      I'm a noob player, been playing for maybe a month now. i just watched your skill build video and in that video you inadvertently helped me a ton! see, I've been either selling or melting all my junk gear...not even thinking about the 'donation' thing! you happened to mention that you could 'donate gear to expertise' and I'm like..." good lord! THAT'S what 'donate' means!!! " lmfao...so now i know what i need to do to help speed up expertise

    A few additions. As mentioned, wearing all 6 pieces of a brand or gear set will level them up much faster. What was missed is that carrying 2 of the same weapon will also level it up more quickly. As an example, equip a king breaker in both your primary and secondary slots and you will level it up twice as fast. Also, when you are donating materials always try to select an item-gear or weapon it doesn't matter-- that is as far along the track as you can. In the video Agent Meat selected an LMG that was at 0 when there were other items on the list that were between 7 and 9--finish items before starting new items wherever possible. Lastly, it is a little bit more involved, but rather than deconstructing junk you can sell it then take that money and buy a bunch of the cheapest mod the vendor is selling, then decon those for printer filament you can then donate. More bang for your buck. As mentioned this does take more effort, but I got to level 20 in the same 3 month time span.
    As far as upgrading weapons and gear sets, it costs a lot of resources to upgrade so be VERY selective. By that I mean only upgrade weapons and gear you really use a lot. Especially past level 11 as the exotic component cost increases with every upgrade. Said another way, if you use Scorpio in a lot of builds than it is likely worth it to upgrade it to 21. If you only use the Lady Death every once in a while you probably wouldn't want to upgrade it past 11 which is where exotic components kick in. Upgrading an item to 11 costs 1 exotic component. Upgrading it all the way to level 20 will cost you 54. Yes, fifty four. Obviously you only want to spend exotic components on gear you REALLY like to use--and no gear set piece is worth upgrading past 10 or 11. If you use one or some of the damage skills a lot--like the drone or turret--than those might be worth leveling up to the max.

    • @AgentMeat
      @AgentMeat  Před rokem +4

      Very well said. I did not know about the two weapons; I’m going to incorporate that into my playing. Also, selling gear for cash to spend on Gear Mods for printer filament makes a lot of sense. I’m going to incorporate that as well!

    • @genephipps6421
      @genephipps6421 Před rokem +4

      @@AgentMeat it might also be worth mentioning that players running countdown should only buy exotics with their countdown money--I have seen players buying named items form the countdown vendor and donating them--NEVER do this. for upgrading the one resource you will never have enough of is exotic components.
      You might also want to do a video about using mules correctly. Every You Tuber I have seen cover this subject gets a few important things wrong. The first is they tell people that it is not worth it to create and run mules through WONY until you are at or above level 2,000 and the second is they all seem to create their mules, run WONY, harvest the SHD points, and then delete the mules.
      It is more practical to make your mules as soon after level 800 as you can, and to keep them. As an example, if you make 3 mules at level 1,000 and keep them, by the time you reach lvl 2,000 the three mules will have earned you 3,000 SHD scavenge points because every time you level up your main character and get an SHD point, so does each of your mules. Who would say no to a 4 x multiplier? Also, each week when the projects reset you can donate materials with you main for an exotic, and ALSO with each of your mules--it takes about 5 minutes for each mule and each gets an exotic every week. All resources are shared between your main character and mules except the consumables--food, water, and components and those are fast/easy to gather--usually in one quick stop.

    Thank you, much appreciated, this is a awesome game but boy is it a complicated one, I am currently on expert level 1 and almost at the point of giving up on it due to the crazy grind fest and not understanding it fully, though fun. Personally I think it's over complicated, right now I'm still on the fence about playing it still due to the time factor involved needed to rank up.
    Just playing the game is the best part and the worst part is the grind.

    • @AgentMeat
      @AgentMeat  Před rokem +1

      Expertise was added to allow longer term players another way to rank up their builds. Once you reach an SHD (watch) level of 1000, that’s the end of your character bonus progression. This allows you the option of increasing weapon/skill damage and increasing your armor to make your builds more effective.
      If you’re not fully maxed out, the bonuses from expertise are not as profound as when your character is maxed out.
      My advice is to level it up as you play the game but don’t obsess over the process. That will suck all the fun out of the game play.

    Nice summary--my story is almost exact as yours as far as timing and just coming back to the game. I am also on Ex 13 and at this point the grind seems to be becoming very real--all the sets and easy stuff are Proficient, so moving quickly with one skill, one specialty, one weapon, one piece of gear at a time is slooooooowwww. I am finding creating a new character and running New York until complete and then sharing all those resources at the end to be a bit helpful as well. Not sure about the time spent comparison, but it does provide a nice break once in a while.

      I am planning a follow up video for this week. I've received a number of comments that should make a difference in your leveling efficiency. I'm running WONY on a weekly basis now (sometimes more often).
      The only way to do that and not get completely burned out is to do it in a group. I do it on the weekend with my clan but I've also done it by spamming the "Request Backup" until I have a full squad. I've met a lot of cool players and made a lot of friends in the game doing that.

    I follow the following path, which I almost got all my side arm proficient. At vendor reset, I buy the sidearms which aren’t proficient in my library, if I’m at 0 rank, I buy 20, else the number to come up to 20, donate it and tada…. All those guns are in the non featured category, this way, you buy it for max 160k coin and all is good. I’ve so many coins, it ain’t funny, this way I found a decent use for it.
    One thing those, upgrading proficient gear is expensive, as the resources demands switch category and numbers needed to level up…. I love your content presentation, been a day 1 The Division player and still enjoy to see and hear different views!

    Great video and expalination of expertise but I have a question. Just started my own account and hit level 30 (World tier 1) does the expertise I get now carry over to level 40? I notiuce that the others like talents is from 30 to 39 and then another seperate one at 40. So it is worth doing the level 30-30 talents & skill libary? Sorry 2 questions.
    Many thanks.

    • @AgentMeat
      @AgentMeat  Před 4 měsíci

      Expertise (your expertise level) is bound to your account; all characters you have or create have the same Expertise level. Weapon and gear proficiency is also bound to your account. Expertise levels are bound to the item (weapons or gear) but expertise levels applied to skills are shared between characters. As an example, if you have a Police M4 that is at full proficiency and is at Expertise level 5, if you pick one up on a second character, it will be fully proficient but will not have any levels of Expertise. Same for gear and brand set pieces. If your shield is fully proficient and at expertise 5, all your characters will have a fully proficient shield at expertise 5.
      The recalibration library is account wide and stays with you after level 30.
      So the answer to both your questions is yes, it is worth progressing proficiency/expertise and also your recalibration library at or before level 30.

    my advice to players are as simple. Like he said it is a grind. I have been expertise level 21 season season 10 started. one of best places is countdown to get gear and make sure u got at least 50 places open in your backpack. another thing is keep an eye open for what is at the vendors because u can buy stuff and donate. last thing is i would only do this if you are at least shd level 2000 is create a new character and buy filters.

    • @AgentMeat
      @AgentMeat  Před rokem

      That’s a question I don’t have an answer for. You can only share weapons to other players you were grouped with that were acquired while you were grouped. I really don’t know what happens if you optimize, recalibrate or level the expertise of a shareable item. It may still be shareable but likely not. I know if you mod a weapon it makes it unsharable so it’s likely that levelling up the expertise will also render it unsharable.

    What is the benefit of being proficient, ? how does it affect your character ?.

    • @AgentMeat
      @AgentMeat  Před rokem

      Being proficient allows you to add expertise levels to your weapons and gear. Each expertise level adds 1% weapon damage to weapons and 1% Armour to gear. Skills and specialization weapons also benefit but their attribute buffs are all different.
      So in a nutshell, it allows more damage and armour as you progress.

    • @dre5229
      @dre5229 Před rokem

      Also the armor bonus only affects the base armor of that one gear piece. So the armor will not increase based on blue cores or total armor. It’s best to use resources to level up skills and weapons to at most level 10.
      I’m expertise level 21 and after 10 requires exotic components so it’s really hard to level it up towards 20.

    I feel that you may not have clarified or mentioned how proficiency is a category. ie your rank increases are across all of that item. I've had to explain this to a few friends that Upgrades are per item but Proficiency is across all of x item. Also that the game will show your proficiency of an item when viewing other player's gear or items on the ground.
    The thing I actually learned from this video though: TFW you can select multiple items in the All Gear tab of inventory. xD I had no idea smh. The sort by new is v handy for people who carry only their equipped gear and not 10 different loadouts. :P 10/10 play to enjoy not do work. Excellent video, the pace felt deliberate and diction clear and effective. As an experienced player I know this will be valuable to players of all levels. =D

      Thank you!
      You are correct, I didn’t cover that in enough depth and I will clarify that in a coming video.
      As to the sort by new, when I’m recording content, I put most of my load outs in my stash so my inventory isn’t cluttered. When I’m just playing, I pre-load all my usual loadouts so I have them at my disposal. The sort by new still works in that case. Your current loadout is at the top, all the new pieces are in the middle and your other gear is at the bottom. MAJOR CAVEAT! Mark the gear in your loadouts as a favourite!!! I can’t tell you how many good gear pieces have been donated as junk over the years because I forgot to mark them as favourites! Some very special words were said. . .

    Yeah sucking the fun out of the game is what I was worried about I started upgrading some weapons and gearsets but was very grindy and I already burnt myself out on this game trying to level up quickly to hit 1000 shade level so I could create a new character run Warlords again so could get all the salvage sharing material across accounts for optimisation by running missions,Resource convoys,CPs and countdown I'm now almost level 600 and do not enjoy countdown nearly as much anymore and also don't really play solo anymore I either call for backup or matchmake as I find solo boring now against running in groups so I kinda stopped going out my way for the expertise this game has so much grind to it in. So many area's you need to be careful where you put your time and that you are still enjoying the game when you play and not doing things you don't enjoy to get to a point to better your gear,expertise and rank I seriously doubt I'll hit 1000 anytime soon as I'm so close to dropping the game since I put so much time into activities and tasks that I was only doing to level up and I wasn't having fun with it.

      I completely feel your pain! When I started playing this game, I was a solo player and quickly burned out. After a year long break form the game, a friend started playing and dragged me back into the game. We started a closed clan and ended up with 4 members who played sporadically. In this time, I got my watch level over 1000 but again burned out due to the grind. . .I stopped playing and having fun and focused on achieving watch levels and farming resources.
      I returned to the game last November and decided to restart the Clan (it disappeared while we were inactive) as an open clan and just have fun playing the game. We've quickly grown to 21 members and are at clan level 30. Most are either new to the game, or returning to the game after a break. At any given time there are multiple members playing who all want to advance their game, but want to do it while having fun.
      Last night there were 5 or 6 of us on with 4 of us in a group playing together. We were just goofing around running after resource convoys, doing control points and bounties; mainly we were all on Discord laughing and having fun, By the end of the evening we had all gone up 6 or 7 watch levels and collected a ton of resources without really trying.

    • @AgentMeat
      @AgentMeat  Před rokem

      That’s a question I can’t answer for you. As a player with a relatively high watch level, it’s easier to assign resources to this game mechanic. Like every aspect of progression in this game, the longer you play and the more you spec into progression, the easier it is to take on more difficulty while you play. This mean you get more XP, better rolls on the gear drops and die less often.
      If you are or want to be a PVP player, it’s an easier question to answer.
      Is it worth it for you at this point in your progression?

    • @AgentMeat
      @AgentMeat  Před rokem

      @@nextgenlawncare5411 It does make a difference for weapons as each expertise level is 1% additional damage. As an example, if you leveled up your favourite weapon(s) to level 15, it is the same as adding an additional red weapon damage core to your build. It makes much less of a difference for gear as each 1% of additional armour is applied to the base armour of the gear piece. As an example, a mask has 80,000 armour. 1% of 80,000 is 800 so it's a very negligible difference that will not have an impact on your survivability.

    It's a massive grind for a Massive waste of time seeing as the expertise level is now 21, because the NPCs have been buffed, making this whole expertise system a total waste of time to begin with. What Massive thought, screw the new players, to be able to do any damage they need to grind the SHD watch then grind there way through expertise as well, just so you can do any damage without spending 3 mags on one enemy.

    • @AgentMeat

      I have to respectfully disagree. This game is all about the grind whether that be increasing your own skills, farming for better gear, leveling up your watch or leveling up your proficiency and expertise level. I play several different characters including a level 30 and a level 40 with no watch levels or expertise levels applied; the game can be played at a high level in spite of your watch and expertise levels and, it can be played poorly with everything maxed.

      @@AgentMeat Agree, I don't mind the grind but I do mind the grind in pursuit of pointless endeavors, such as Expertise to make your character stronger, just for the Devs to Buff the NPCs to match the players new level of power. That is just Grind for Grinds sake.

      @@my0866 So how do you balance things? I am far from a pro level player, but I have been playing the game a long time. With my experience in the game, I can play heroic level content without any watch levels or expertise applied with relative ease. I can also make the choice to use the watch and expertise to make Legendary completable about 60% of the time. The game remains a challenge but is still playable in spite of the NPC balancing that occurs with every title update.

      @@AgentMeat The game did not need the expertise system at all. It was added to the game to keep players occupied , due to there being no new content added for Months.
      All your doing is grinding expertise to make you stronger, while at the same time the Devs buff the NPCs to match the players new power. So it is grind for no reason. Let's say The player gains 10% more armour and weapon damage , by doing the expertise, then the Devs buff the NPCs also by 10% , meaning your agent is actually no stronger than they where before the expertise grind. If the NPCs are not buffed to match , it would make the game to easy.

    Use scavenging points to buy ecredits and buy mods from the vendor and deconstruct them. You get 20% more filaments. DON'T put any expertise into gear it's a complete waste of materials. For example if you get all 6 gear pieces on lvl 20 you need 300 exotic components and you get +130.000 Armor. Better to use 10 exotic components and get your weapon to lvl15 and get +15% weapon damage so you roll one core to blue and dont lose any damage compared to a build without expertise. Thanks for listening to my ted talk
