- India: Crowdfunding Helps Toddler Get Life-saving Jab | Vantage with Palki Sharma
In India, crowdfunding has helped a toddler get a life-saving $2 million jab. From a cricketer and an actor to vegetable sellers and shopkeepers- people came together to raise money for the 22-month-old boy who suffers from a rare genetic disorder. Crowdfunding refers to raising money from a large group of people. Online crowdfunding came into popularity about a decade ago. And today, the global crowdfunding market is worth $1.4 billion, according to reports. Crowdfunding can raise funds in desperate times, build communities, and help spread a message to a wider audience. But there are downsides to crowdfunding as well, including, scams and frauds, funding for wrong reasons like terrorism, and the lack of regulation. Palki Sharma brings you the report.

There is still some humanity left in this world 😍
I am so glad this little boy (or girl?) is saved by good people that are willing to step in and help, *unlike the current government that does NOTHING* for him and millions of other children in India.
We should make these medicines in India.
Yes, 100% agreed with you. 7 crore rupees for 1 medicine, this is mind boggling. 99.99% Indian's could never afford this medicine.
What made you think we don't? India is really good at pharmacy
Last year we also collected 30 lakhs for brain surgery of our batchmate father😊
Palki is a best reader as follows nationalism
What a great story. It doesn’t get better than this for a news story. I hope this channel never goes woke. I love this lady.
Why is a single life saving injection so expensive? Govt needs to put a cap on the amount any life saving medication.
Because of patent laws. And capitalist who want profit.
Govt should intervene in such cases.. instead of giving freebies.
But the question to be mainly dealt with the cost of the medicine
Such cost ....Dear God...Hence proved the Government Hospital is useless.
India should invest in making this jab at home and at affordable prices.
Indian child death rate is among the highest in the world.
It's not even 2
What about Milap and ketto?
Trustworthy?
I read Jab as Job
The pharmaceutical company is rulling the world
What is the contribution of the pharma industry ..O
In one way or another, there needs to be medical care. We have government based health insurance for those in the BPL margins. For middle class it is still a struggle. This is an issue. On top of this, a typical health insurance should also insure the children against such rare diseases unheard of, if not just to reduce the massive medication costs like in this case. This is a serious issue. Since ABHA is now almost everywhere this platform could be utilized to introduce the suggestive government health insurance whether it is state or central to the ABHA member. This ensures and streamlines the process for them. This also would exemplify India as one of the developing countries with great healthcare.
Bro the price of injection is too much high Rs 17cr+ is no joke
@@singularity3021 I know. There will likely always be need for such platforms like Milaap and gofundme because of this. But then again, I am saying middle class families in great number do not have at the moment proper cheap healthcare by government that allows some operations covered based on the family income. And that should change hopefully.
