Felt thrilled as I watched Giridhar Udupa unravel the magic of this great instrument that has witnessed so many great legends play it. Sincere gratitude to Udupa to opening up this world to me
Watched you playing Kanjeera with MahaVidwan Umayalpuram Sri Sivaraman. Great to see you playing ghatam with another great Vidwan Sri GiridharUdupa. Another feather to your cap.
Please read last paragraph, it is very very important. What a versatile artiste you are! I think it’s matter of time before some bharathanatyam videos and paintings are uploaded. Not being sarcastic. Have you ever tried? I didn’t like your music in 2011, but now I started liking, not sure if it’s the improvement in your music or my reception or both!! I have a request. Everyone has been screaming in social media that music is about Bhakti.. But improving one’s consciousness and going to higher planes are possible only by improving jnana. Look at the anupallavi or shri muladhara chakra? Why don’t we some senior and junior music students restrict Dikshitar kritis to those from authentic sources? For example Shri kanthimatheem is not in SSP. Maye tvam yaahi has D1 and 3 charanams. If vocalists like you educate , even laymen will understand
I asked the foll (SAME) Prompt-Q to 3 AI Tools - Bing-AI, ChatGPT (CGPT) and BARD : {these days, often I do “Search” with these AI Tools, instead of Plain Vanilla Google Search !} : My Prompt-Q : “Explain “Salpola Salapola” in relation to the Ghatam Instrument in Carnatic Music.” Bing-AI and ChatGPT (CGPT) both said that they don’t know. {In many of my earlier prompts, I have asked (sort of trained) all these 3 AI Tools, to provide me ONLY with TRUE Info, NOT any made-up Fake News. Still, very often, these tools do provide False Info.) BARD gave this Ans : (NOT sure if the foll info is really TRUE, or a made-up FAKE Info by BARD ?) : “Salpola Salapola” is a Rhythmic Pattern, created by alternating between 2 different Strokes : - the Salpola, which is a quick, sharp stroke, and - the Salapola, which is a slower, deeper stroke. Salpola : The Salpola is a quick, sharp stroke that is created by hitting the ghatam with the fingertips. The sound of the Salpola is high-pitched and piercing. Salapola : The Salapola is a slower, deeper stroke that is created by hitting the ghatam with the palm of the hand. The sound of the Salapola is low-pitched and resonant. When further Chain-Enquired, BARD also stated that these words “Salpola Salapola” are from Tamil Language.
