It was an odd choice after blowing up the tunnels, but after the intense espionage it was nice to kick back and see Matt improv some Rhyloran merchants.

Having 4 action surges on a character that gets 4 attacks per round + can attack between turns with Legendary Actions is bonkers. AND a barbarian-esque rage ability to trigger partway through to give resistance to all damage types and even raises AC further? If Matt didn't allow for the creative use of Telekinesis to disable part of her abilities, I'm fairly certain this was a TPK
@@jackakimbo5718 I'm thinking back and can't think of ANYTING they could have done that is better than they did for this one. There is no combat turning counterspell that could have changed the tides, it was just brutal combat all the way. It really was boing to be TPK if not for Sam. And that is crazy.

Gives people who are well-spoken such a step ahead of people who are more timid. It's things like this that make people who are not charismatic, intelligent, or wise ask how to play characters that are good at those abilities. What a terrible way to play that.

Taliesen called it in a 4sided dive episode ages ago. That robot had a deathwish to save its friends. He was right.
Nah this wasnt that. They showed FCG the light and want to live since then. Ashton wa worried theyd martyr themselves for nothing, or get someone hurt trying to save them (which Ashton himself did later and FCG Also learnt from). This was a miracle and the only thing that saved them from a TPK
I am so worried for Ashton and how he’s going to respond to this. Will he blame the Changebringer, or maybe reconcile with through the grief? Will he know that FCG did it happily and it wasn’t a rage-fueled mistake? Will he let the others help him?
One other part I LOVE about the end there, is when Sam needs all those D8s, Laura, who has always been a stickler with her dice and people touching them, ESPECIALLY with Sam, is so eager to hand them over.
She didn't even hesitate. Everyone else, aside from Marisha, didn't start collecting d8s to give to Sam until Matt asked them to.

4:05:57 It's overshadowed by the blaze of glory, but this part where Orym, beaten down and practically dead, stands in place, like Captain America strapping on his already-broken shield to face Thanos and his whole army on his own, in the face of his father and husband's killer, absolutely broke me.
At that point, every one at that table was ready to accept the death of their character. You could see it dawn on them during that past hour. I feel like Laura and Liam for sure had already given up. Travis was also dead certain this was a TPK.
That was such a good moment!

Orym is basically a halfling version of Captain America. Just sad 5E doesn't have the shield bash rules 3.5 did.

The scariest thing is when Matt said "roll 20 d8," I immediately thought, "I don't know if that's going to be enough..."
Yeah I did the math immediately and with her being resistant to all damage, on average that was gonna be like 40 tops to her.

Gotta say, I loved what Otohan brought to the campaign. No nonsense, no grandiose monologues, no overinflated ego, she's built for one thing and she knows it. Just a straight up killler. Brutal stuff, brutal battle, loved this so much.
An NPC who brought just such real FEAR to her, both in players, PCs, and audience alike
Otohan might be one of my favorite villains across all campaigns and you explained why really well
She sets up Ludenis as a badass villian too. She was an absolute beast, a attack dog with one goal.
And she was Ludenis's attack dog.
I was absolutely gripped the entire fight scene. Like... Damn.
Best comparison to other media I can think of is Anton Chiguhr, and Matt really played into that with the Lauda's planting of the ring and their previous close call. She didn't need to be fleshed out, her mystery really defined her place in the narrative.
Matt looked defensive to me at the end, I wish him all the courage of his convictions because That was a worthy foe.

I love how Travis shows his leadership skills in this episode "take your time..." Calming down the pace to make sure mistakes aren't made at the table is sometime as important to a game as what your character actually does.

Sam is having HIS moment, Matt is trying to work out in his head on how to play this out, and Marisha is yelling questions that don’t need to be asked or answered in this particular MOMENT. Travis is being a good friend by metaphorically slowing her horse down. He’s not berating her or yelling at her, so he’s being neither rude or harsh. You just need perspective.
He said it in a particular way to calm her down and stop her in her tracks, to think and pause for a moment, to realise that there is no way out ouf this for FCG. To stop trying to fix the situation and let Matt and Sam have the floor. That was powerful and kind of Travis. A true friend and leader.
Please, please, please, bring Matt and Sam for the next episode of 4 Sided Dive, I really really wanna listen to them talk about their feelings from this episode

I said the same thing to my friend. The EXACT same face. I think Matt was faster on the uptick this time that Sam had a devious, campaign changing plan
I already apologized years ago when I realized how wrong I was, but early in campaign 1 I didn’t realize how incredible a player Sam was. That thing about just feeling alive for the first time before THAT? It might be the best role playing I’ve ever seen as part of a brilliant tactical move.
I don't know if Matt will ever see this, but I want to send my full and utter respect and love to him. I obviously don't know exactly what was going on in Matt's mind when the fight with Otohan broke out, but if there was ever a single seed of doubt or regret when he saw how desperate the situation got for Bells Hells, just know that I wouldn't have changed a thing about this episode.
The dice told a story, you could say. All of this was meant to happen, and I am glad it did, however distraught I may be. This was where the story was meant to go, and you told it beautifully. Thank you for what you do Matt, every Thursday. We love you very much. (Sending critter hugs)
Exactly. I don't know what Matt's plan might have been but as storytelling, this would be a masterful stroke. Things sometimes don't work out, actions have consequences. Sometimes, people die, and Sam made FCG's death such an impact that mere combat death rarely has.
I have full faith that Matt had a plan to avoid a TPK. I can think of multiple possible options. I do think Matt wouldn’t have enacted any of those options until at least a couple of characters were down, though. After all, the party got themselves into that situation by significantly pushing the envelope on their recon mission. But FCG’s sacrifice was a more satisfying resolution than some external rescue or the party being forced to surrender. I don’t think Matt was expecting that to be the end of Otohan, but Sam earned it by telling a damn good story.
You could see the gears turning in Matt's head as he debated, "Do I stick to the dice or use my power to prevent a calamity?" I feel like he would have killed at least some of them and maybe captured the rest to preserve their story, but they would have still had to start over with new characters. Just a guess.
i mean, it's not really the dice, Otohan has something like +12 to hit, to resist, to about anything... he had to roll really low to miss anything, where they had to roll high to hit her and do half damage :)
and i mean, that's fine, the only problem is that, like the first time, he forces the fight to them, they can't run, they tried and find her in front of them and deals them out in 2 turns, they had no way out :)

Oh man, I missed the first 20 minutes of the episode on Thursday. Finding out this opened with "I'm a Cat" blew my mind. That ad bit might be cursed...

@@doctorsikander I think she thought he could detonate Otohan directly as an attack, like his berzerker type rage thing. I watched that part a couple of times after reading your comment, and it seemed like her shock was that he had to detonate himself to do it. I know they're actors, I could be wrong. Their sorrow was genuine though.
@@doctorsikander I think as well it could have been directed at ashley, the rest of the crew didn't get to read word for word what her abilities she got with the shard was, and iirc she kept describing a sort of 'i can make myself explode/hurt others in a radius around me' but to a great detriment to herself. But it was hard to tell who marisha and laura were looking at
😭 FCG offered to give his life for his companions so often, it always made me grumpy that he thought of himself as a disposable service for the greater good. I’m glad that when he finally was able to do it, that it wasn’t just as a robot doing his duty. That he recognized himself as actually alive and that it was a sacrifice rather then a service 😭😭😭
As an aside I hope Sam’s next main character (if there is one) is a big sized character like cad or grog just for the variety of it all lol
Insane how close it was to TPK. FCG had 5 hit points at the end, end even that only because he got lucky and Matt rolled 2 points of force damage. At that point the only person not on deaths door was Fearne, every other member of the party hanging by a thread, with some already on the floor. One more turn of Otohan and at least two more people would fall. Which would mean they probably wouldn't be able to put her down before her next turn. Which would be the turn where she knocks down the last of them. ONE BAD DAMAGE ROLL AWAY FROM THE TPK.

What a truly beautiful showing of genuine emotions. You can see how much each and every person at that table loves each other. How Matt was able to hold it together and then improvise the poignantly meaningful closing remarks about heroic sacrifice was astonishing and demonstrates the depths of his empathy, wisdom, and kindness.

I love that in their final fit of rage and anger, FCG, someone who struggled with their mortality the whole campaign and someone who doubted themselves and wondered if they truly did have a soul, essentially said "fuck you, I am alive, and I'm making my own decisions now"

@@777goodgirl At the same time, this would diminish his heroic sacrifice in a DBZ, "death-has-no-stakes" way, and complete his character-arc in a Pinochio "Im-brave-and-finally-can-be-a-real-boy" way. I'm torn. But I'd love FGC being Reincarnated by Fearne in a post-campaign, but not during the campaign.

Otohan has: 418-485hp (fluctuates based on if she had resistance to force damage from Laudna's eldritch blasts, if Matt remembered that she had resistance against Imogen's Psychic Lance, and if she had resistance against what FCG did); enters exultant fury state after losing 299hp and it returned to the top of her turn; 22AC (25 when she goes into exultant fury); has an attack bonus of +14 to her strikes; attacks a total of 52 times in 5 rounds of combat; deals an average output of 23 damage per strike before factoring any resistances (damage range was between 13-37 before resistances are accounted for); uses a total of 17 psionic dice and 4 action surges during the combat; she is a 20th level fighter of the psi warrior subclass; resistance against all known damage when in her exultant fury state; an action economy of 57 (attacks + dashes + potion usage + reactions) for the 5 rounds of combat

Things Bells Hells forgot to do: Imogin could have moved away from Otohan during the first round after hitting her with shocking grasp, since shocking grasp has the effect of robbing the target of their reaction that turn; Fearne could have used cunning action to disengage during the 4th round, after casting Aura of Life, to get out of Otohan's range of attack; Laudna kept forgetting to give somebody advantage whenever she used silvery barbs; Fearne should have been adding 1d8 fire damage to each of her flaming rays that hit in the 3rd round rather than 1d8 to the spell in total, since that spell specifies separate attacks (it's one of the best spells Fearne can use when she gets that extra damage)
Iffy stuff in Otohan's favor: she used a total of 17 psi dice, when her max should be 12, but they may have been restored when she entered her exultant fury; Telekinetic Control during the first round seems like Telekinetic Movement, which only works on willing creatures, but this is likely a homebrewed version for Otahan's use; Dealing full slashing damage to Chetney in his wolf form would only work if the weapons were magically enchanted rather than telekinetically infused with power since Matt has previously made a distinction between the two when Ashley asked if her magical resistance would grant her advantage in a saving throw against a telekinetic effect, which Matt said it did not work that way
Iffy stuff that Bell's Hells did: Fearne randomly did 5 (reduced to 2) fire damage during the 4th round that I don't know where it came from, though I presume it has something to do with her fire titan abilities; FCG revived Chetney even though we were under the impression that revival magic isn't working right now, though we learned that information when Sending was also down, so maybe the divine magics are coming back onlline
Things that broke the rules in Otohan's favor: Matt forgot to calculate the falling platform damage in the first round due to the chaos of the moment; Otohan used multiple psionic strikes on given turns (5 on her final turn) which the ability explicitly states that it can only be used once per turn; during the first round of combat, Otohan used a legendary action following Caviar's turn, but LAs can only be used after a PC's turn, Imogen could have Shocking grasped her and moved away before Otohan had the chance to strike; Otohan used protective field at the top of the second round even though shocking grasp stripped her of her reaction that turn, saving her 12 points of damage; while the players caught Otohan nearly using 2 bonus actions in the 2nd round, she winds up using 2 bonus actions during the 3rd (which causes FCG to go unconscious right before his turn, losing his turn to a death saving throw) and 5th rounds (which allowed her to reach FCG after stabbing Imogen) of combat; death saves are made at the beginning of the turn, so Imogen should have had her whole turn to use during the 3rd round; Laudna didn't get flanking with Fearne during the 3rd round when she tried to use Hunger of the Shadow (I don't actually know what that ability is called), possibly turning that miss into a hit (she should have been flanking since Matt told Liam that Fearne was taking the place he would need to be in to get flanking with Laudna, meaning that those two were in flanking positions already)
Things that broke the rules in BH's favor: Ashton used Eratic Defense in the 3rd round (which should cost his reaction) after holding his action to attack which uses his reaction to activate, meaning he should have taken an extra 8 damage from that attack; Fearne uses a second reaction in the 5th round for an opportunity attack after already using shield, which means Otohan should have taken 4 less damage
Some personal gripes I have about the combat: Matt picked and chose how to interpret Ashton's gravity ability - when Otohan was making L.A. attacks within 15ft of Ashton, she didn't get disadvantage on those attacks since she hadn't yet started her turn within the area of effect, but when her turn came and she exited the area of effect, she didn't keep the disadvantage from starting her turn there - the rule should either be that all attacks made within the area of effect have disadvantage due to the logical nature of how the gravity pull would work or it would have to be that anybody who starts in the gravity well get the disadvantage against other creatures for their whole turn if you wanted to follow RAW, you shouldn't be able to pick and choose between the two; Fearne's Titan form needs some work - it takes her full action to activate and all we've seen it do is add 1d8 fire damage to damage that she outputs, either there's a lot that we haven't seen yet, or it's coming off more like the blessing of the fire elemental, rather than the shard of a flame titan; Otohan is a broken character - she was a level 16 when they first fought and BHs were all level 7, we've seen their achievements and how they clawed their way up into power, going into dangerous places (primarily on their own) to gain their 6 levels to where they are now, Otohan was primarily with her army or with Ludinous, or with Liliana and somehow she gained 4 levels to be level 20 in the same time??? maybe it's because I didn't see what she was up to, but I feel cheated, then there is her exultant fury which would be alright if it bumped up her AC and gave her resistances, but it seems to have given her resistance to all types of damage (under the assumption that eldritch blast was doing have damage, since force damage is the rarest thing for dnd 5e stuff to have resistance to), but it had the effect of restoring her psi dice and giving back her action surges, mind you, fighters only get a second action surge at level 17... the level that full casters get access to 9th level spells... that would be the equivalent of Raishan getting to use another meteor swarm against vox machina once she was getting low on health, there's also the idea that it seems that ability essentially gives her the effects of a short rest besides health, but the only times that I've seen any such effects is an incredibly high arcana check by Caleb & Essek in C2, a deal with a betrayer god while equipping their weapon of divergence in EXU, or a successful divine intervention in a dimension 20 campaign, you simply don't give that type of effect to anybody without a consequence or a very difficult role (I know that Matt can do what he likes to keep the game interesting, this it just me ranting), but we didn't see any evidence of sacrifice or consequences in Otohan going super Sayan, the final thing that I was annoyed by is the concept of Otohan being foul, Matt said that killing her target quickly is what she is meant to do during the first round when he killed Chetney, but that would imply that she is an assassin type character, but assassins don't get an extra 180+ health out of nowhere - as a 20th level fighter with a constitution modifier of 2 (she had a +8 on a constitution saving throw against one of the blights and soldiers are proficient in constitution saving throws, proficiency modifier at level 20 is +6, so the base constitution modifier is +2) can have a maximum of 240hp if they get a 10 on every level up health dice, giving her an extra 40 is no problem since she could have the sturdy feat, but she had somewhere between 380 (379 damage had been dealt before FCG's final blow) and 485 health, which is just disgusting for an assassin type character to be given that much health, if she wanted to solo them down, one by one, she probably could have done so - kill Chetney, kill FCG, kill Laudna, kill Orym in that order and then run away because none of them can catch her... please let me know if I missed anything or if you disagree with my stance on any of this, I'm just glad Otohan is finally dead, though it is bittersweet
One thing I'd suggest would be that her Exaltant Fury was very much *like* a mythic activation - if she had ~300Hp, the mythic activation restoring 50% (150) is about normal for that, as well as refreshing several of the base abilities, giving more damage resistance and sometimes adding new mythic specific abilities. I'd say that refreshing both action surges, rather than just one, might have been a touch too much, but she probably did restore half her psi dice as well at the time, which would fit the maths, I think.
If the exaltants are powerful, and Imogen is so particularly powerful/potentially powerful, then I really felt that her getting KOed and then rolling the 20 to regain 1hp and get up was *Really* the perfect time for something like that to show up, and I was really sad that they flubbed the ruling on that and skipped her turn instead. There are few things more dramatic and special in combat scenarios than that (getting up an having a turn from a nat20 death save), and it was such a shame that they let it slip by.
The implication is that fighters don't want to take their enemies out as quickly as possible. Of course they also do.
My conclusion is the same it's always been. Matt is not that great at balance, likes giving his villains PC levels way too much, and gets emotionally invested in "challenging" the party, so he fudges rulings arbitrarily in his favour to extend fights.
None of these make him a bad DM, he's a pretty good one, but for a wargame table? Nobody would play with him, his rulings are far too erratic
I loved this post! Slight correction though - Legendary Actions can be used at the end of another creature’s turn, not necessarily only at the end of a PC’s turn.

there's something incredibly sad about players' characters' deaths, but there's something even sadder about a player's character who dies sacrificing themselves to save their friends. i think one of the reasons why this is especially painful, more than molly's death, or laudna's death (for me) is bc it reminds me of calamity and how in that last leg, they all knew they were about to die with the city, and even then, the ring of brass put all of their hopes and items to try to make cerrit go back to his family. fcg knew they all had very little chances to make it out alive, but he also put all he had left to try to make sure their friends wouldn't die and would finish their mission.
I agree. There's always an impact with character deaths, but this one hits harder because of the significance of it. Plus it's the only one that (might be a controversial opinion) but I hope can't be undone. Bringing him back would undo the impact of the sacrifice in my opinion. Of course maybe at the end of the season if they all make it maybe making a deal with Changebringer to bring him back after they save the Gods would make some narrative sense. But the way FCG went out means no coming back so finding a way to undo that feels like it would cheapen things. Aside from that I agree, gave me huge calamity vibes. There was no way they would've made it out without their faithful caregiver.

Thinking back to one of the 4 Sided Dice episodes where Sam was talking about the "big" moments with the party clerics in the other campaigns and he said that he wanted a similar moment for C3, I thought that moment played out with the clutch Banishment on FCG and Fearne a few episodes ago. I was wrong.
*minor spoilers* The saddest thing about the fight this episode, is that Chetney couldn’t apply his bloated agony curse, which if I recall, does increasing damage every time the target does more than 1 attack. So just imagine how impactful that could have been.
Yep, her one shotting chetney at the beginning made this WAY worse than it should have been. If I remember correctly he literally never got a hit in, other than the shatter at the very end.
I think it's also one of the reasons why Matt when after him at first because she has a LOT of attacks and would have ended herself more with attacks than any of them would.
I can't speak to Matt's choice in targeting, but unfortunately bloated agony only applies once to the multattack, meaning it wouldn't be useless, but probably not game changing

Man it’s episodes like this that remind me on how good an RPer and storyteller Sam is. Scanlan had many moments like this, having to use his his 9th lvl to kill Vecna instead of wish for Vax to be saved, Scanlan’s original departure, Scanlan using his last wish to bring Vax for Vex’s wedding, Nott purposely incurring the wrath of the manticore by killing its baby to save Fjord, purposely noting using cunning action disengage to incur an AOE when Nott was at low HP to allow Jester to escape the blue dragon, and now this. His whole speech as FCG was beautiful.

Other Sam moment that broke me (though only on the rewatch) was the scene with Molly and Nott, where Nott was trying to steal something from Molly or Fjord and Molly caught her... asked her what she'd give him in return for the "letter" and she said something along the lines of "a vial of acid", which is the same thing that Yeza gave to her...

I think that the supreme potion was the thing that disbalanced the fight, another healing potion but the supreme would be just fine and the party would have handle it.
I started with arrival at Kraghammer back in November 2022. What an amazing episode to finally catch up to all the other critters out there. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Yeah, I agree, both these fights with her have been some of the most tense ever, you really feel like there's TPK potential with her even more so than more typically formidible enemies like dragons, she's a real force to be reckoned with. When the fight began this time I thought "oh they've levelled up a bunch since last time this should be hard but fine" and then a round or two in Otohan showed why she's the infamous legend she is. I also like her cause she's the kinda charecter I like to make in video games, just loads of burst damage potential.
Exactly, and that's what it SHOULD BE, saw some comments complaining about her or how she's too OP... but people gotta remember she's in the top 3 most powerful enemies in this campaign along with Ludinus and Liliana, she's not a random level 13 character on a reckon mission on the moon, her name carried weight.

you know over the years as a DM and as a player I have had heated conversations about thing being demonstrated at the end of this session. Role Playing vs Roll Playing and how they relate. Personally as a player I like two types of games, one which is more for fun is a sort of rule lawyer humor snark fest where the characters by nature are a bit OP. The other is where Role Playing >>> Roll Playing (this does not mean that the dice does not matter). As a GM/DM I have table top rules that can be put on top of most games which allow a player who does something in their role... to buff the dice rolls significantly to enable the outcome of their role playing to occur.
As a DM when you confront several of the scenes in this episode, where your party is just being overwhelmed, heading perhaps towards a tpk because they made some bad strategic decisions and so on, and you get what happens at the end you have a choice. Honor the Role or honor the Roll.
Matt deserves profound credit not only for his skill as a DM in dealing with the situation but the art of being a DM in making Sam/FCG's sacrifice viable. Purely based on the mechanics employed by this enemy, she highly likely could have survived Sam/FCGs sacrifice. That I think was the look on Matt's face as he was running thru his options. In role playing terms, FCG's Role Playing act of sacrifice was worthy of giving the party an out on the TPK. So in terms of the art of the DM he honored. The 10d8 was probably based on a likely number to have a chance to drop the boss below zero, and I would not be surprised if in his head, Matt added FCG's Constitution to the damage total, and had it still been low, he would have made up some mechanic to do the job.
Yep. I dealt with a martyr suicide from one of my pcs (upcast glyph of warding plus some other nasty shit they had concocted) and had to internally justify their actions to make sure I honored their decision to self sacrifice.
(I ended up just taking the max damage roll of the spells involved + HP total of PC for the damage rolls)
I can't believe Sam did it again he is a master at pulling out the emotional roller coaster of a scene. This had me in tears thank you critical roll team for always being so amazing.

You know what would have been better? Not putting his players against unbeatable odds. Still waiting to hear about the boon Aston got for beating an impossible challenge. All we know is their at -2 to their con. Their transformation came from their interaction with fern, not the challenge. Bringing Laudna back from the dead required severing her ties to Delilah, but she’s back. Imogen had to roll over and over ever dream so she would statistically eventually lose to have her powers link with predathos, the list goes on…
@@Robit-d20 this whole campaign has been about beating unbeatable odds. instead of rolling over and submitting to powers waaaaay above their league, they tighten the tourniquet, stand up, and keep swinging. its about not giving up despite the odds, finding a way to win no matter what. yeah matt could make it easier, but that would take away from the whole point of the story

Beautiful guys! I've watched all of campaign 2 and 3. And the most powerful bit to rewatch was Caduceus's love speech to Trent Icathon and now this! Such a boon to the soul

Yeah, I feel like Matt seriously underestimated Otohan's power when scripting this fight. With four attacks, she's clearly a 20-level fighter. By giving her an offhand attack and three legendary actions per turn, she had eight attacks per turn, or twelve attacks with an action surge. Sure, he rolled well, but she would have been hard enough to fight at level 20 by itself. Between her DEX and clearly magical weapons, she had to have been getting at least +12-maybe more like +14 or +15) to each attack roll. She's going to hit most all of the time. Her weapons did magical damage to which no one in the party had resistance. Having her exalt to gain resistance to all damage PLUS giving her two more action surges PLUS giving her a superior healing potion PLUS having legendary resistances was just too much. When Matt said that she had her action surges back, I immediately thought, "Well, there's the TPK." I can't even imagine how this fight would have gone if she had the backpack and its abilities for the whole fight.
Good on Sam for what he did. But Matt kinda screwed up to get them to the point where that was necessary.

Ashley spent hours using Mister in the beginning, even asked for Mister to be with her on the bombing run, has been holding the Mister puppet the whole game, turns into a fire monster, doesn't use Mister to harass/blind Otahan during the fight.

I rewatched this moment and I think (could be miss reading it entirely) sam rolled to help make the decision and then him and Ashley were whispering and I couldn't make it out entirely but it seems he said something about having an idea and Ashley having no context for what he is about to do says he should do it.

Everyone was like "you can't bring her down, so heal" and he said "well, I do have something..." I think he has the idea for a good bit and that's why he put distance between him and crew and why he gave the lady d6 to put his stress over the edge

why dies death = good story? the story was already good before this episode. all this showed was that even Matt f*cks up and miscalculates when creating a villain

I thought I had replied earlier and it seems like I never sent the comment, lol! Well, it was too long anyways, haha.
In short, I wasn't trying to say death makes a good story. I meant it more like everything about the episode and how things ended up happening felt really like a good story for the episode itself. There's different points I tried to make earlier about the different elements that made me feel that way. But I guess I can wait to see if anyone is interested in knowing them rather than to start nerdy-rambling on my own, hahaha.
I also tried to make my points about why I don't feel like Matt made a miscalculation when creating Otohan. But I'll just try the same approach, leaving the main idea and articulating if anyone seems to be saying they're interested. I do think it's a cool discussion to have and I'm sure there's many different takes on it!
That said, hopefully I was able to clarify what I meant. I'm sure the way I wrote things felt ambigous, as I was trying not to say anything too explicit in order to avoid spoilers for any casual reader. Once the rest of the answers are opened I'm fine mentinoning everything, hahaha. Thanks for pointing out your observations as it gave me the chance to try and clarify. 😁

This was either top 1 or top 2 episode of the entire campaign so far, depending on how flustered you were by that Vax cameo during the Solstice.
I know people probably already forgot, but this is ALSO the episode where Laura Freaking Bailey dropped two consecutive 31s for a major plot twist.
This episode, the ashton dual-shard episode, and the first Otohan duel were some of the most intense nail-biting episodes of actual play I've ever watched hahaha

How is her bonus that high though? did she pick up expertise that I'm not aware of - I don't know how her bonus was higher than +10
Edit: I have been made aware of feats that give expertise - I was unaware of those before. I might look into taking one if I get the chance
@benpalmer1583 She likely picked the 'skill expert' feat at lv12 for expertise.
@@benpalmer1583 She's likely a 20th level character and with maxed dex and prof it's not difficult to get over +10 I believe Ashton and Orm have 10-11 plus right now to hit.
