    Khutbahs should emphasize on these matters more often instead of picking problematic (often inauthentic) hadiths. Should how beautiful and reasonable our religion is.

      The question is why are we struggling? Are we not looking after and loving ourselves? are we academically successful and knowledgeable about Islam (mannerisms, acts of worship, dietary etc) is our family following this path?
      I understand your comment so I think the best thing is to focus on improving yourself first. Love Allah only, ask for Jannah and whatever you are given in this dunya will be your Siratal Mustaqeem. We might be lonely forever but if thats the path for me to get to Jannah then so be it. (It’ll be a tough road) (marriage isn’t easy either)

    Dear Sheikh, I believe you focused too much on “norms and culture” Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala knows best.
    Dear Muslims hold onto the culture of Rasool Allah and his companions.
    I’m American and a revert from Christianity. I’m not consistently pious. Most Americans (and of them too many Muslims) make moral decisions based on the norm of their culture. (They blindly worship the materials of this world and the people in it). This culture is intertwined with strong influence of the evil shaytan. Actually we all know that there is no nation where the majority of people adopt the cultural norms of our Prophet. What a peaceful Nation it would be. InshaAllah. We would all need to all be students seeking a similar practice in the sunna which will confirm or deny the modern cultural act being halal or haram. Most Muslims here dont seek that kind of knowledge. Remind us all to just stick to the sunna and stay away from American modern culture. We don’t want our sisters and brothers deciding that it’s “attracting more attention than not” when it comes to dressing with hijab outfits including the hijab covering our hair and chest. We don’t want our sisters deciding to stop wearing it for this reason. Muslims in almost every western country use this reasoning. I tell them that in Early American culture women’s swimsuits were more like fully covered dresses. The Shaytan worked on them until they had very small amount of modesty left. Now, hijab swimsuits attract the most attention. Muslim husbands and even fathers tell their daughters and wives not to wear hijab for this reason. Be careful when advising people to follow the sunna and also follow today’s cultural norms. Be specific in what you’ve studied to be halal and haram in this day and age EVERY TIME you speak of adapting to modern culture, and also be careful when accepting this sort of advice. Every innovation leads to the fire. And I remind myself especially. May Allah forgive me and protect us and guide us to the only good path. May Allah give us righteous spouses and parents. Ameen.

      @Kamal_AL-Hinai Před 4 lety +6

      As'salam alaikom. Alhamdulilah for that you have been guided to the straight path.
      There is a rule in islam that commands us to take what is good, and leave that is bad in all aspects. In this case, we are better off taking what is good or islamically acceptable from our society and its norms and leave what is bad in it. For example, in my society, there is a trend where women would wear hijab, but only cover the back half of their heads, while the front part of the hair is visible. In this case a woman should not follow this new trend that is being normalised now, and should stick to the traditional way of wearing the hijab.
      Islam doesn't command us to isolate ourselves from the society that we live in. I gave an example from the environment i live in, and Allah knows best.

      Agreed 100%
      We are contaminated with culturalism
      A certain nation thinks they are superior to the other while both claim islam as their religion, leaving this way the healthy teachings of the previous successful Generations of Muslims.
      They were praised in surah Tawbah verse 100.
      May Allah guide us to that which brings His Pleasure and distances us from His Anger , Ameen!
