  • Here is another episode of “Budget RC”. This series is dedicated to finding great RC deals through friends, local RC clubs and swap meets, local sellers on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist, eBay, RC Groups, other online forums etc. The goal of this series is to show you a sampling of budget deals for RC vehicles and equipment, as well as to provide a sense of what is out there and how much you should expect to pay.
I found this nicely used ParkZone Ultra Micro Pole Cat bind-and-fly (BNF) 4-channel aerobatic RC airplane at an RC swap meet organized by the New Hampshire Flying Tigers RC Club. I offered $20, and the seller accepted my offer. I think it was a fantastic deal (I call it a "steal"). I am not experienced in flying aerobatic airplanes, but I have been practicing lately. Thanks to its small size and extremely light weight (only about 35gr or 1.25oz), this Pole Cat will be one of my aerobatic airplanes that I can practice with in our local park. Unfortunately, this nice model had been discontinued, and even the ParkZone brand does not exist anymore:

I had no difficulty binding it to my RadioMaster TX16S OpenTX transmitter and setting it up. However, I had issues with the two aftermarket batteries that were included. Both failed to hold charge and started cutting off the motor only after about 10-15 seconds into the flight. So, I used the 180mAh Lectron Pro batteries that I had, and they worked great with this airplane. In this video, I am showing my first unsuccessful flight with the old batteries and my second flight with a Lectron Pro battery.
I hope you enjoyed this “Budget RC” video. We are constantly adding fun, exciting, entertaining, and informative content to our channel, so please subscribe and stay tuned for new videos. Stay safe and healthy. Cheers!

I just scored one off eBay for $80. The tail was wrecked but I rehabbed it and it's a great plane. I love the way Parkzone models fly. They were definitely ahead of their time. BTW, first thing I did was take off those ridiculous wheel pants.

Nice video. Those little planes are hard to film but this one stayed in view. Some things you can tell us are if it is brushed motor and gears and the protocol for the radio. I tell my bro in Cali. to find a swap meet to unload his unwanted planes. He's overloaded me with stuff to learn(it's like work).

Hi Gordon. Thank you! I will make sure to talk about the power trains and protocols on the next video, thank you for the tip. I think swap meets are great for selling and buying with very little time commitment, much better than online selling/buying.

I can’t believe u found one of those there like collectible at this point I had one back 10 years ago maneuverable old micro!! Compared to all the others I had, the polecat was the best or the umx beast but it had stabilization I’d pay 200$ for one now 🤣😂 just to fly it again like when I was a kid
