Suprt Short TL;DR: Amumu is cursed that he will never find a friend and he roams the land despite the curse, that's why he is as u said ''exploring'' the world. Have to say not everyone thinks of Amumu's tragic fate and how Riot Games can be super Metal sometimes.

hmm not much on Amumu, growing up, I felt that loneliness but I thought to myself that if that was me, cursed to being alone forever and I was immortal? I might just be super kinda and talk to the next living life form that would start to exist beside me or go totally crazy but either way the community would see it as insanity. I shall now use this time to drop League vid titles you must watch in order hehe.
