6/24. Thanks for the demo.
Turning your fabric vertically makes it much easier. Put the 2.5 inches of fabric to the left under the ruler and yardage to the right. You can apply much less pressure. This might help your hands too. Blades last much longer than using regular rotary cutter. Only apply hard pressure when cutting four layers.
thanks so much for the suggestion
It scares me when she puts her hands in front of the blade even though it's encompassed it just scares me
Thank you so much for this tutorial. The package really doesn’t explain you need a mat with it. I’m glad I came across your video or I would have ruined my blade for sure. I also didn’t really get how you cut the fabric. I was thinking you use it like a paper cutter where the fabric goes inside the metal plate and then line it up with the ruler measurements. 😂 omg 😆 thank you, this really helps.
Yes the Fiskars Rotary Cutter Ruler was a game changer for me too ! I'm legally blind, have weakness im both shoulders from rotar cuff repair & dexterity problems in my hands & fingers due to diabetes, yet I still need the income & enjoy making baby quilts to sell in my Etsy shop. Thanks for the great tutorial. I've had this tool in my craft room for years but didn't know how to use it
Thanks for explaining how to use the cutter. I have generalized Myasthenia and just recently purchased the cutter/ruler combo for that reason. Grasping a rotary cutter and eye strain are often issues when I cut the pieces for new quilt projects. I cut all the pieces at the beginning. Try as I may I've had problems with some of my cuts being incorrect. This cutter will make things so much easier and accurate. I look forward to starting my next quilt project.
I have this ruler. I think you will find it easier to use if you use the cutter vertically. Put your fabric down with ruler part to the end of the fabric you are going to cut off. (ruler is on the larger piece of the fabric.) You can hold on to the ruler and not have to move your hand to get the cutter to the end. Good luck
Thank you for watching and for your suggestion regarding the cutter/ruler combo usage. It is much appreciated!
I too have this ruler, absolutely love it, but would also only use it vertically as demonstrated on the shopping channel I got it from. I have just ordered the Crafters Companion/Threaders version which is 15.5 " wide, neither of them exactly cheap but worth every penny, my Fiskars one has certainly paid for itself as I' m sure the new one will.
With MG, leaning forward can be problematic due to core muscle weakness..when I move my arm forward (bending slightly) I become off balance b/c I don’t have the strength to resume my “upright”position-with a regular rotary cutter/ruler, I cut at the corner of my table (diagonally) so I don’t have to reach much
This ruler has been a lifesaver for me. Love it! Now, I want the 12x12. 😬
Awesome! I love it!
Thank you for this helpful video!
Very useful video. Thank you for instructions.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow I sure would love this tool after two days of cutting and achy arms
YES! One of our best purchases!
Amen. It is fantastic!
they are on sale currently at Hobby Lobby
Thank you for show how to use this. I got it for Christmas last year
It has got to be the best tool I have gotten for my sewing room. Thank you for watching.
I have arthritis in my wrists and this cutter is a game changer for me!
Wow I need to get this tool, I’ve watched a few of your videos and this is the first time I’ve heard you say you have MG, I do also and I too experience muscle weakness. Thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching. The ruler/cutter combo is just one of the little accommodations I've had to make. I'm just so happy that I am still able to enjoy my little hobbies.
Laura Wheeler yes we have to make adjustments, I’m still working on trying to purchase one.

I just found your videos by accident looking for alternative binding ideas and watched this video. I was surprised when you said you have MG. I do too. Mine is mostly ocular and under control but nice to meet you 😀
@@goebel75 I'm also glad you responded not too many people know of MG I have some episodes where my face goes wacky on me you can see my muscles pulses aid and it also tightens you take good care of yourself.
Great to know of a fellow MG quilter!
Love the ruler…I’ve been using my GO lately b/c of difficulty holding a ruler down and cutting (with a 2lb weight) without the ruler slipping (and slicing in my finger-no badly fortunately)
Good to know. Very helpful
Thank you
You are welcome.
Does this equipment help in cutting the anti pill fleece fabrics too? If so, how many at a time?
Do you line up Fiskars combo with the mat. I can't get my cuts straight
Thanks I have one and needed to know how to work it.
I guess I need to make an instructional video on this ruler sometime. Keep watching.
I love this tool! How much is the cost ? Thx for the clear and concise tutorial. Blessings
I have one it so so much better then the way I use to cut love it
I love mine so much! It was a real game changer!
Laura I buy my blades from Amazon also. Just purchased the cutter. I am in the charm group now, look forward to maybe getting some charms from you.
I am glad. I love this cuttger ruler combo. I makes life so much easier. I really enjoy doing the charm swaps; I hope you do too.
How would you cut a 8x14 piece of material
thank you
Where did you get your mat and what kind is it?
I know the feeling I had to get this to cause I have back and hand issues. I never could get the right size cut by anytime I cut material.
It's been a real game changer for me.
Thanks for watching
I love the ruler
That's awesome. It one of my favorite tools.
Bought one yesterday at Wal-Mart..thought i saw a crack but blew it off as a holder ,like part of package
.got home it was broken;( guess it goes back! Thanks for the review!
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you will have better luck next time. It is an awesome tool, when it is not broken...
What is the smallest those ruler will cut??
Can you use a pinking blade?
Interesting. A friend just offered me hers and wasn't sure how to use it. I wonder how non skid it is.
hi I have some muscle weakness too, I was looking for a cutter to cut 2-3 yards of fabric. Do you think this will work? Thanks
This is one of Laura's favorite tools. It can be used for cutting any amount of fabric. Thanks for watching
Do they come in smaller sizes?
How do I get the white spring back to attaching to the blade? Mine has come undone and the slider came right off the guide.
Did you ever find a solution for this? We have the same problem and can work out how to fix
How do I measure a 9x9 block?
Does the blade wobble like the paper cutters do? I'm afraid of crooked cuts.
No. Now it can get loose, and I have to re-tighten it. But if the blade is inserted correctly and the bolt is snug, it works wonderfully. It's one of the best purchases we've made for the sewing room.
I have just got teh 12"x12" one so I am guessing the it would be the same way
Absolutely. TGhanks for watching!
I dropped my rotary cutter and the knob broke off . is it possible to replace only knob or the part that slides?
I am not sure. I would contact the manufacturer
Can you cut 10" squares also?
Yes, measure using bottom mat
Love it how can I get one
This should help - amzn.to/2DB3aYN. Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you for showing how to use the ruler part. I didn’t know if the fabric measures from left or what. I will practice.
You are so welcome!
How can you cut a 5x5 square
I just bought this Rotary Cutter so I could cut straighter and I'm very excited about it. As good as Fiskars is, I was really disappointed in them for not being wise enough to put the instructions with it on how to use it and not having a safety feature to cover the blade underneath. Fortunately, I can unscrew the circular cover when I am done and cover the blade underneath for safety purposes. Great tool but it needs more up-date on it.
Good ideas. Thanks for watching
How would you cut a 12x12 block
Measure using the bottom mat
I find different brands have different centre fittings. So often other blades don’t fit fiskars.
Are their cutters for left handed people?
The blade goes both directions, so I would think that would work for both right handed and left hands users.
I would use it vertically to be honest, but hey ho, each to their own
I agree. We all have our own way to get the job done. I believe most things can be done many ways and we should do what we feel most comfortable with. My main goal is to show anyone can sew and to not be scared. Thank you so much for watching.
Onde comprar esse cortador?
Here's a link - amzn.to/2Ndvfuh
yes. You might have saved my cut of life. lol
Please look at www.fiskars.eu for a complete explanation of how to use this ruler from the company
Pretty expensive ruler?????
Loretta Taylor not really, you are getting a ruler and a rotary cutter. If you price them separate it’s about even. I am getting one, my hands hurt when I cut lots of fabric. $48.98 at Amazon including pak of 5 extra blades.
I think it's one of the best purchases we've made. It's made a huuuuuggggeeee difference.
I just bought one at Joann's with all the coupons I got it 70% off and so it became $38 ! I was so excited since I've been wanting it but didn't want to pay full price!
That's awesome. I always try to catch the sales when possible.
@@CrazyDavesCrew got one from ebay for $26.00
It looks so awkward watching you cut horizontally. Can’t be good for your back
It seem to be what works best for me. Thanks for watching.
I must suck
Not always easy to get a clean cut-not impressed-I'd do better with a ruler and a regular rotary cutter.
We all have our preferences. As I always say, go with what works for you. Thanks for watching.
bought this miserable thing it barely skims the surface of all things I have tried to cut ....awful no matter how hard I push....waste of money!!!
I am sorry to here that. Have you called the manufacture? Perhaps you got a defective item.
This is a horrible video, so not the way to use this ruler.
Thanks for watching.
Please link to your video then.
Just because it's not how you would do it doesn't make it wrong.
So sorry you didn’t like the video. I for one truly appreciated it because I just got one and I needed to know how to use it. Maybe you didn’t realize how your comment sounded?
