They do everything the streamers and pros/devs want…..they piggy back off the content creators to pull the curtain over the communities eyes.

I paid 25€. I play since Beta. Has always been such a good deal. They seem really good about how they approach this and I'm gonna trust them here, take the same deal I did last time and then we'll see if they can pull it off. Ngl, I'm hyped.

Ive been playing Smite for 8 years and have a whole lotta skins. Not gonna lie im kinda scared to see how many legacy gems ill have upon release.
Honestly I don’t mind the new legacy gems but it would be cool if we could just get the skins we own for free once they release

This is how overwatch 2 should have been!!!! Not only keeping smite 1 open but allowing smite 2 to be its own thing. Its been a while since ive played but i may have to pick up smite again.

The decision to release as a second stand-alone game I can't help but feel is a mistake. Splitting the playerbase just doesn't seem smart IMHO.
I think it makes sense because it's a totally new engine. If support isn't dropped immediately, it'll give us time to move generations if need be
Smite 1 will eventually be discontinued probably a year or two after Smite 2 is an official release. They won’t force anyone to move over until it’s stable.
It’s like StarCraft 1 and 2, you can still play both games to this day.

Very excited for Smite 2 but you're exaggerating how "good" legacy gems are. Regardless of whether or not you buy the Founders pack, those gems can only be used on 50% of ""most" in-game purchases.
You're not getting the original value of your gems. You're getting a half-off coupon, meaning you'll have to buy Smite 2 gems for any purchase.

I wonder how little nuamced interactions are going to change in Smite 2. One example is that Odin can be stunned out of his leap the moment be lands, and it prevents his damage.

Yes but Smite 2 will have the majority of players, there will be zero reason to play Smite 1 when Smite 2 releases. Hi-Rez will most likely shut down the servers after a year or so.

i played SMITE all the time as my main game way back in 2013 and for a few years after, then ended up finally quitting and moving on. I was never far away, I loosely paid attention to some gods releasing and big news, and just happened to encounter this massive news. I think I’ll definitely have to come back for SMITE 2
Unreal Engine 3 is almost 20 damn years old. Seeing the game get an engine update will do so much for the ridiculous amounts of spaghetti code that exists.

I really hope making the game from the ground up get rid of the spagetti code. I'm tired of they releasing a new god and for some reason an item loses it's passive
I want to be excited for this but ALL old skins just getting deleted, the game not launching with all Gods available, and what would undoubtedly be the community getting split even more kinda kills quite a bit of that excitement for me tbh. I feel like bare minimum, Tier 5 skins (the ones people dropped $50-100 on), should transfer over. I will likely be sticking to SMITE 1 as the main and occasionally play SMITE 2. Over 10 years of content lost is just not for me.
As someone who's been playing for 10+ years, it feels like a slap in the face. I will be sticking to the original. I have about 1000 skins and a good amount of T5/Limited skins.
I feel like they need to make those gems 100% not 50 it’s the least they can do in my opinion

@@Tungstenfungus That's literally what happens when you spend money on games. If Smite died and they had to shutdown you wouldn't get your money back. At least you will be able to play smite 1 after realease.

Someone explain the gems to me. I get my gems back, BUT can only use them to pay 50% of MOST not all of a cost? So I STILL need to rebuy my skins?
Any gem you've ever purchased on a skin and etc you'll get back in smite 2. The skins are essentially all gone besides like I belive t5s and some t4 skins. But mastery and stars you'll keep. But overall skins aren't transferring unless they remake it from scratch.
To sum it up: Every Gem you've ever purchased or earned for free in Smite 1 will be given to you in Smite 2 as Legacy Gems. These Legacy Gems can be used in purchases such as Battle Passes, "event" bundles, and skins, however they can only be used to cover •half• of the cost.
So, essentially, the community that has spent years of their time and hard-earned money on Smite 1 will be given a 50% Off coupon that lasts for as long as they have Legacy Gems to spend. You still have to buy regular Gems, that might still only come in oddly-priced bundles, with actual money in order to cover the cost of the complete purchase of a Battle Pass, "event" bundle, or skin, and maybe even those lovely RNG chest rolls that they'll most likely bring back in.

all gems is nice but the 50% aspect does still feel gross. i definitely get the reason they couldnt port the old skins, completely unreasonable to expect them to recreate everything

The only thing I don’t understand and maybe someone can explain it to me. But how is it that it takes them 1 to 2 weeks to add an existing god from smite1 over to Smite 2. But it would them 2 months to add a skin from smite1 over to smite2?… that seems odd.
adding existing gods is likely a higher priority for them, so more resources go into churning out the gods themselves as fast as possible while skins transferring is more of a back-burner activity so has a smaller team. keep in mind that a lot of skins have unique effects, so its almost like adding a new god each time the design/effect team gets a new skin to implement, they just don't have to worry as much about the underlying mechanics as the god porting team does

Each time I look at Smite 2 i keep growing with more and more excitement but I'm still a little bummed and kinda confused at the new item system. I personally wish they'd keep it the old way but I get that its a new game and will of course give it a chance. I just liked how items all had their own purpose and a tree that they belonged to and if you saw them build into that tree, you generally had an idea of what they were gonna go. Also I really hope that my auto attacks won't bug out and get out of sync with this new Smite lol

Now in contrast, Grinding Gear Games, the developers of Path of Exile, have assured their community that they will receive *full skin transfers* from Path of Exile 1 to Path of Exile 2. If a skin isn't available in PoE 2, a *full refund* in in-game coins will be offered. Now THAT is _extremely_ generous. It shows respect to the financial contributions of the players and helps maintain a sense of continuity and loyalty.
What Hi-Rez decided on was very much a bare minimum decision for a company and community that has been going on for 10 years together and the uproar that followed is proof of player dissatisfaction.

so ive been surfing around youtube since this announcement. as someone who only tried it for a bit when it first came out. at the time i was falling out of league of legends think season 3? or something and was trying other mobas like dota, infinite crisis (which got cancelled rip) and smite. i thought the concept of it was really cool being a more actiony moba because its third person. unfortunately didnt stick with me because falling out of moba in general and school at the time. gotta say this looks really cool will give this one a try for sure hopefully it feels less janky than when i first tried smite. the updated visuals and sounds hopefully make it feel more impactful, gameplay felt fine

I LOVE this. But please, keep the game modes we have for options, transfer T5 skins, start doing adventure events again and slowly transition players to Smite 2. It’s time to move on from Smite 1. The haters can get over it.

So you can only use legacy gems to cover half the cost of new purchases? So if I've bought 100,000 gems over the years, I have to purchase 100,000 new gems to truly use all my legecy gems I've accumulated? Not sure I like that, should be able to fully purchase new items with them

They said the founders pack will double your legacy gems. Meaning it's a 1:1 transfer. Unfortunate that you have to spend a bit to get that, but considering it's retroactive for EVERY gem you have ever purchased, that's pretty generous on their end.
