I would get a W7 if they didn't come only in dual 3 ohm. 1.5 ohm would end up too low for my AudioControl amp and obviously 6 ohm is basically useless. I know the 13" is dual 1.5 ohm, but it is bigger and more expensive than I would like and 3 ohm ohm total is higher than I would prefer. I will likely end up with the Stereo Integrity SQL 12. I can run it at 2 ohm and get the most out of my amp.
I hear ya. But I found out JL HD amps make almost rated power at 6ohm, so I’ll be running my w7s at 6ohm. Less amperage draw, more efficient electrical system, and lower total harmonic distortion. SQL subs were my second option as well as the w6 but the 8” diameter fits better underneath the back seat of my truck.
1.5 ohm will run safely on that Audio Control amplifier. We have installed one recently. With rise, the amplifier never sees 1.5 ohm, except at idle. It's totally safe to run that sub on that amplifier.

I bought my amp from Ebay, so I have no warranty and really don't want to take a chance on burning it up. I am planning to go with the Stereo Integrity SQL 12. It has great reviews and is also much cheaper. I was considering the W6v3, but i feel like the SQL is a better deal.

I just wanted you to know it was totally safe though, because it says dual 3, which is the nominal ohm load, but the dcr is actually around 3.2 to 3.3 ohm, in most I've dealt with over the years. Hope it all works out for you man. I know the issues involved when buying second hand or through a 3rd party.
These subs are not dual 3 ohm they are single 3 ohm voice coil unless you're talking about pairing 2 of them together. 3 ohm is definitely a weird impedance but for SQ the higher the impedance the less electrical noise from the amplifier so more efficient and cleaner (better sounding) signal.
