I was running rough for a few months, and I got my pocket aces cracked at least twice every session. I would lose to every decent hand imaginable, and even like pocket fives or lower. One time I went all in pre-flop on the aces just to get the other players to fold, so it was heads up between me and the small blind he had pocket deuces. He hit a two on the river to kick me out of the tournaments. Still you gotta realize that was just a statistical analogy doesn’t happen every day like you said, you play 1 million hand those pocket aces should win most or close to the time even though AA Vs 22 (2’s) May have like a 52% Vs 38%win R
Anyways, just keep at it bro. I didn’t let that bother me and the last time I played at the casino I walked out with a profit so you just have to be in a positive mindset. That’s it

what is your suggestion with a bunch of limpers in front of you and you have a hand in your range?
Limping preflop has many advantages. Most games the players just want to see the flop so 3 betting won’t be an advantage. You will still most often go 4 ways to the flop and end up spending money just to lose anyways post flop.
Limping allows you to conceal your hand strength, even more so post flop.
Limping allows you to see more flops for cheaper
Limping a lot increases the strength of your preflop 3bets
Point #5: Hand Selection - Do you still only play these hands with 4 other players? 3? 2? Are you willing to be blinded out sitting at a table for 2+ hours never (or rarely) making any of the starting hands on your cheat sheet? Point #4: You have AA from UTG at a 9 handed table, and you strictly follow your own tight playing rules. How often do you raise and get 8 folds? Limping allows you to re-raise when late position players raise their weak Ax hands, their suited rag connectors etc.Also on this point, are you raising 22 from UTG 6 handed, and are you continuing on a flop containing 2 Broadway cards (with no 2)? Point #2: All in with top pair - so situation ally dependent. What are you doing when THEY shove on your careful 1/2 to 2/3 pot bet? Are you folding on dry boards? On wet boards when there is a very real possibility they only have a draw?
All good basic poker advice Nathan...I would like to add though on limping, the tendency is for other players to call a limper with a flat call because they are looking to get in cheap and hope no one raises so they can play J9 suited or some other marginal hand especially from an earlier position. Better players especially in tournaments when that happens will raise in the CO or BTN sometimes with nothing to get people to fold and get position on anyone who is left that calls the raise. It does take a lot of guts to raise an unopened pot with anything less than a premium hand in earlier/middle positions...but I remember studying a lot Dan Harrington books and he would say that you need to open with an even larger raise with a decent but non-premium hand to protect it...such as TT...than you would with a hand like AA, KK, or AK. Thoughts?

Evolution in Poker, online and live, is incredible fast. Look how opening betsizes changed: 3 or 4x was standart. Now 2.2 to 2.6x. Or 4 bet was always AA or KK. Now u bluff-4bet KQ preflop to fold vs opponents all-in.... Harrington created many fundamentally important strategies. But don't try everything from 1990s today 🫣
It would probably work better in LP at 1/2. At higher limits, you'll get exploited by players paying attention to bet sizes.

There have been many things you talk about that I just never considered.
I used to be that fish that would play any ace or face and would always pay to see a flop. Even with garbage cus you never know... lol.
My problem now is the crew I regualrly play cash games with are fish themselves, and after a few drinks, they get a little maniacle... so nailing down their range or what they got by how they bet is difficult cus they play a pair of 6's the same as a full house. 😆

I’m assuming this is more talking about cash games, but regardless limping with a strong hand can be extremely advantageous. If someone limping shows weakness, you’ll likely put them on a bluff rather than trying to bleed you for value when nearing the river.
A great example was me limping in with AK of clubs in a tournament today. Know this was the final table and this table was often raising pre flop to prevent limping. This hand that didn’t happen and there were three of us. I flop the nut straight and the three of us check to the river. An ace had came on the turn but no one bet it. No extra clubs came and on the flop I bet 10k which was a little more than double the pot for the blinds we called pre flop. One of the guys called probably with a weak ace not putting me on anything. Had I raised preflop I likely wouldn’t have gotten that extra value (and a flush ticket if that matters).
Limping, like everything in poker, has a time, place, and correct position to do it. Also with a non made hand if you miss big, it is a lot easier to throw away money you limped with than the money you raised with and possibly even what you made a continuation bet with. However with made pocket pairs, you absolutely want to get most people out and make it heads up, or just steal the blinds if your PP is below 10s.
FYI: I ended up chopping the prize pool for a 3 way tie for second and one ‘first’ place winner that got a little extra.
Well talking about losing bad stories... I lost to a royal flush when I haven't even played 2000 hands (guess) and for those who are interested in the odds of a royal flush... It's about 1 in 2.6 million hands
I played in a holdem game folded preflop every bidy else called the dealer put a royal on the table everybody but me split a 9000 dollar royal special. They all checked the whole hand after preflop. Just sat in the seat. Lol

Agree with everything, but i want to note, that limping can be good aswell when done correctly, having a limping range both premium hands and worse.
That is literally how Dnegs won pokergo 25k highroller tournament, by limping.
Seems to be a good strategy in some situations at microstakes too. I limp with any suited high card and get to see a flop and a chance at a flush draw. And since there's so many players in that pot, I can gently increase it by investing very little in it and then if I do hit my flush, one or two will call a big bet and usually show some shitty pairs. The thing is, it doesn't really show weakness if all the players at the table are also doing it and used to it.
Kind of small sample size, the only position limping is optimal is the small blind. Imagine you're in the big blind with a mediocre hand, how do want your opponents to play? Raise or give you a free flop? Do what makes life hard for your opponents. Also you can't 4-bet if you don't raise first and 4-betting is awesome!

Nathan is talking to beat small stakes and the long term to success in this game. I agree with Nathan. Dnegs is a great poker player, but he doesn't play small stakes. He has a different style and plays the player

@@universal3024 Yea, if you have a sweaty tryhard pro at your microstakes table, which doesn't happen much. Otherwise, use the appropriate strategy for the table. If being "weak" gets you wins more often, then it's not weak.

This seems like bad advice. The first bit says be predictable (youll never win big pots that way). Number two says blind bet regularly. Sure it might work sometimes but when someone gets the best hand you can get burned. You only need to lose once. I recommend just getting experience.

Don't tell bullshit. When you are dealer or on CO position then you pay the bet amount on 2nd number. Just now i lost QK hand on cut off position from a 4,8 hand
