  • I purchased this 700mm-wingspan Dragonfly RC airplane kit from Banggood back in September. At that time, it cost me $33.65 plus about $2 for shipping and insurance. It shipped from their China warehouse and arrived in about two weeks. The box the kit came in was just a cheap cardboard box without any branding on it. There was some damage to the box in the form of a relatively wide rip. Fortunately there was no damage to the kit and no missing parts. Here is the link (it is not an affiliated link):

It is a very basic kit. It is mostly made of EPP (expanded polypropylene) foam with some small pieces of plywood and metal wires and rods for control linkages and landing gear. Although simple and looks cheap, it is a complete kit... except the instruction manual, which is just a double-sided page in Chinese! And I could not find a link on Banggood website to a manual in English. Nevertheless, there are pictures on the manual and the build was quite straightforward.
Over the last several months since I have put this kit on my Banggood Wishlist, I have seen it listed for as high as $67.99 and as low as $29.90. I think it is a great RC parkflyer kit for $35 or lower, but I would not pay more than that. I think for $68 you can get yourself a much better and larger RC airplane kit or even a PNP (plug-and-play) or receiver-ready (RxR) package with all the parts you will need except the receiver, transmitter and battery. The total was about $85, which included a receiver, a battery and the total shipping cost.
In the first two episodes I showed the unboxing and detailed assembly.

In this third episode I am showing the maiden flight of this fun little, but also capable airplane. It turned out to be a quick, almost aerobatic airplane, but also surprisingly stable.

Thank you very much for watching. In the next episode I will be covering its enhanced performance with a proper electric airplane propeller. Although not my thing (more into gliders) I like the short series you do that guides new builders into the hobby. Nice work 👍
By the way I thought the 'Wheels' part of your CZcams channel name was because you did rc cars too, but it turns out your a biker - I'm a biker too 😁

I am glad you like them! Yes, I am a biker but I have not been riding too much lately. I am really getting intrigued by electric motorcycles, so much that I put a deposit on a Damon Hypersport when it first came out. :)
By the way, I am getting back to nonpowered gliders as well, so please stay tuned. There will be some glider videos coming in the next few months. Cheers!

A nice cheap way for someone to get into building planes

I agree; at its current price of $29.90 it would make a nice, cheap and easy first-build project.

I notice your using the Radiomaster TX16s transmitter. I am new to the hobby and looking to upgrade my transmitter. I have been using a Spektrum DXS that came with my Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S2. I like what I’ve seen of the TX16S and it has more features than the Spektrum NX8 I have been looking at. Would the Radiomaster be OK for a beginner to intermediate pilot?

Yes, it would be a great transmitter for all levels, especially the version with Hall effect gimbals (because they are so precise and smooth). The only downside is that it is so feature-rich and configurable, hence the programming may be a bit involved. That was the reason I started sharing my experience with my TX16S in these videos as I continue learning new features of it. Good luck!

@@PropsWheels Thank you. I am not familiar with any of the vendors that sell the TX16S. Can you recommend one?

I looked at your page and found the instruction videos for the transmitter. Very helpful! Thanks!
