  • I had the first generation Triumph Street Triple (2007-2011). This 105hp, 167kg, 675cc naked middleweight was based on the Triumph Daytona and hugely pushed on the naked middleweight sector. It was a game changer of a bike.

mate, cracking vlog from you both yet again and the way you create your reviews from a position of pure passion. I have owned a few trumpets over the years my first being the MK1 2006 Daytona 675, 2012 Speed triple, several Tiger 800xc's and the latest as you know being the bike you have just thrown your leg over. I've owned this particular bike for just over a year now and I couldn't be happier with how it rides and your explanation just hits every nail on the head. The bike originally was bought with continental enduro tires and no front fender which offered a unique Cafe racer style but for me and the riding I wanted to do those tires were way to sketchy in the damp and so swapped out for rubber currently on. I am a die hard triumph fan for many reasons which started with with my older brother David rolling up on his brand new TD595 in glorious red and from that day I was hooked. The characteristics of the 675 motor and indeed this bike when hitting the tapas tarmac available on this island never fails to create a grin like a Cheshire Cat. As you said, it just doesn't feel like a 15yr old machine and a big thanks to you and Monika for this passionate piece of footage and to of course to John Bloor for many many kilometre's of incredible joy aboard his fantastic Triumph machinery. When we off for a spirited ride again lad🏍🏍😁

@@stuckintheeighties487 thanks very much. When Freddie said he wanted to do a review on the street triple 675 I instantly offered mine. The contrast I have is from my very first triumph the 06 Daytona 675 when I was younger to now riding this 09 street triple which I thoroughly enjoy and is just perfect for the roads available in Tenerife and my added years ha. Its such a joy to own and as Monika attested even suitable for a pillion and my girlfriend is more than happy on the back exploring this and neighbouring islands. Triumph really did re invent themselves to the fullest with these 2 models and have since created some fantastic motorbikes. think im stuck in the nineties for a while 😁👍

@@paultomlinson3436 you're welcome Paul, the bike is a credit to you. I've never owned a triumph but I've wanted a street triple since they were launched. Probably the only new bike I'd ever wanted to own, I imagine they're a lot of fun to ride. Freddies vlog has rekindled that thought, if a decent early bike comes up I'd be tempted...I do have 3 bikes from the 80's, an 84 gpz900r, an 87 fzr1000, and an 89 rd350 ypvs. I love this era of bikes.(well I am stuck in the 80s!)

Really like the way you talk about these second hand bikes. I like how you point out that this was a sweet spot in history where the bike is as good as it needs to get. I bought one in Roulette Green in 2009.Still got it now, with 50,000 miles on the clock(I also have a 2006 Speed Triple).Absolutely brilliant bike.Mine has Mivv Suono cans. They do tend to burn stators out(But not as bad as the Speed Triple which eats them ) but I always have a Gammatronix battery charge indicator fitted for peace of mind.If I knew then what I know now I would have bought the 'R' model as the suspension tends to go soggy and is non adjustable.I have done the recommended fix by fitting the rear shock off a Honda CBR 600 RR which just needs a few spacers for the linkage and some longer bolts.Anyway riding the Street Triple is always a joy...that engine is a masterpiece! It's a great bike for a sunny afternoon blast.

Great vid Freddie, that 675 engine is truly a groundbreaking engine for Triumph. I was at a presentation at Triumph last night, the very first 1901 bike, the Millionth Tiger 900 and the half Millionth Speed Triple that Ross Noble rode around England.
Was lucky to chat to Triumph's former head of engineering responsible for the design and development of nearly all modern Triumph models. He told me every triple currently in production is a development of that original Daytona engine. That Millionth bike has a longer stroke variation of the engine in your test ride bike. Stunning bike that my wife also owns and loves.

CZcams recommended this video to me today. I bought my first bike, a gen 1 striple in their signature pearlescent green in July 2021. I paid £4000 from a dealer, she had 24000 miles with part service history, I’ve done 6000 miles and had her serviced twice. She is completely unmolested with orignal mirrors and exhaust cans etc. Hands down, the best bike I could have chosen as a first bike. None of these fancy gizmos and computers to keep me upright, just me and the machine at one… I absolutely couldn’t have agreed more with you when you explained about the addictive nature of dropping the speed and gear then accelerating right back up. They’re a real head turner wherever you go and I have no problem keeping up with modern bikes. Triumph really were triumphant with this masterpiece. This video is so well made and you eloquently explained the subtle yet key points of the street triple. Subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your videos

I still own and ride my 2010 Street Triple R... it's still got the chrome round headlights, but best of all, the 'R' came with fully adjustable suspension and the Daytona's 675 radial caliper brakes. I ordered mine with the original Triumph Arrow pipes, Arrow Rearsets and quickshifter... what an angry little rocket she is. All my riding mates have modern bikes less than 3 years old. We swap bikes and I ride them all... but the truth is, none of them do it for me like my bike does. It's raw and just excites... and constantly whispering in ear "Go on then... give it some!" I don't care how much they go up in value, I'm keeping mine forever. Still haven't ridden a more exciting bike for the road.

The bug eye headlights on these early 2000’s Triumphs are definitely iconic. Thank you for your wonderful report about this first generation Street Triple. The filming is great and gives a whole new, human perspective on the ride. All the features you describe make the experience so great. The seating position, the chassis, the look, the engine. The engine. I have been riding a 2012 R model for a few weeks and riding is addictive. The 2012 model lost the chrome headlights but gave a modern look even by today's standards. It was largely unchanged technically, but has been refined again before the 2nd Gen. model with the low exhaust came out. It had a new ECU was installed. The way the throttle is applied changes the ignition setting.
The gearbox is easier to shift, no searching for neutral. Compared to the 2nd Gen. Street Triple, the 2012 still has the short first gearing ration. This further intensifies acceleration from a standstill and at lower speeds.
    A truly outstanding bike.
The pure opposite of my first generation Speed Triple from '96.

Owning a flaming red Street Triple 2011 I really enjoyed your video while nodding "yes" with my head. The chrome headlights shouted at me "buy me, ride me". Best bike ever, will hold on to it for a long long time. Great video, fantastic place to ride.

    Hi,
thanks so very much for that video. You made my brother and me very, very happy. We were both looking for a used motorcycle and I was torn between the Street Triple, a Speed Triple 1050 and Aprilias Shiver 750. It was this video and the way you presented the Bike that made me choose my 1st gen Street Triple over a Speed Triple, were I found everything you said absolutely confirmed. My Brother chose a 2. gen Street Triple but with more mileage. I love my Street Triple - thx again.

Such a treat ~ I have owned this model and all your observations are spot on 😃 You corrected the power figures but you were spot on! The higher figure is at the crank but the rear wheel bhp is as you stated 94bhp 🙏🏼

Loved the review and the island is a dream. I recently bought a '08 street triple 675. It had to visit the shop due to stator and rectifier problem. I hope to get it soon. Loved the bike, sounds like a dream.

Great review, thank you. Your lean angle demo was particularly enlightening - I'm a similar build to you, and was amazed at how easily you moved the thing around. I've been riding mainly >1000cc bikes for the past eight years or so, and unless using the power they've left me a bit flat.
I recently bought a Citroen C1 city car, and it's the most fun I've had on the road in a long while, purely because of how light it is. Light is more fun than power figures, hence my interest in the Street Triple.

Loved the review Freddie. I have owned my 2009 street triple for the last 2 years. Its an awesome bike for commuting to work and also country rides on my days off. The whine from the timing gears and sound from the arrow exhausts always gets great comments from passers by.

Great Vlog Freddie, Just sold a classic Guzzi Convert and found a 2011 Street Triple 675 in Strontium yellow, which
was not a standard colour with 30,000 miles.
Awesome flickable bike, I am enjoying being out and about in the Cornish Countryside on it, and at 63 I thought it might be too much. But its a perfectly manageable and predictable bike, I love it. It's a keeper for me. Thanks for persuading me to find one.😍🏍

Currently have a 09 street triple r white in black gold forks. I got a lot of compliments whenever I’m riding my bike around town. Those whistles and grunts just brings out the hooligan in ya. Nimble and got that classical look. Couldn’t be more happier getting it as my first bike.

Triumph triples are the best sounding bikes there is. I just sold a 02 Daytona 955 that I bought for 450 bucks because it needed some work, I repaired it and installed a low boost turbo on it and it was absolutely insane with the turbo.
I kept it for four years but old injuries have caught up with me and I had to let it go. I plan on getting something like the street triple for that better riding position. When you talked about the gear changing I found the same little quirk with my Daytona.
*First time view, you've got yourself a new subscriber, great video and review.

I owned a 2009 Striple. I loved it for 8 years. It started seeping oil from the valve covers. It was a tempting bike. It brought out the demon in me. I loved the sound of the motor so much, I couldn't put it up with out hitting triple digits. The voltage regulator/rectifiers were recalled.

I owned a 2009 Street Triple in Black with gold forks for over 10 years! 5 years into that period it got nicked, and I replaced it with the exact same model (genuinely couldn't think of a better all rounder, didn't like the newer designs), kept the replacement another 5 years and it got nicked again! I've now replaced it with an MT10 - 🔥and I love it, but it is so OTT and this triple will always have a place ❤️ Great tribute to this bike mate 🙌
