Thank you. I have both bikes and was doing the same exact thing. Your video saved me all that hassle. Thank you.
Glad it helped! hahaha
I just came across this, and decided to subscribe. I donât subscribe often, and Iâm very selective when I do. What made me subscribe? Your total honesty in an embarrassing mistake. Plain and simple.
Thank you David.
I appreciate your honesty Scott, easy mistake, shows you are human. I bought my Adventure from watching your vids. I just wish they had the Adventure 2 when I bought it. Great vids , well made, you are easy to listen to and you get right to the point. Keep up the great content , looking forward to more, I hope you have great success with your channel!
Thank you so much for watching! I appreciate the kind words and support!
I feel your pain. Last month I took a vacation where I rented an automatic trans car for a week. When I returned home to the parking lot for my own car, I spent about 30 minutes trying to get it started but it would not even turn over. I tried everything, or so I thought! Finally, my wife looked in our user manual to troubleshoot while I was busy looking for my AAA card. It turns out, you have to press the brake and the clutch to start it. I was only pressing the brake! I completely forgot how to start my own car in one week. The 60's are gonna be rough.
Hahahaha. Good to know I'm not the only losing my mind!
I value your "Head Slap" incident. We all have them but yours reminded me of my own moments like yours! I always enjoy your videos, this one more than others because of the humor but they are all good.
hahahaha... Thanks for watching!
I agree with you on the quality of Aventon's Customer Support. My headlight failed last fall and they sent me one for no charge as the bike was still under warranty. The Aventon representative was very helpful and did a great job. Thanks for the videos!!
Awesome to hear!
Thank you for your videos! I'm excited to buy one in the next few weeks. Still trying to decide between the 1 and 2 but your videos have helped a ton in narrowing to an Aventure.
Glad I could help! I totally understand the struggle. I do like the dual brake lights and turn signals (with the back rack standard) on the A2.
OMG! Thanks for sharing this. I'm glad to hear it wasn't a reliability issue.
Nope! Human error 100%
Makes me love your videos more man!
Just some old guy out here losing his mind while making videos. Hahahaha
Glad to know Iâm not the only one whom this happens to. Enjoyed your video.
Thanks for watching!
This is why whenever I have any problems I go right back to the original owner's manual and start from the top. Your videos are top notch thank you for all the excellent information
I appreciate you!
Thatâs alright weâve all done stupid things before.
I just don't think many people tell others that in a CZcams video. hahaha
When I first started flying drones, some of my best video flights I forgot to hit record lol. đ iâve reached out to Aventon several times, and theyâve always responded and been fair and courteous with me. đđ»
I've done the same thing with my DJI Mini 3 Pro.
Thanks for your sharing Scott!
It is hard when youâre used to things working a certain way and you get a new/similar/upgraded device and the functions of things change. Iâm sure there is a reason the changes are made but I sometimes wonder why they couldnât have been the same. Keeps us on our toes.
They needed to the buttons on the Aventure 2 to be turn signal buttons. So instead of power and headlight (left and right buttons) they are now for the left and right turn signals.
I don't even own the model 2 yet. Tech support talked to me for 30 minutes. Answered all of my questions. Who does that? Yes I am buying the 2.
This is another example of how customer service matters. You're making a good decision.
Thanks, great you are man enough to admit error, you may save someone a problem later
I hope so. Thanks for watching!
Oh boy, I am not the only one. Sounds exactly like something I would do. LOL, thanks for sharing, and thanks for the great informative videos. Waiting on delivery of my Aventure 2.
You will love your Aventure 2!
I have nothing but good things to say about Aventon's customer service. I had a problem and contacted them. They were very quick to reply via email and they immediately took care of the issue.
That's awesome!
Great video as always. Way to own it too. We all make those blunders from time to time. I've had my share. So far I haven't really had any dealings with customer support as both my Aventures have had absolutely no issues. I have a few other bikes but the Aventure is my go too bike right now for sure.
Yeah, after 1300 miles my A1 is still going strong. Now that I have been shown how to start it again! hahahaha
I realize my comments are coming a little late to the game, but I just got into Ebike. First off Aventon is giving a free battery with the purchase of the Aventure.2. Secondly I watched a video about door handles and how there is a whole thing with making human interaction with products intuitive and that may be why the power button was moved to the center.
Good point!
My experience was less that what would be expected. Purchased two Aventure 2 bikes. Both bikes either had a missing part or a defective one. Support responded slowly and then went dark. I had to follow up many times in order to receive the parts. In all it took over a month. It doesn't bode well for a company and a new sale to respond so slowly. In the end the parts were received. I like the bike, but my interactions with support, certainly soured my opinion of Aventon. Second was connecting the App to my bike. The account for the app is different from your Aventon account. Second the instructions in the manual were wrong. Support twice referred me to incorrect information and even an incorrect page in the received manual. Finally a third rep just told me what to do. While the first two responses just referred me to inaccurate info.
So sorry to hear about your interaction with Aventon support. I am happy that you are out on the road now and hopefully it's all smooth sailing from here.
I can't tell you how many times I've had moments like that... Keep telling the story, it'll be less embarrassing and more funny that way. I appreciate the honesty, and I'll keep watching :)
Thanks for relating. hahahaha
Had a great experience with Aventon last year . My kickstand bottom pad fell off when riding. I retrieved the pad but lost the bolt and inside threaded wedge. They sent out a whole kickstand. great customer service
Thanks for sharing!
Muscle memory đȘ
Sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes it is not.
Haha, I like the footage cut and the "contacting aventon" cut. Editing is getting better, good stuff Scott. When computers are involved, always reset the power haha. Lol, yeah the old A1 didn't have signals so it had a power button there.
Working on it!
Just ordered my Aventure 2 yesterday!
Youâre in good hands.
Aventon''s Customer Service is Super!! I don't understand the negative comments.
I know they had a time period about a year or so ago when they just blew up and grew like crazy and was understaffed. Now it seems they have worked out that rapid growth and got enough staff to handle it.
after youi video i put the battery in both bike . and try the left .center and right button for 3 second . still did work .
will have to wait for the new display .
Sorry to hear that.
I have had phenomenal support on a couple of different items.
Awesome!
As someone who's Aventure 2 arrives on Tuesday, seeing this in my feed made my heart stop for a second. Glad it wasn't as bad as it seemed, and hopefully mine doesn't have that same squeaking noise.
At least if it does, you know that support will help you get it sorted out.
No worries dude, any one of age totally understands
đ
hahahaha
Thank you for the update and showing how it was handled!
When I first got the Aventure 2 as my first E bike I was pressing all the outside buttons because I watched a lot of original Aventure videos.
I couldnât leave people hanging! Hahaha
Ha! I do stuff like that all the time. Good to know Aventon was on it. So many bikes and companies on the market, service and support are the stand out feature on any bike these days.
Very true.
I took my Aventure 1 for its first ride in months last week. I did the same thing pushing the I button the first 3 times I tried to power up. lol. then looked at the buttons while trying a 4th time. lol. And Ive never ridden the new model.
Ive only dealt with customer support and it was fast easy and very helpful.
Nice to know it's not just me. hahahaha
Agreed
I'm going to pause at 3:11, and make a prediction. You were hitting the wrong "Power" button. I saw it in the demo video, but my friend just got an Aventure 2, and couldn't figure his out after the Aventure 1. I'll edit at the end to see if I was right. 12... seconds... later. Lol! He kept calling me, then when he got that figured out, he couldn't program the app. Actually, that would be a great video for you, my friend!
You are correct. I was pushing the wrong button. 1300 miles on that bike and all of a sudden I can't remember which button to push. I did make a video showing you how to connect your bike to the app with my Aventure 1. Thanks for watching!
You apparently love your A2 way too much đđ
Right?! After 25 miles I forgot how to start up a bike that I've had for 2 years and has 1300 miles on it. hahaha
đđ
That's funny! While riding my aventon it also stopped working. I also took out my battery, replaced it back into the frame and it started working again! Crazy!
I've had that happen with other bikes but my Aventure. Super weird.
I think you were just too geeked with the new bike. Plus you have extra parts now!
You are right about both!
It is the nature of social media.
âą If customer support misses something, 99% of the time it is posted on Facebook.
âą If customer support is great do you run to Facebook to post? Uh, nope.
This is why in 2023 we live in the best of times ever in the world wolrdwide but everyone thinks we are on the bobsled to ruin. People love to complain.
I totally agree
I just came back to this video to share a funny moment I had today!
I decided to take my adventure to work today. From Melrose Park to OâHare (11.2miles)
So I get off work and pressed the button and no matter what I did I couldnât get the screen to turn on. After messing around with the bike for 10 minutes I did the simplest thing. Took the battery out⊠hit it a few times and slapped that baby back in. Sure enough it worked.
BINGO! I Was on my way home and I got a tan doing it đ
You were smart enough to take your battery key. I always leave mine at home.
Come on man đ thanks for sharing hahaha
I'm a hot mess. hahaha
Scott, shit happens but that is a funny story đ..
hahahaha. I had to swallow that pride and post it!
Had a problem with bicycle rack bolt came off bought it from a shop that handles Aventon they didnât tighten the bolt so it came off but Aventon sent me one free of charge excellent service đ
Awesome to hear!
So any update on the aventon brake issues because mine been sounding almost exactly the way it does on your clip.
Sure do! I posted it in another video but Aventon sent me new pads and rotors and that solved the issue. All good now!
@@scotthardesty oh so then that must be the case I'll see if I can do that then thanks good to know đ
I ordered a battery cover a black one for my green aventure.2. Just because I like contrast. They sent it out in 2 days and recieved in like 5 or 6. I think they're on their game !!
Good to hear!
Hilarious đ đ đ...yet thanks for making us all aware lol
Always!
Scott
Lmao sorry but that was funny. Two thumbs up on your videos and for admitting your blunder. Takes a real man to do that and even a greater man to post it on CZcams.
Iâm a bit older than you and I do stuff like that lol. Sucks getting old.
I am looking at the Aventure step through as I have to admit that Iâm not a kid anymore and my injuries over the course of my career reminds me that I should go with the step through.
Again thanks Scott
Thanks for watching and the support! The Adventure step thru is a great choice.
Hey Scott. I was thinking of buying an aventon 2. They had a sale going on which included the extra battery for a limited time. That was the kicker. Last week the sale ended and now theyâre doing the same for the commuter. Do those sales cycle through their bike lineup successively or is it rly just a limited time thing?
Its normally just a limited time thing. I expect it will be awhile before they offer a free battery on the Aventon 2 again.
Did you post an update about the brakes and that sound? Mine started making the same sound and i cant figure out what the hell it is and i also dont think its the brakes.
I did. Aventon replaced my brake pads and rotors. That solved the issue. I would contact them.
When you original said in the video that it was dead, I thought it had to be not using the key properly (as in it was stuck open) or that you were pushing the wrong button on the Aventure. I noticed in your review that the button was different (since you did an exceptional review) and wondered if you were pushing the wrong button or that you were pushing the button incorrectly (like holding it down for too long). So of all my guesses, one was accurate. lol
I wish you would have said something. hahahaha
@@scotthardesty And have you miss out on this exciting adventure? Doesn't sound like me...
@@richarddkearney hahahaha. Thanks.
Scott, i work as a CSR for a different company. When we have customers call in we always go threw the simples things. Amazing how little things are missed all the time. It happens to all of us. Side not, can you add a link to your wide screen monitor that you have.
Indeed in this case even make something up so you check simple things like this. 'We have different controllers for a while, you have the one where the left button has the on/off logo right not the other one' This way you don't make the client feel stupid (or angry) without any need.
I'm just glad it was something little and it was 100% user error. I love this monitor: 49â ARGON Monitor: amzn.to/3oOoMoH
LOL! I took my motorcycle in for service. When I got it back, it wouldn't start (kickstart only, no electric start) After 15-20 mins of kicking, I went back in to get a mechanic, he flipped on the kill switch and it fired right up. (I never use the kill switch) Talk about embarrassed...
So glad it's not just me out here losing my mind! Thanks for sharing!
I would have pushed all the buttons at that point. đ
hahaha. Opportunity missed!
Hello Scott have you had an update pushed to your Aventon Adventure slowing it down yet? I had an email from Aventon confirming they pushed an update to these bikes to slow them down. Wonder how you feel about Aventon doing this? I personally think it's a bad practice for a company to do such a thing! Can no longer reach 32mph in PA5. Locked to 28Mph now!
I am aware that they did change it. I see both sides when it comes to this. On one hand, Aventon wants to ensure they stick to the US guidelines to maintain compliance as Class 3 bikes are limited to 28mph, so they kicked the speed back down. On the other hand, as an owner, I can see how many people are mad that it no longer goes 30mph. Personally, I don't have an issue with it. When I am riding, I seldom hit 28mph let alone 30mph. I have not noticed or miss the difference.
@@scotthardesty I have no problem with them maintaining the app.....but that's pretty bold to push an update to something you purchased without notifying the owners. That would be like you taking your car in for repair & finding out they put a limiter on it! Or Apple lying about slowing down the processors on the phones so u buy a new one. Either way it's pretty shady & will only encourage people to hack it now. Please do a video about this, speed comparison between Aventon & Aventon 2. I love my bike just pissed about Aventon doing this to customers! Also thinking of buying one of those Melin hats......look pretty cool!
I have an Aventon pace 500 and my brakes sound the same.
Iâm wondering if I bedded the brakes correctly.
I donât know. I bought my bike from a bike shop, took it to them. I got it back there was no change.@@scotthardesty
I appreciate Aventon's customer support, but I was disheartened when they told me the Aventure.2's display USB port is not for charging - only diagnostics. The original Aventure will charge a phone, and I couldn't find anywhere in their documentation that states charging is no longer supported.
Itâs only been a trickle charge with my Aventure 1. I hadnât even tried with the Aventure 2. Good to know!
ok it was dumb... but it happens. What i find amazing is that it also teaches us again about what support should have asked you i know they don't want to make you feel stupid but they also know these things happen. What in this case makes the difference in my mind is the fact they knew you had both models and they CHANGED the button. They could and should have asked it in this case maybe in a sneaky way like. 'Maybe you have the wrong controller since we did change what BUTTON is on and off, you have the one with where the on/off is at the right one right?'. In fact they could say that for every 'checklist' call " We have multiple controllers yours is with the one of the left right, you are pressing that' just make things up so client doesn't look stupid but you did check it of the list.
Aventon support didn't know I have both Aventures. I never told the support guy. I just told him about my Aventure 1 issues. It was only a week or so later that I reached back out to support about the brakes issue with my Aventure 2 and I believe I got a different person handling that. I get what you are saying but maybe this video will get them to ask those questions.
@@scotthardesty yeah it would be smarter if this is somehow on their checklist even if they ask it in a sneaky way (we sold 2 types yours is turn on with left button right?). In this case even more because they changed it for some reason.
Also on a different note, I'm having the same thing with the front brakes and even took it to a bike repair shop to look over. If it fixes your problem let me know because it sounds weird braking with the front brake.
Will do. I had my bike in the shop 6 times trying to figure it out before contacting Aventon (silly me).
@Scott Hardesty Yeah I had my breaks aligned by a repair professional and it fixed any rubbing when I first got the bike but not that wobbly sound or feeling. I put about 16 miles on it each day and no improvement from brake use.
I don't know if I should wait for a video or go ahead and contact Aventon
@@AvidDreams make a short video video with your phone and sent it to Aventon. Mine is in the shop right now getting those pads and rotors replaced to see if it fixes the issue. If not, we will continue to figure out the issue.
All that stuff you bought. I called that a stupid tax. Donât worry brother. Iâm in a very high tax bracket in that area. Lol done just as bad. BTW, Aventon customer support Sounds like a pretty good team. I have also had good support from rad power bikes with an issue for my wifeâs bike. As a business owner I always try and recognize good customer service.
Agreed. I like to consider this a PSA on what NOT to do.
There is no support.
Just automated responses.
I have a broken handlebar switch and all I get from aventon is hang tight.
Did you try the chat feature on their website? That's what I normally use.
Lol thatâs pretty funny
It really was. So I had to share in hopes it helps someone else from spending money when they don't need to.
A very easy mistake to make!
And a costly one!
Well, wouldn't Customer service have trouble shot this with you ?....just saying
They did, but it's not like I was telling them I was pushing the wrong button. I would say, I am hitting the button but it's not turning on.
lol
I had to own it.
đ€Ł
Right?!
lmfao
Right?!
....again. why would it do that?! Great video!
Thank you!
As an original Aventure owner I saw that mistake right away. Being guilty of "already always listening" before I can empathize with you fully!đ„č
I was wondering how many people would notice me hitting the wrong button.
