This song was written and sung by Christian Linke, who would later go on to be one of the co-creators of Arcane :) He comes from the music side of Riot (there's a joke in the league community that Riot Games is actually a music production company that just happens to make games on the side lol), so its no surprise that the soundtrack for Arcane is so good.
As for Amumu, this song sums up his character pretty well. There are many different tales of the Sad Mummy that wanders the deserts of Shurima, but the one thing they have in common is that he is cursed to kill anything he touches. They say that if you listen closely on cold night you can hear Amumu weeping, crying because he can't get close to anyone to befriend them without killing them.
I'm actually impressed that you managed to figure out Ammumu's lore of everything around him dying from this. It's obvious if you know it but first time watchers (me included) usually don't realize it.
The flowers were the give away and I was trying to figure out what exactly his curse was. Soo many things go through my head while watching these 😭😂
@@TwentyTwoHya yep he’s an old shuriman prince, it’s not been mentioned who cursed him with undeath and the additional effects of killing anything that he touches. It’s sad from the perspective that he’s still a child and I’m assuming all he’d really want is to be held by a parent or someone but he can’t do that without killing the person and on top of that, people don’t understand what he is or the fact that he’s not intentionally trying to hurt anyone so he gets shunned a lot by people. He just wants to be comforted and told it’s going to be ok and he really can’t find that.
A bit more Lore that others didn't say yet:
What's even more sad is from 1:37 to 1:52 you can see a shadowy wolf figure going after Amumu . That is the representation of the champion called Kindred (The Eternal Hunters) who is/are Runeterra's (the world of the game) Grim Reaper basically. Kindred is represented as a duality of The Lamb who helps those who accepted their death to the other side and The Wolf who chases down those who try to escape death some way. ( They are one Champion in game but talk to each other / themselves in separate voices and personality )
Some Kindred Voice lines to imagine them:
Lamb: "Never one... "
Wolf: "...without the other."

Lamb: "Shall we, dear Wolf?"
Wolf: "Race you there!"
-------------------------
Wolf: "Tell me again, little Lamb, which things are mine to take?"
Lamb: "All things, dear Wolf."
And because Amumu is a mummy so technically an undead and shouldn't be alive in any form , here comes The Wolf to try to get him to the other side. But The curse on poor Amumu is so powerful that not even Death itself can get close to him. So he is bound to roam the world alone for all eternity.
This is Kindred's voice line if they meet Amumu in game:
Lamb: "We understand your loneliness, but... "
Wolf: "...stay away!"
It's even more sad because Kindred's story is that He was a pale man ( Death ) and everything and everyone had to meet him eventually but no-one wanted to. So he was so soo lonely he split himself into two so he would always have a friend. ( Kindred: Listen to Their Tale | New Champion Teaser ---- their story in a short 30s teaser video with them talking HIGHLY recommend)
So Kindred knows how sad and lonely Amumu is but still keeps away from him.
Thank you for this, i assumed the shadow creature was a representation of the curse. It makes so much more sense that it would be Wolf stalking Amumu.

fun fact, according to league of legends lore, Amumu does have a friend! Annie is listed as Amumu's only friend!
