I became curious about this one and researched it. It was on June 24, 2022, in Tampa, Florida. The World Class Fight League (WCFL) bills itself as "Florida's Top Amateur MMA Promotion." Its first show was in 2012 (and this show was WCFL 32). The important thing is that, the fighters are by definition amateurs = not professionals. Next: the Florida Athletic Commission (FAC) is the state agency which directly supervises and sanctions all *professional* boxing, kickboxing, and MMA activities/matches.. It also authorizes (or doesn't) the existence and the rules, particularly "minimum health and safety rules" of "amateur sanctioning organizations" (ASA) in those sports, and then lets them alone to run their amateur programs on their own. An ASA must be reviewed every two years by the FAC to renew its authorization, and it is also subject to on-the-spot inspections/interventions/cancellations by FAC representatives, with or without prior notice, to ensure they are not violating their terms. To sum it up: it seems impossible that the FAC will *ever* sanction an intergender match between professional fighters. But a state-approved ASA such as WCFL *can* do so under its own org rules, provided that the health, safety, etc. of the amateur combatants is properly safeguarded, per those FAC-approved rules. Finally: I looked up the fighters on the authoritative Sherdog website. Shane, 33, had a 2-3 amateur MMA record before this fight. His opponent Gita-Marie, 34, came in with a 1-0 amateur record. Her only previous fight was in WCFL 31 in 2/22, also against a man, and she won by judges' decision at the end of the three rounds. It was also *that* male opponent's first (and so far only) fight. The fact that his listed fighter-nickname is "Chachi Versace" suggests that he wasn't taking this thing very seriously! If WCFL hoped to gain some more attention through this lightweight intergender battle on the night's undercard -- obviously they did! LOL
By nature, men and women are different. The man's power is greater than that of the woman. Things can be different sometimes because there are no rules in a street fight.
156.6 pounds of lean muscle vs 151 pounds of bad body composition (way more fat and less muscle). I feel like they need to have the girl weigh at least 10 pounds over the guy to give her a chance, it would make it more interesting at least.
Actually, nothing in this sport or in the real world, women of power can beat men of power, even in the world of sports do not dare to hold an event like this. A man of standard strength can deal with a woman of strength above him.. but a man of power will not be able to deal with any woman.Although there are some women who are able to beat men, but the percentage is far less than men beat women. If you ask women to have the same rights as men I agree..but this doesn't apply in the world of sports
