I've seen an electric scooter with a small trailer attached and a small dog riding in that. A small trailer could also be an alternative way for Chico to go out and about with you and save you having to carry him.

If you haven't considered it Brittany is a beautiful area with a fantastic coastline. Areas of beauty from Concarneau down to Pornichet, fabulous beaches around Le Pouldo in particular.
Hoelgoat and the valley of the saints is worth a look plus josselin chateau, I live in Brittany it’s beautiful so much to see.
I think you'll find they're thunder flies. We had them here in the UK. Bright colours attract them. Chico is adorable 🥰🅰️❌

Pity you did not go to Belgium ,its so lovely there..Your like me,when i spent 10 years touring 2005 to 2015 very rarely used campsite,always Aires or wild camped.
And always went to local supermarkets for weeks food and packed lunch.Just been sent a new E bike to review for when we go to France for 4 weeks September to October. If never been to Bénodet France,its our favourite place to go,i have couple Video's of it,=2 tigers fighting video,its at the end there debs xx 🇫🇷....
we are disappointed as well but the thought of paying £30 to be stuck on a grass pitch in land with temps of 30plus degrees really turned us off gonna prob do out of season and in cooler months xxx

The little flying bugs, we get those in rural Lincolnshire. They swarm and cover you. You can’t enjoy a drink or food outside because they cover everything. They are called Thrips.

We have an egg vending machine down the road the local farmer has done it. Nice fresh eggs 👍
In the USA we call them no see ums and yes they are brutal. They fit through screens so you can buy special No see um screening for your windows. Safe travels .

I’m late watching your latest vlog (got our very first caravan and been busy setting up for our very first trip !) Those little nasty bugs are called ‘bêtes d’orage’ ( thunder flies?). I used to live in northern France and they all come out when the farmers are harvesting. They are HORRIBLE, so tiny they do get everywhere and yes, you do get so itchy. One year, I got one stuck inside my computer screen! And Chicco … awwww, what can I say! And he’s such a good boy ❤. Take care and safe travel x

My mum and step dad have just done 3 month in France in there motor home.. They was out eating one evening when there was an earth quake which they said felt weird but not scary. Enjoy France and Mark, get some snails lol x

Thunder flies are cold and you get them in England so keep smiling and you'll get through to the end use vinegar. That'll keep them off you catch you out and about Sam time after yourself keep it as they are from the midget
The flies you have encountered are thrips and are also common in rural areas in the UK. They are a pain in the @R53

Aawwwww chicco is so lovely and cute!! Those little black bugs are called thunder bugs, they come off the fields when they harvest, we've got loads here, get them every year, they're attracted to yellow haha. What do you do with chicco when you go into a shop? 😊
he comes in with us he likes to sleep with being a pup so goes in his house and over my shoulder lol
Get some Xpel bug spray it has No Deet in it....(.but Lemongrass...bugs hate the smell..

Don't blame you for not wanting to pay so much for these campsites - that's the same as the UK, and usually half the joy of going abroad is to escape that. We do use them but have to do it sparingly. What gets me is how it can often be cheaper to stay in a Travelodge for the night it's ridiculous. Guess it's just the times we live in now, but that combined with stricter rules for vans makes it a more challenging life.
We try to find the middle ground sites that are around £10-£15, maybe less facilities but a safe place to stay and relax, luckily there's still a fair few of those
yes we certainly don’t mind £10 when all we are doing is parking there for the night is if secure but 30 to 40 euro with no facility’s is day light robbery xxxxx
I used to live in a place called Nerja in Spain it’s amazing and not expensive look up the balcony of Europe and Chinese restaurants do menus if the day “menu del dia”. So cheap and lovely xx

OK neck size is 7 inches, as for colour black, blue or lilac (lol that is me trying to match the harness to his lead). Really appreciate if you can help us on this mission, as Shelby doesn't like the tiny harness we did manage to find him. As the harness has to go over his head first and attaches over his back, it's really starting to stress him out when we put it on.
