and ask them yourself. It’s very simple. Most people act like babies that are helpless and the Rolex shops are their daddies

Yeah I’m on Long Island but I do go to pr a couple of times a year and only started collection real watches a few months ago . I’ve bought mainly omega and Hamilton and I’d love to add a Rolex I’ve delayed going to a local ad for that very reason . I’d rather pay a little extra then Wait half A decade .
tried multiple times in Europe (Vienna, Munich, Warsaw, Stockholm and airports), zero diff. than any AD in the US. If anything it was worse since they know you aren't coming back anytime soon.
I was able to buy a Stainless Steel 41 mm Datejust at an AD in Maui this February of 2023.
it is possible! just came back from my hawaii trip. talked to the boutique and gave them a wishlist. they actually offered me a few watches, DJ41 blue with diamonds, DJ41 blue roman fluted. and DJ36 fluted mint green. I bought the mint green!

Always stop in at local AD’s when on vacation. When on vacation in January 2022…I struck up a casual conversation and told them I’ve been on a list for the 126710 for several months with my local AD in Milwaukee. The manager took down my info and called me the next day and allocated me a -126710 on oyster bracelet. Long story short…ALWAYS STOP IN! The AD was in Maui 🤙🏻 This was during the height of the skyrocketing prices on the grey market.

@@johncoyle8191 Sure did. Couldn't really believe it myself. The only sad part was that it wasn't my local AD so it didn't allow me to establish that purchase history with them. Small price to pay. It's been a daily wearer since January. Was wearing my 16622 when I went in.
What I heard so far is that you need to live locally. In the UK that doesn’t refer to the country, but rather the county. Lists are closed now for the most sought after models, so that they don’t get completely out of hand in terms of waiting time. It does remind me a little bit of East Germany (communist days), where parents tended to order a Trabant car when their child was born. This gave you the chance to get the car when the child turned 18.

Of course you can, it's just pure luck in most cases. How do you think the watch shops at all the Airports around the world operate.
Approx 20% of luxury watches purchases used to be done at International Airport boutiques (pre covid).
I recently asked the AD at Singapore Airport - and then said if we get the watch we will sell it to the first customer that comes along.
It was the same at other major airports around the world - these shops don't have any relationships with anyone. So if you see one (by chance) buy it.

Best bet from majority of ADs currently is ..... ,, start your Journey ,, with simple Datejust. Maybe one for you wife (easier to get), then one for you self in couple months and only then you can and get your hand on Professional models :) Good luck

I’m going on vacation at the end of this month, one of the destinations is Aruba. I’ve been in contact with that Rolex store, and, they haven’t promised me a watch , they have said to contact them just before I leave. I am optimistic that they might have a watch in their inventory that I might like, we’ll see!
I walked into the Rolex in downtown Aruba last April while on vacation. They actually had a few watches available. 41 dj Wimbledon and a yahtmaster plus a few ladies models. Good luck!

I am not interested in modern Rolex, so this lickass circus is irrelevant to me. But the experience at Blancpain or Omega is quite different : warm welcome, available pieces, no police- interrogation or job-interview like sessions. So to me, the Rolex "dealer experience" is an additional reason not to go there, I do own 2 Rolexes though.

I was in Sweden last weekend, and the Rolex ADs only sell to Swedish residents. Same in Malta.
Hi and thanks for taking my question on an episode lol yes I’m a little bit of a newbie true lol. My email was mainly to start a conversation get a name to drop I was well aware I didn’t need an appointment lol I just wanted a name to tell a sales person I spoke to xyz . No previous Rolex ad experience although I did buy my wife a Tiffany Rolex from a 3rd party vendor.I realize all the rules about Rolex rules and they prefer locals I was curious if there was a way to talk myself into a back door so to speak .

I think sooner or later Rolex will move their distribution network in-house. I'm sure they are unhappy with the current model of ADs and want to control the retail network themselves.
Nope. U got it completely wrong . They need the AD channel. They may not acknowledge publicly , but they like and need what ADs are doing . Think about it , who’s actually buying half gold diamond dial with pearl dial? But ADs sell them with no difficulties and we all know why - by behaving unethically. So u think rolex is a saint and has no role to play? Oh well, if u say so

Most of us, well non of us have the relationship with an AD that you do. Both my watches were preowned. I love the older pieces and each has a meaningful story to me. I found my 16613 at a local AD about 10 years ago. I found my grail stickered non polished in excellent condition from the original owner GMT Coke in Naples Florida in September. Just stumbled upon it at Exquisite Timepieces in their window. I don’t want to be put on a list and wait for a call. I also don’t want to go on the internet and just buy one. I love the hunt, the journey and the story when I stumble upon or find my next watch. There is soul in it and it means more to me.

I've been there to get my Sub No date ( 114060 ) sized . Very pleasant experience. I did not buy the sub there It was a gift.
Based on your experience with this AD . Would you feel. My chances of getting another Rolex would be better.
Not sure witch model . Maybe an OP 41 or an Air-king to start and progress to One of the heavy hitters. Daytona, GMT,Sky Dweller

I agree, I’m developing a relationship with my local AD as you have been explaining in several of your videos and I can tell they’re warming up…. I’ll do my christmas shopping with them to further de develop it…

If you look through my collection of hundreds of videos, you’ll find a good sprinkling on a variety of other brands. You will also find that they get 1/10 the views of any Rolex video. People say they want them but they don’t watch them.
I love Marc's Rolex videos. He's like my comely aunt who tucks me in bed each night with a Cinderella story. When he starts talking Omega or Breitling, it's like he's switching the bedtime story to the Financial Times or German philosophy.
