FAQ about "showering" and my hair: Yes we wash ourselves regularly and yes I do wash my dreadlocks, they actually only form if the hair is NOT dirty and slick. Needs to be dry and clean. Any offensive/toxic comments about our looks, personal hygiene etc; please leave them right below so it's easier for me to find you and ban you😉😘

I used to have really long hair and then one day, I shaved it off, right down to the wood and I've never thought about letting it grow back. It's so much less hassle.

I found that a pump pesticide sprayer filled with a mixture of hot and warm water was the best for rinsing off while cruising. I had a 2 gallon, which made for a great shower. Might want to pick one up at a hardware store as you travel. Even works nice after you get out of the saltwater. Cheers.

I was going to suggest the same, I live off grid, thus no running water, and it's amazing how nice of a shower you can have with such small amount of water, I think it's the fine spray nozel.

Beat me to it. I used a gallon pump up sprayer for 4 months on the last cruise. Mist, soap up, rinse off. One can do a shower in half to 3/4 gallons.

Too fun showers! Fully experienced makeshift shower person I am! Last was replacing bathroom. For two weeks I showered in a tent in my back yard. A dish pan of hot water was enough to soap and rise pouring the pan over my head. One can also soak your feet in the dish pan, which is my favorite!

I added a set of hot and cold water valves and an extra section hose that was long enough to shower under the dodger. It works perfectly and I never have extra moister in the cabin. It really was one of the better "projects" that I committed to. I felt brilliant in SE Alaska to be able to clean up while it was miserable outside. Even kept my hippie hair clean. It doesn't require particular intelligence.
It only requires a certain dedication, and an access to taxpayer's funds, without their permission.
The outputs of PhDs is on average very poor value for the taxpayers.

Luckily another boat was in the area and the guys had a radio with them and they were picked up by the crew of the other vessel. So beware guys.

Most important thing about inflatables is that they be made of Hypalon. In decades of going ashore the old Avons, and Achilles were top of the line. We rarely used the floorboards just so you could roll them up. Hypalon outperformed every other material when hauling it up barnacle encrusted beaches, outlasting the other materials by many, many years. Working out of small boats there just wasn't the room to install floorboards and such. Later when they came out with the slatted roll up floor boards it became a viable option but for our use we still just used a small motor and the soft floor. Zodiac used to be a Hypalon boat when Cousteau used them but in the seventies they switched to another synthetic material. The quality and durability just wasn't there. I bought a West Marine rubber boat in the eighties and it lasted one season before the beach growth tore it up. It was also a synthetic not Hypalon. The other important factor is the tube size. Especially without floorboards if you sit on the side tube of some boats your butt gets wet ( that West Marine was horrible). I bought a cheap Coleman air pump in the eighties and it would blow up my nine foot Avon in a few minutes while being very easy on the batteries. Highly recommend them if they are still available. They were about twenty five dollars back then at West Marine or other boating outlets. With that in my 24 footer I could blow the boat up while it was hanging over the side since my cockpit was way too small to inflate it aboard. That Avon I bought in the eighties is still going strong today. A friend of mine had another Avon and his brother had an Achilles (all these have hard transoms for outboards) they were inveterate beachcombers and were out every weekend on overnight trips all year long steelheading in the winter but using their boats hard. Both got well over twenty years (finally reaching almost forty in both cases). They didn't baby their boats, for six months or better every year they were rolled up and stowed in their back cockpits. The one brother had his repaired in its twenties by the inflatable boat shop in Seattle on Lake Union. Patching a few minor tears and replacing the valves. The one feature durable inflatables have is the Hypalon and the thickness of it. It stands up to U/V and wear so much better than anything else.

Love your channel. The catamaran concept is cool. I've had a Baltik 9.5' inflatable (made in Korea) for 15+ years and it has been amazing for both rowing and motoring. It lacks the rub surface on the bottom tubes, but has one down the middle. The middle is the key. There's a tube that creates a v-shape that provides tracking and keeps it from sticking to the water like a flat bottom does. It rows quite well... even with the shorter than ideal oars it comes with. But it needs a 5 hp to get onto an honest plane (I have a 3.5). Doesn't seem to be available anymore, which is a shame.
Your video production is A+. Great editing. Wonderful use of a drone. Nice sound tracks. It's a lot of work and much appreciated!

I have never been a fan of showers in heads. Especially those of varnished wood. The lockers always get wet and the scum builds up as well as being very hard on the finish. Two solutions both using the outer deck (powerboats) and the cockpit on sailboats. The best if you aren't equipted with a hot water tank is the portable showers using a propane canister. With a built in tank I just install a shower wand outside. Saves on wet rolls of toilet paper!! Even fiberglass boats with fiberglass heads are made a mess by showering inside and it adds moisture by the ton to the cabin. I have even set a five gallon bucket on the cabin top and used a spigot plumbed into the bucket with a valve to take a gravity shower. Fun watching you do the inside passage a trip I have made in all kinds of boats several hundred times. (Most were scheduled Marine Highway runs but many were in other rigs). It is pretty much a highway these days, in times past it was a lonely trip in the off season.

Crazy people!! 6 deg water dip!! You’ve got that all to yourselves, though the location is perfect. The first thing I did when I moved onto my boat was make the shower work and fit an Eberspacher hydronic water system with a fan heater in each head. I run the heater for an hour and a half when using the shower and that recharges the hot water and dries out the head. It works very well. I love your boat, you’ve an awesome job rebuilding it. It was an ideal choice.

We have lived on our sailboat for over a decade. Spent some winters aboard. We put Gortex on the bottom of our mattress. No moisture can pentetrate the mattress and when it gets damp we can just roll it up and wipe it off.
We need to get you a kite pump for that dink!

This may work as an alternative shower. I tent camped a lot when my son was young. Sometime we 'primitive' camped where water and latrines were available. I purchased a "Solar Shower" which consisted of a black 5 gallon collapsible poly bag with a valve, hose and shower head on the end. on warm days, the sun would heat the water over the daylight hours, and it was enough for two short showers. On colder days, we would warm the water on the stove in a pot, then pour it in, using care not to melt the bag! The opposite end of the shower bag has a rope for hanging off trees (or in your case in your wet head, if the drain works). Otherwise, hang it topside from the rigging.

Hi. I agree with your dinghy philosophy. l use my Spinnaker halyard and a 4 point bridle to lift my dinghy on and off the foredeck. l can do it singlehanded and l have never damaged it. Also, I have flip-up solid plastic wheels on the transom that have allowed the boat to be pulled up some pretty rough beaches. The wheels have outlasted 2 dinghies!😅

For your improvised shower, consider getting some 1 or 2 liter water bottles. Drill some small holes through the caps, then fill with appropriately heated water. Works great for indoor and outdoor showers in warm and cold climates on a boat, and on the trail for camping trips.

Looks like a nice dinghy. I just had my first experience trying to load my ft aluminum boat on top of my 9 ft high truck cap and it wasn't fun. I'm thinking I may be in the market for an inflatable that I can handle by myself. The True Kit looks like it might fit the bill. Keep the good stuff coming.

Hi Juho and Sohvi There are 12-volt air pumps made for large bed size air mattresses that would quickly fill you tuck away boat up with air, (I like your choice of dingy)The pumps are small about the size of 1/2 loaf of bread so easy to store, Best Regards and if you make it to Anchorage go skiing at Alyeska great downhill.
