  • China Wants to Rescue its Housing Market. Will Beijing Succeed? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
With more than seven million homes sitting empty, China's housing market is in a dire need of a rescue. Today, Beijing finally decided to pull the trigger. Chinese authorities have announced a broad rescue package - which lowers the down payment requirements and encourages local governments to buy unsold apartments. Will the plan work? Some experts are skeptical. They feel Beijing won't have enough money to help all distressed developers. Palki Sharma tells you more about the growing crisis within China's property sector.

      Article:
*Govt Building Homes That Poor Do Not Want*
_"Over 10 years, the central government spent Rs 21,482 crore ($3.2 billion) building houses for the urban poor but 23% of them are vacant, according to this May 2016 answer to the Lok Sabha (lower house of Parliament)."_
_"The information that 238,448 of 1,032,433 houses built are empty comes at a time when the proportion of Indians living in slums has risen over five years from 17% of the urban population to 19%, according to official data, and 19,000 of 33,000 slums are not acknowledged by the government"_
_"In spite of the continuous efforts by the government, slum dwellers are reluctant to move to the houses built by the government due to lack of proper infrastructure and means of livelihood,” the statement to Parliament said, explaining further that the new houses often lack electricity and water, cheaply available--often through illegal connections--in slums. The new houses are usually not close to workplaces, the ministry acknowledged."_

That why those without no idea really should do some research instead of just listen to Palki.
The crux of issue is there is "requirement" those mad developer kept building cause there demand for it by "those moving to city" when city economy getting better more move from rural places.
At beginning there demand more then supply it causes the housing prices went sky high but then problem occur when the houses meet the demand of those live in new type of "buyer" appear.
As prices kept going high year by year more people see it as best place to put money in as asset so "investor buy" it as 2nd then 3rd, so the requirement to kept building more and more even if no one live in it.
There rest it what happen now, China gov notice the problem and took action only time will tell if there success or not.

Two earlier smart moves by Chinese premiers:
What was the sparrow famine in China?
The extermination of sparrows - also known as the smash sparrows campaign (Chinese: 打麻雀运动; pinyin: dǎ máquè yùndòng) or the eliminate sparrows campaign (Chinese: 消灭麻雀运动; pinyin: xiāomiè máquè yùndòng) - resulted in severe ecological imbalance, being one of the causes of the Great Chinese Famine of 1959-1961.
What were the negative outcomes of the Great Leap Forward and the steel production by 1959?
Instead of stimulating the country's economy, The Great Leap Forward resulted in mass starvation and famine. It is estimated that between 30 and 45 million Chinese citizens died due to famine, execution, and forced labor, along with massive economic and environmental destruction.

India has more babies and younger demographic. When those people have grown up, there will be huge demand like China in 1990s.
There is a supply problem for India. Not a demand. China domestic consumption is lower than boom time. Population is declining after Covid.
China does not have a lot of young people. China likes a Japan in 1980s which has over invested in real estate.
Over capacity of buildings and manufacturing cause the slow growth and very high debt for PRC.
