Are you interested in learning more about how to buy a Rolex? Including how to choose the perfect Rolex for your wrist, the benefits of investing pre-owned, and more information about Rolex’s catalog? Check out our comprehensive buying guide here: www.bobswatches.com/rolex-blo...
Rolex is one of the world’s most recognizable luxury brands. While it might not be the most expensive and exclusive company on the market, it’s still widely sought-after for its iconic status and association with power and success.
It might seem overwhelming to buy a Rolex. They do require a substantial investment for collectors of all budgets, after all. However, if you do your research before you invest, the process isn’t as overwhelming as it might seem.
    CATALOG
The Rolex catalog is divided into two categories: classic and professional. The classic series consists mostly of dress watches developed for daily wear and finer occasions, such as the Oyster Perpetual, Datejust, Day-Date, and Cellini.
The professional series includes sport and tool watches that cater to various lifestyles and professions, such as the Submariner, GMT Master, Explorer, and Cosmograph Daytona. This category is known for its robust styling and additional functions not commonly found within the classic range. It also often commands a higher price, depending on the model and market demand.
    CHOOSING YOUR ROLEX
The first thing to consider when choosing a Rolex is your budget and style. It’s important to stay realistic as to which models fall within your budget while keeping the styles you love in mind. For example, the Daytona is out of reach for most with an entry-level budget. However, a timepiece within the dress watch collection might be just as classic without breaking budget.
It’s also important to consider how you will be wearing your Rolex. Do you plan on reserving your shiny new investment for finer occasions? In that case, a sophisticated dress watch might be more suited to your wrist. If you’re in the market for a tough, ready-for-anything tool watch, a model from the professional series might speak to your lifestyle more.
Do you travel often? In that case, we recommend the GMT Master, complete with additional time zones.
    NEW VS. PRE-OWNED
There are indeed benefits to buying a Rolex brand-new. You will be the first person to wear that watch. Additionally, the watch’s authenticity is not questioned because it was purchased from an authorized dealer. Another bonus is that brand-new watches might even cost less than pre-owned, depending on the model and current market demand.
With that in mind, it isn’t always possible to buy a brand-new watch either. For example, many of the hottest watches on the market right now are completely sold out on the retail level. Many can’t stroll into an authorized dealer and just purchase models such as the stainless steel Daytona ref. 116500 or the newest stainless steel and Pepsi bezel GMT Master II ref. 126710.
Many of the most desirable watches on the market require a years-long wait, which sends collectors to the secondary market, where prices are often double and even triple retail. However, there are also used Rolex watches that sell for less than retail. In that case, you stand to save money by shopping pre-owned, depending on the model.
That leads us to our next topic, where is the best place to buy a pre-owned Rolex? The top concern for most collectors is the watch’s authenticity. Buying from a reputable reseller is one of the smartest choices you can make when shopping pre-owned, and Bob’s Watches is one of the most well-known and trusted names in the game.
A 1-year warranty accompanies every Rolex to ensure it is in proper working condition. Additionally, every Rolex is certified pre-owned by an independent third party to guarantee the watch’s authenticity. You can rest assured that your Rolex is genuine and competitively priced when you shop with Bob’s Watches.
If you aren’t already familiar with the Rolex brand, it might seem like a daunting task to distinguish between the different models produced by the company. Take the time to do your research to ensure that you choose the best watch for your wrist. That might include reaching out to our knowledgeable team for guidance or even hitting the Rolex forums to ask fellow enthusiasts for their advice.
Buying a Rolex shouldn’t be intimidating or overwhelming. Follow the tips outlined in this video, and you’ll be well on your way to buying your very own Rolex!

Nice intro video, however do know that if you are buying a watch from Bob's or anywhere else for that matter, be sure that you're getting a watch with all matching serial numbers and not a Frankenstein model where the watch was pieced together from various watches as it will affect the value. I learned this the hard way after buying a President that I found out later had a Rolex bracelet but one that was not original to the watch and had been reconditioned. The same was true for the dial and watch hands. All parts were Rolex, but a mash-up from other watches that dramatically affected the watch value.

P.S. ofc, it is a joke. That's horrible story, mate, I can't imaging how hard it hits to buy an expensive and very desirable piece you probably hunted for a months and find out that it is not the thing you willed to pay for.

As someone who don’t wear jewelry or accessory, I’ve been wanting to get myself a Rolex watch for some time now.
I would only wear it during special occasions since my skin can’t tolerate daily usage. I tried wearing both metal and leather straps and can only last for few hours before it feels like I’m being restraint.
I’m eyeing the classic model and has an extra focus on Oyster Perpetual Explorer.
I would love for this to be my one and only watch that I can passed on to my family.

Yes, I would buy a Rolex if I wanted to spend money on a useless outdated relic. I don't wear watches because I have a cell phone which keeps perfect time. But if I think about it, a Rolex is the perfect way to get rid of excess money your don't need. Use it or lose it. So yes....I might also get a Rolex. If my cell phone battery dies, I will still have a Rolex on my arm as a backup.

I talked to my AD last December and waited and waited and waited some more. Then mid- May I went out of state to three other ADs, then in June went to two others in yet another state. In total, six ADs in three different states. I got a call from an SA from one of the three I visited in May called me six weeks later. She was competing with seven other SAs in her shop, yet she got it for me in six weeks.

Only things I bought from them are those two watches. I also got a Batman on jubilee from another AD. Briefly visited them end of June, asked for a Pepsi or Polar. In late July or early August I asked for the Batman on jubilee, got the call for it end of Sept. Only thing I bought from them too. Both are out of state for me, two different states. I know my situation is out of the norm, but I did the legwork, visited in person, showed genuine interest in watches, and didn't act like I deserved to jump in front of others to get these items which are in incredibly high demand. Rolex the most overhyped brand there is. Exclusive???? They produce 1000000 pieces a year. Grand Seiko and Zenith produce 35000 pieces a year. Both are technical better and are better time keepers. But most of the people are living in LALA land. They pay over 10K-12K for a sport watch, that cost 2K to produce. The rest of the money is spend on marketing and the overhyped AD stores. Rolex dump the watches self on the grey market. I sold my Sub years ago and i'm glad with my Zenith and two Grand Seiko's.

Ok so, I dont think I've ever even seen a Rolex in person. Having said that I'd like to buy one for my son, and I'm talking for when he graduates college or something. Something to be held long term and passed down. Like an heirloom. But I've been hearing that you almost cant even get in the door to buy one unless you've already spent thousands building up a history with a dealer. Is this true? Ideally I want the sea dweller 126603. Brand new, in the box, unworn, with papers. So straight from the factory to the AD to me. How likely am I to get one. Keep in mind, I dont mind waiting. I'd need likely a couple years to come up with the roughly 18K price tag I saw.

    • @BertM3
      @BertM3 Před 2 lety +5

I got one a few days ago. Walked in the dealer, asked for one and they happened to have on on stock which was probably pure luck. This bla bla about building relations with dealers and waiting lists etc is just bla in my opinion. Waiting lists do not exist they are just there to keep you coming back. Dealers are not allowed to advertise what they have in stock and have to sell retail over the counter. So if you are looking for a watch, walk in and ask for any stainless sports watch they will most likely not sell you one as they think you are a watch flipper. The reason I bought one is pretty similar to yours, I got some money from my parents, didn't want to just put it in the bank but wanted to buy something something of value. 20 years ago when I graduated I got a watch as a present from them, that I still wear to today. The Seadweller I bought will probably go down to my kids later as well. One thing to note is that a seadweller is quite big, not only the size of the bezel but also the thickness due to it being a diving watc. It wears heavy on the wrist. I have 8 inch wrist circumference so can take the size but if you are buying something for your son later in the future it's a bit of a gamble size wise. The 18K you are referring to is the price on the gray market, from a dealer you are talking just over 12K.

Wait? You mean there are still people out there buying Rolex watches? Why? Oh yeah my bad.. They are new to the watch world and know no better.
People their are far better choices out there I assure you.
You want a Daytona? I suggest a Zenith El Primero Chronomaster. Like the Submariner? Oh well there is at least 10 companies making better versions under their own brand for far less. Want something actual watch collectors are looking for? Well my first suggestion is pass over the beaten to death horse known as Rolex. No new designs is so many years. They change materials but keep pumping out the same old stuff.
Anyway look at Omega, Breitling except the POS models from the quartz era.
If you want a truly nice upper tier watch then look at AP, Patek, A Lange & Sohne ( one of my favorites) or Breguet etc...
Also there are some seriously new and cool designs coming from several micro brands. All of these are exceptional watches that are very sought after.
To be dead set and honest. A serious watch collector like myself . When you say Rolex, most of us say okay.? And unless it is a super deal that we can sell quickly we wont touch them.
Most serious watch collectors are going back in time to collect truly remarkable early time pieces.
Rolex is so over priced for what they are. The service work is extremely costly compared to other brands. Original Rolex replacement parts are truly over priced. Why ? Because of the demand. And those demands are from other people who sold their souls to purchase a silly boring old Rolex.
My opinion , but you will find many who agree.
