- "Valkyrie" is a meticulous thriller based on a large-scale conspiracy within the German army to assassinate Hitler, leading to a failed bombing attempt on July 20, 1944. At the center of the plot was Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, played here by Tom Cruise as the moving force behind the attempted coup, which led to 700 arrests and 200 executions, including von Stauffenberg's. Because we know Hitler survived, the suspense is centered in the minds of the participants, who call up the Reserve Army and actually arrest SS officials before discovering that their bomb did not kill its target.

I am a film buff, and WW2 uniform(German)collector. The "look" of this film was fantastic. Best reproduction German uniforms in a movie I have even seen. NO CGI airplanes as it should be!!!!!

That P-40 is my schools mascot! It flies over our school first day of every year, it's in a museum here in Boise, as someone who has had the same plane fly over, and as a ww2 buff, it's insane

Its amazing how technology has evolved since 2008, were aircraft CGI was very noticeable when today for example the F-14 in Maverick was absolutely believable

Some are but there is an actual BF109 there with the correct engine. It's the background at 3:50. The foreground is an HA1112 though. Interestingly when they talk about the BF109, they have the HA in the background lol.
I wanna have one of those bad ass airplanes. 😘

Of course the Juncker JU-52 is the iconic archetypal passenger transport plane of The Third Reich....as are Templehof the iconic archetypal airport of Berlin.
But Staufffenberg DID NOT make his round trip to Wolf's Redoubt in Rastenburg in a JU-52 from Templehof which primarily served as a CIVILIAN airport....
Stauffenberg flew from the Luftwaffe fighter airbase Langsdorf.....in a Heinkel HE-111.

Yup ....the 109s are Spanish built, with Merlin engines ....not WWII ....not true 109s
