  • Quick explanation of what is cheating and what is not on the 2020 AP exams: basically, you can use anything that does not involve collaborating with another person. Hope this helps!
The 2020 AP exams are "open book" and "open notes."
You CAN use notes, Google, textbooks, printed study guides, or any number of things that don't involve other people.
You CANNOT use FaceTime, collaborative documents, or in person consultations with friends.

It’s not so much intelligence but a person will always be able to answer your question in a more personalized, accurate way. Also you need to explain your answer, looking it up will tell you the answer, a person can tell you the reason for the answer. To be fair all you need to look up is the explanation, but that usually takes a lot of time, too much time to find the answer then transcribe it in your own words.

    • @dumbo.4608

To be fair, it's about time we did this. The internet has made a lot of the things we do in school even more redundant than they already were. Nowadays there's no practical difference between having a bunch of facts memorised and knowing how to use google.

Hey, Destiny. I would go through your course's Amsco book for the things you need to remember or recall the most (i.e. for me, I need to recall which Chinese dynasties were responsible for what for AP World History). Those textbooks are accessible online for free at the moment, and have built-in practices prompts and question. When you get to the test, just do your best--do not freak out, because everyone else will be just as stressed as you and panic-writing all the same. If you ask me what to do in-general, just try to be able to take a time period or topic, then name off countries or connections while saying what they did or what was important about them regarding that time or topic--not only will this show what countries, topics, or trends are most important to understand in that time, but it will also help point out areas where you remember something partially but can't remember where it goes, so you can study that. You'll be alright no matter what happens, everyone knows this will be a wild year for AP courses. Best of luck, Destiny...!

Destiny Brown Here’s my advice. Go through many different free response questions from previous exams. Then categorize each type of question into a Google Doc (for example, for AP Physics 1, there are problems pertaining to free-fall, collision, torque, etc.). Put a title, a picture of that type of problem, and the steps to solve it, including a sample response. This is really helpful because when to take the exam, you can instantly find the type of question on that Doc by Command+F or Control+F. Then you have all the steps towards solving it, so you don’t feel lost.

Don’t worry dude I felt like I’ve forgotten everything I’ve learned for the past 6 years and I’m still passing my classes. Usually I do forget but when a problem appears I remember somehow how to solve it even tho I forgot it the day I learned it. It’s sorta like how what you learn goes into your subconscious and when you need it information you forgot comes back.

Asking an individual may be cheating but Google isn't may be true, but those aren't the types of questions that'll be on the exam. It's really not even an open book test because there's not enough time to look up answers. You either know it or don't in the small window allowed. Period. Funny how everyone was going to phone a buddy taking the same test at the same time only to find out to their absolute horror that both had different test questions. If I were one of those students caught with my pants down I'd be bashing the College Board for being unfair too.

Haley Rachelle I don’t think that would be cheating if you’re studying together before the exam. It would be the same concept as learning content with your classmates if school were still in session, so unless you are talking to your friends while the exam is being administered I think you should be fine.
