What would possess a female to think that she would fare well on the mat against a similar weight male? False feminist ideology that females are better than males even in physical competition? Females wanting to prove to themselves and others that they can overcome past or ongoing trauma at hands of a male by competing with and possibly overcoming a male wrestler? A female that likes to get roughed up by another male in a public setting? A female that just loves wrestling and doesn't care that her opponent is a male? I think this is foolishness. Even in a self defense scenario, wrestling is not the best way for a woman to escape or overcome a male attacker. Striking sensitive areas of a male attacker like the eyes, throat, and groin, or possibly attacking pressure points and working submissions and chokes if they're skilled enough, are more sensible strategies for self defense. This phenomena mostly serves to give male wrestlers a feel of a female peer's body as they more often than not deliver the girl a wrestling defeat.
