I love how every time John does SNL he uses it as an excuse to let his frustrated musical theatre performer out.
since he doesn't have anything to promote this time I think he just called Lorne up and was like "Dad- I mean Lorne, I've been thinking about some more musical numbers and also Anna would like to have me out of the house for a while because I'm getting on her nerves." and Lorne was just like "Say no more! You can do the February 29th show."
@@ArtemisScribe This is absolutely what happened.
Oh Hello is one of the best musicals of this generation. Mulaney is a genius

SNL heard us say “more Cecily singing” and they have answered.
yeah twice last night, she was also the Sushi Chef in "Airport Sushi". But I wonder if that one could have gone to Melissa Villasenor, I don't think I saw her perform anything last night :-/
It should be more singing from Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon, Bowen Yang, Beck Bennett, and Melissa Villasenor (and, on occasion, some rap from Chris Redd and Pete Davidson).

On behalf of Austria Why do you guys care about that weird movie? All Austrians know about it is that Americans like it 😅
This is my favorite scene in the movie for ... reasons.
This is one of those sketches they make look easy but the timing is so tight and so many transitions from dialogue to singing to dialogue. This is probably much harder to stage than it appears. Really quite impressive. Cecily is right on top of it, gives a masterful performance and looks adorable... just, really.
Yes. It really harks back to the golden age TV variety shows.
The best proof of how difficult it was is when John Mulaney fucked it up and started singing too early.
Wow, production crew went to all the trouble of making water drip down the outside of the gazebo, to simulate the rain from the original! Respect!

“Liesl! I know you’re freaked out but this is Austria nineteen thirty bad!” I like how that’s supposed to justify the fact that he’s a pedophile 😂
Oh, Jesus, the sketch is supposed to be scandalous, but a couple where both parties are either at or above the age of consent is not pedophilia. You are taking a serious issue--think a rapist priest with a 12-year-old altar boy--and dousing it with your own definition. Tolerance is not uniquely about embracing the easy and comfortable situations. Plus your quickness to label in a comedic skit is a bit pathetic.
The terms are interesting, actually! The term for grown adults who are only attracted to older teens (generally age 15-19) is "ephebophilia". For younger teens (people who are pubescent, but barely) it's "hebephilia". "Pedophilia" has the same root as "pediatric" and specifically refers to sexual attraction to prepubescent children.
SteveBowen Literally the punchline of this whole sketch is how creepy the older guy is for perving on a naive young girl and using dark humor on the subject which relates to real life issues of sexual exploitation of teens and even children. Their comment is totally appropriate to the video, even if the term they used isn’t 100% accurate to the situation. He’s still a pervert preying on an innocent girl, and that’s wrong, that’s not something that we as a society need to “tolerate” lmao.
