- You will know if you sprained your thumb if it gets bent back and then hurts afterwards. A thumb sprain happens when the ligaments at the base of the thumb get stretched or partially torn. Most of the time your thumb will hurt after you sprain it if you move it all the way out and in, or put weight on it.
It can be hard to differentiate between a torn ligament in your thumb and just a sprained thumb. Normally a torn ligament will hurt more than a sprain, but the level of pain depends on the injury and the person who sustained it. The best way to determine if you tore a ligament in your thumb is to see a hand surgeon, who can test the injured ligament to see if it has torn all of the way. They will usually also get x-rays to make sure that you didn’t break your thumb also. The most common torn ligament in the thumb is the ulnar collateral ligament at the base of the thumb. - Věda a technologie

I had a thumb injury lump as it got hit by football, how to fix is use your other hand to massage it up and down from side to side and fix it yourself do it the first day as healing will take place, also add deep heat cream for five days

Hello doc, if you see this reply hope you answer me asap, I sprained my thumb around two months ago and it hurt about two days and the pain just disappeared, but a couple of days ago the pain just came back, even though i can still move my thumb back and forth with no problem.
Right now the pain just comes and goes but not too much.
I can still grab things with no problem as if nothing happened.
Shall i go to the clinic or shall i just wear a thumb splint until the pain goes away permanently?
Also, is it too late to fix my thumb forever?

I was in a car accident and my thumb close to the wrist now has a large lump and hurts badly as I try to touch my thumb to my little finger and less on the pointer finger. could a hard grip on a steering wheel during impact cause injury? My right hand isn't as bad but now apparently has a weaker grip. I am wanting a hand doctor to look at it ie. orthopedic but the nurses and PT people think it is just getting old pain. I can go on and on .. but pulling working moving downward across the palm is when it hurts badly. I didn't have this before the accident .. there is a large lump at the heal of the thumb and close to the inside of the wrist (base of thumb by wrist). I am first time seeing a primary care doctor a DO but don't know what that means.
I had it X-ray and everything they said it was just a sprained but sometimes it would randomly slip and the mcp joint would hurt for a little bit. Should I just get another scan? I played a lot of volleyball and I tape the thumb always

It's most likely pain in the CMP, if not CPC. If it does not heal by time, you should tape it first (learn self-taping techniques) and you should go and see a doctor afterwards to avoid further injuries as you can make it worse yourself.

The ligament you talked about. The "outer" side where you feel the bone, is bigger than my other thumb. I went to the doctor and he said "skiers thumb, wait a couple of days" it doesn't hurt but It has a limited range of motion. Any advice, since I really want to go skiing again

@@orthopedics mine was injured 4months+ ago, kept pain and swollen joint on the 2nd joint from the thumb tip, but the entire bone on the thumb is pressed pain though not more severe than the 2nd joint. The wrist connected to also seemed pain somehow, that whole area around thumb is uncomfortable. Used variety of medicines kept at home, useless. Finally saw Dr. now with topical Diclofenac (Voltaren) 1% prescribed, applied 3-4 times/d in first 3 days, but still not stop the pain & can't move the thumb around, rather that joint turned red on the swollen area. Concerned it's the medicine's side effect, stopped a few days.
How do u think? Do u think this strong medicine will cure the injury like it treats arthritis within a week or severe, in 2 wks or a bit longer? Your kindly response would be really appreciated! ❤️

Answered exactly 0 questions I had. Your advice is basically just go to the doctor which I’m assuming people did not want to do so they watched this video. Like someone asking how to make a cake and instead of giving ingredients you say go to the grocery store and buy a cake.

My brother hit my thumb really hard we were playing a game of "who can slap the hardest" and he hit my thumb really hard and I felt a pain I couldn't move my thumb and it went far back, the next day I went to a doctor and I asked them if I could do a X-Ray and they told me no and now my thumb is really ugly and whenever I try to move it feel the bone inside make a Greek movement and it kinda hurts :(
I had a similar story instead i was playing soccer and the bal was going real fast and hit my thumb now it hurt so much
