Pedro L Bonilla R thanks
I absolutely love hearing John Schlitt sing Bema Seat, how awesome is that.
Petra. Awsome
I think John did great on the older tunes. And Mark is such a great backing vocalist
Wow I'm very impressed with John Schlitt. John you sure made it
Great Petra, thanks so much for share. God bless
John was obviously a Steve Perry fan with those clothes. Love it!
_ not bad John !!! you did me proud !!!! love your stage presence ... ...
Joao Marcos Machado Sleiman, (Brazilian/American Citizen).
I remember seeing Petra at Memorial Auditorium on Saturday February 14,1988 during the album tour of “This Means War”, the 2nd time was during their “Unseen Power” in October of 1993, and the 3rd and final time was at The Kentucky State Fair in August of 1995 during their unreleased album titled “No Doubt”. These concerts really had an impact in my life. I guess I’m starting to show my age.
Excelenteeee!!! Increible escuchar estas canciones en la voz de John Schlitt, en su mejor momento!!!... CLEAN me encanta 💪👍👊👌
LOL! John forgetting the words in "Second Wind." He had a habit of doing that from time to time, but it can certainly be forgiven, seeing as he had to learn so many so quickly.
Man, this video is a treasure. I love seeing John sing these Volz-era classics.
This must've been before "Back to the Street" was released. Very interesting!
+Douglas Davenport it was pre Street
Thanks for posting this video.
Very rare footage.
So this concert is one of these. Any one that can recognize the venue and nail down the date for sure?:
03.12.86 Vennesla, Norway, Vennesla Athletic Hall
03.13.86 Randaberg, Norway, Randaberghallen
03.14.86 Haugesund, Norway, Vardafjell Athletic Hall
03.15.86 Drammen, Norway, Drammenshallen, Rockegalla-86 (with Leon Patillo, Dieter Falk, Roland Utbult, Jan Groth Band, Sissel Kyrkjebø, Rune Larsen, Real Magic)
This band is awesome!!!
Great description: Yup the new Petra album with Jon was toured in Australia as a warm up. My brother gave me 8 tickets to go to Brisbane to see them... I had to give the tickets away as I joined a touring ministry myself... but nothing like Petra... We toured doing theatre/drama in churches.
Would've loved the gig I'm sure. Thanks for posting.
never saw the guys at this stage of their career as Petra. Still spectacular, still driven by the Holy Spirit, still ministering in 2013. Thank you Jesus, for loving me and for using Petra.
rich kelly and thank you Jesus for loving all the millions of children who have cancer
petra a melhor banda
forgot the words to second wind,, just at the time when i was wondering how he could learn so many so fast~ hehe,, amaaaazing performance though
As músicas do tempo do Greg X Volz ficaram bem na voz do John Schlitt também!!
ESSA BANDA É A BANDA
Request: about a year or two before this, they performed in St. Petersburg, FL and I was there. Would love to see a video from then or at least that era (I presume John X. Volz was with them them) as a personal throwback if anybody has one.
IT'S NOT JOHN X VOLZ BUT IT'S JOHN SCHILLT
Bob: your hired!😁
Wow.... lost between the archives of Captured in Time and Space and Back to the Streets.
HERMOSO
There was no show to release the album "Back to the street?" I couldn't find any shows from 1987.
+Claudio Aguirre sabeee
John from HEAD EAST
super band for jesus
All the singers of that day were wearing those false tails jackets... ala steve perry?
This must have been very awkward for John and also for the crowd. John might not have even been a full fledged member at this point. This may have been considered as a fill in until Greg Volz came back, or the band may have simply been publicly auditioning singers. And the songs aren't taylored for Shlitt. He's simply singing the songs the way Gregg had sung them. It's always awkward and difficult when a band loses a vocalist or a lead guitarist.
As far i know, John was performing his first tour as full member at this point. Obviously is easy to hear that all of the songs were not originally composed for his voice instead Greg's, but he probed how good choice Bob Hartman made when pointed to him. In fact, many Petra fans consider "Back to the Street" as a transitional album, where John was still looking for his own "style"; most of the fans think he could acheved that just since This Means War. (by the way, my apologises bout my bad english)
@@PabloGrelaMusic don't worry man u did great with the english, además ellos la suelen pifiar aún sien do nativos 😁
D:
John has a great voice and love his Petra stuff but I still don't like hearing him sing Greg songs. It's just not his style. Both have their own style and I love John on Back to the streets. They should have just canned all the old stuff and started over when they changed singers.
They were technically Bob's songs!
Believe it or not, I like his voice on Greg's songs better than on the songs written for him...probably because he was at least trying to sound like Greg a little which I like better than his normal singing for my taste. He performed Greg's songs very well.
Love Adonai with John!
Wow... John's Vocals is better than Freddie Mercury at his best.
I agree ...I love those guys too but this is straight from the heavens!!
Greg Volz Petra is the only real Petra.
