    I like how they slapped the door with the axe instead of using the sharp side.
    Story time: I had two roommates who did not like each other at all. One had the landlord install a lock on his door to keep the other out. Well one day he accidentally closed the door with the lock engaged and freaked out cos he couldn’t get into his private room. So my other roommate pulled out a credit card and opened the door so fast I almost missed him jimmying the lock. The first roommate had the most terrified expression on his face..

      In the UK we generally don't have locks that you can Jimmy open with a card... I know, people have tried on many doors. We prefer bolt action locks for interior doors, which while can't be easily opened, we can just kick the door until the wood gives way and the screws come out. I know this, I've done it a couple of times.

    • @ANDunn-tf6xp
      @ANDunn-tf6xp Před měsícem +5

      Yeah, people don't know what their world is actually made of.
      We had a safety training class when I was in school for HVAC and Plumbing.
      In the class we learned how to set up your brazing, soldering areas for fire safety, how many fire extinguisher, what types, what materials you can and can't weld/braze or solder around and the big stuff was how to escape from a room where the door/exit is compromised...
      Well, you take a hammer or sawzall and start cutting/smashing through the drywall in an arch until you identify the studs, then you kick out the lower portion of the drywall and then you pull back the insulation, kick out the other drywall then push OUT through the insulation, don't tear it away leaving an open hole so you can back up back into the room with the insulation as shielding from smoke and fire.
      But if it's cool to leave you push through making sure to avoid conduit and bounce.
      We had to have emergency lights for working in basements and a carbon dioxide alarm.
      California has a lot of rules and guidelines. Their big blue code book is about 400 pages long and gets updated annually.
      That's if you're actually licensed and pay taxes lol
      Most plumbing work I did in California was fixing what the illegal Home Depot "contractor's" had messed up 😂
      Let's just say you see a lot of duct taped plastic bags used in place of Teflon tape

      Actually its to feel and look around/ under the door to determine if there is a fire in the room, remember, if there is a fire in the room the door knob will be very hot, and opening a door actually increases air flow and space for fire to grow. If theres a fire outside or inside a door, *dont open it*, get out by another means because you will actualy make things much much worse if you do.

    Years ago A company I worked for managed an office building near Los Angeles Airport. The building was empty and was going to be renovated for a new tenant. Somehow the property manager was contacted by the local firefighters who wanted to use the building to practice forced entries. She figure all the doors would be replaced anyway so she didn't think it would hurt for them to chop holes in some doors that were going away anyway right? What she didn't know is firefighters don't chop down the door. It takes too long. They bash a hole in the wall next to the door and reach in and open it with the knob. When we went into the building the doors were al intact but next to every interior door in the three story building what a huge gaping hole in the wall next to each door knob.
