    Not for nothing but I have filled truck tires (285/75R16) to 55psi with my Ryobi, and this requires a lot more than five minutes. After two years the device works like a champion. I mostly use it to top off car tires and bike fat tires (26x4). It even works for those super-high-pressure road/racing bike tires that need 110-125psi, but you will need a presta valve adapter.

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  Před rokem

      I bet that was 10-15. That is actually why I did 35 in the test because I knew it would take a long time and I think most have a max of 35psi in stock tires. I'm guessing you have a 3/4 ton or bigger with that tire pressure. They have a high psi rating they will do, it just takes a lot longer to do. Good to know about the super-high-pressure tires. Thank your for watching and have a happy new year.

    Love my 18v Ryobi but the 12v plug in option on the Ridgid is a deal breaker. I will get the Ridgid unit for my wife's car. As far as the noise difference, could not care less. When you're on the side of the road on I95 with trucks whizzing by, compressor noise is your last worry.

      @tgltoday2717  Před rokem

      The 12v plugin is pretty sweet and yes, when on the side of the road the only thing you care about is getting off the side. The Ridgid with the quick connect and just pumping faster is defiantly the route to go for that situation no question.

  • @jmjaxson
    @jmjaxson Před 7 měsíci

    Very thorough review.....sweet. It's nice you mention the lengths of the inflator hoses and 12 volt cigarette lighter cord. To myself being that RIDGED is a hybrid is big plus. The RIDGED also included includes adaptors for other inflatable items as does the Ryobi. A huge plus with RIDGED is the 'lifetime warranty' upon registration. I've made one claim over the years for an expired battery and it was shipped to my door within three days. Yes, with certain purchases RIDGID batteries (and chargers) are also covered with a lifetime warranty. RIDGID honors their warranty well. Despite being louder, half the time to inflate with RIDGED wins me over along with their lifetime warranty. One complaint that I do have with RIDGID is that the stopped adding the rudder covering on the base on their batteries. Not a big thing but I preferred the added protection.

    One issue I noticed with the ridgid unit was depending on the time of year the PSI could be off almost 1 PSI, though it seems more common when colder. If you feel the hose, their pump gets hot quickly even though it has a cooling fan blowing on it, and if you test the air temperature immediately after inflating a tire, you will see that it is blowing pretty warm air that will quickly cool when in the tire, leading to a pressure drop.
    I wish they could have included some kind of calibration to compensate for that, rather than just having everyone set their unit 1 PSI above the desired PSI rating to account for the air temperature.

      @@melvinyosten3776 many modern pumps, especially the decent quality ones are quite accurate, the main issue is that they will have intentional offsets based on the duty cycle. On mine, if topping off a tire, it is pretty accurate in terms of matching the value on my separate sensor, though the longer the pump runs, the larger the overshoot is, though once the tire cools for a few hours, the pressure drops a bit and it gets closer to the target pressure.

I see the Ryobi can inflate to far above that. I am already on the Ryobi platform so I have several batteries already. Has anyone ever used this inflator to a higher psi level? I am looking to purchase a portable inflator that is battery operated and if I do not have to buy any batteries, that would be outstanding. I've gone up to 50 psi and it did it no problem it just took a longer, so I would guess you would be fine, you will just have to probably do 1 tire then let it cool down. If you are only going from like 60 to 75, you might get more then one in-between cool down periods. If I had a higher psi tire I would test it out for you, but I don't. Hopefully someone can help you out more.

      Given the small size of the unit, there's almost nothing to damper with and they all use oil-free, Teflon pistons and/or seals that are slapping against an aluminum bell, if you will. So they're all gonna make quite a bit of racket, no matter what. I already use Ryobi and have that battery platform, so it was a no-brainer for me. 4 decibel louder for much faster inflate sounds worth it... Pun intended lmfao

      HaHa indeed. I was thinking about it as I've used the Ridgid more and given they have the run times on and then give them a break before running again, the Ridgid will save you a bunch of time when inflating big tires if you follow procedure.

    the RIGID quick connect SUCKS!!! Just deflates my tire, never got it to connect

      Yikes. Sorry to hear that. So far, I've not had any issues with it. Did you try using the LSA on it? I wonder if you maybe got a defective one.

      @@tgltoday2717 actually I should take this comment down. At first I so much trouble that my tire went from 28psi to 13, came inside mad as shit, typed this comment lol, then went on a Reddit thread n another fella said he had the same issue at first but pushed the connector w 2 hands nice n snug n then slid the quick connect slide upwards n I did that w 2 hands and it was tight n snug no air leaks and filled up the tire from 13 to 40 psi on auto mode w the lighter plug cable in 3 min. So now that I know you need 2 hands to align n seat it correctly for the connector, this thing is pretty cool

    • @ekwinston1
      @ekwinston1 Před 9 měsíci

      also after I seated the connector to the valve properly the digital readout was immediately accurate at 13 psi and displayed the climb to 40 psi accurately

      @@ekwinston1 yes, anytime it's not seated correctly, it can't make an accurate reading as air coming or going which will throw it off. It's a pretty nice little quick connect once you get the hang of it.

      Guy's the Ridgid 8s on sale for $49 now. I bought just the inflator for $49. That is a no BRAINER price point.
      I have two 6AHr, two 4AHr, and two 2 AHr batteries. I keep one 2 AHr batteries on my Ridgid boombox. I think I may use the other 2 AHr battery on the Inflator.

    Is the Ridgid one brushless? Is that it is faster?

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  Před 2 lety

      I dont see any info where it says it is so I'm going to guess it's not. It does say it's the fastest inflator for a truck tire at the time it came out so I'd guess that's why it's so much faster. It's just newer and they made it faster. It's currently $50 at homedepot so if you want it, I'd recommend getting it before the price goes back up. I'm also liking it a lot more after using it a lot more.
