I love my creative grids. I have eye problems and I can’t stand others. They are too busy and hard to focus on. I have 2 cutting areas so I have 2 of each of my favorite sizes. I just invested in their red colored metal rotary cutter. No more plastic lightweight cutters. Being metal gives it weight and wonderful balance. I’ll be ordering another one soon. It’s a must have!
Thank you for this great, informative video. I have found the hardest bit has been to lay the ruler so the “1” is at the end where I have to cut. A different thought process than when marking wood to cut. :)
I have been using rotary, rulers, and mats for several years, but you have demonstrated better ways to do things that what I have been doing. Thank you for the detailed info. You show not just what to do, but also what not to do. I have 1 Creative Grids ruler and found it very confusing, but now I think I'll not only use it, but replace my worn out 6x12 Quilters Select with Creative Grids. Thank you - I really enjoy your teaching videos.

I don't know what you may have been successful at or enjoy doing, but I can tell you that you're an instructor. Quilter, bagmaker, pancake press operator..sure... whatever you feel like doing..but you're an instructor. I've taken trauma classes and tactical weapons classes from people who don't hold a candle to you as far as "teaching the thing" goes. Also, I'm left handed and the fact of the matter is that we just need to do most things righty... Scissors don't even cut left handed unless we buy special scissors, sewing machines are designed for righties...teach it your way and we'll catch on or figure it out lefty later on. I've watched easily over 100 hrs of sewing videos in the past 6 weeks, and those 47 minutes will guaranteed make me better than I was 48 minutes ago. Thank you for taking the time.

Great tips. I love creative grids. Mine are so old they don’t have the QR codes🤣🤣. They last forever and are worth the cost.
This video is so incredibly helpful! I already needed a longer ruler. Thanks to your video..ordered a creative grid ruler. My biggest thing of cutting is how do you get the pieces exactly the same because every time I flip it over the pieces are off. I’ve watched video after video of people cutting the pieces and flipping it over and they’re exactly the same. I’ve never once had that happen.

I stick to Olfa blades. I really like them and find they are worth the money and last me quite a while even with all the cutting we do. All of the cheaper dupes that everyone talks about just haven’t done it for me. If I’m going to spend money on good fabric & cork I might as well buy good blades to cut it with!

I noticed the creative grids makes left -hand rulers for the most common sizes. I have been looking fora cutting mat with left hand numbers, but have not found one. You mentioned a cutting mat that had numbers going right and left, what company was it? Thank you for the video.
Thank you for letting me know that about the rulers. I was unaware but I’m glad to know that they make left-handed rulers. I believe the mat that I have is Quilters Select. It has the numbers going both ways. I am snowed in right now and I don’t have the mat near me but I’m fairly certain that is the brand!
This was very helpful, thank you! Question: in regards to "standing height," how do I determine what the "right" height is for me? Should my arms be straight when I am ready to cut, or for example, should they be bent at a 90° degree angle?
My table comes to my hips or my belly button. My arm starts out at a 90° angle and then I can extend it straight to cut. I hope that makes sense!
