I am doing this now. I saw green growth in the middle 8 hours after I put the end in water. The next day it's 1/4 inch. This is the closest thing I have seen to magic.
Has it grown by now?
@@thetongueofangels1882 It has grown really well. I keep getting new growths so it is getting wider
@@thetongueofangels1882 I checked it today. The leaves are 5 inches talk and there are 22 of them.

Seriously.
If you take a super thin, almost see through slice off the bottom to make a fresh cut it will happen even faster as that part gets dried out when harvested. When the roots start to get approximately 3/4" out the bottom I go plant it in soil and it makes a full head again and again.
You should've made this video
Dang, all these things I throw away I could have simple regrow?! I feel cheated! Anyway, green garden here I come. Thanks girl for this amazing knowledge. :)
Hahaha! Same.
Exactly. It looks like most people don´t know it.
I know what you mean, Kadian Webb. Now we can learn. :)
Mine are very slow at growing what am l doing wrong?
Lol@feel cheated! Same here😒
I’m just starting to see my lettuce grow. It’s amazing, as this is my first time trying to grow food. I also have peppers growing from store bought seeds. 😀
Should try growing some delicious herbs next! Rosemary and basil would be a great start.
How are you growing the peppers
Me too it’s so exciting 😊
Some how I’ve gotten apple trees to grow but not the peppers
Love this! The fact that I can do this on the kitchen counter is awesome, because I live in an apartment. Can't wait to try this! Thanks for this video!
I'm currently growing lettuce too, day 7 and you're right it's fun to watch it grow daily. I'm doing it with celery too. Hope you are having a great day
I recently started celery too!! 🥰
@@JennStavropoulos i have a bunch of mini ones sprouting off, they're so cute! Hope yours flourish!
How did you grow celery? @@SuzyTopAgent
@@5bbya same way in water but both didn't work well for me, got some straggly shoots on both and difficult to keep water clean so I threw away.
I am years late. Lol But I did this yesterday afternoon and this morning I have lettuce sprouts coming up the middle already. That is truly magic lol
Thanks, I needed this for my science project I'm doing.
I never knew in all my years this could be done... And it is in the works. After one week I am amazed!!! Thanks you!!!!!

This is such an easy way to grow lettuce, I was amazed at how it changed everyday. I just transferred mine to a pot of soil and can start setting it outside now. Looking forward to trying the other veggies as well, thanks for the idea!
🥰🥰🥰
So much fresher and greener🌿💕
I started doing this like a week ago...there are some shoots...so I was looking up if I needed to put it in soil and found you, subbed, and I'm glad to know I only need water. Thank you for that also good to know that it continues to grow...so I'm going to get another stalk of romaine so I can have two growing at the same time.
Took your advice and voila!!!! I have lettuce growing!!! Thank you for posting. Diane

Oh wow, will definitely try!
Lettuce is always more bitter at the white part. I has many a spit moment as a child. Younger leaves do tend to be sweeter. Also there are medicinal qualities to lettuce, especially wild varieties.
Love it. Thank you.
You have saved me money! Thank you’
Thank you for the information< I needed it

Thanks for making this video
Can't believe it grows so fast! I definitely need to try this!! And great to hear your voice, congrats on the move! :)
Pineapple tops work too!! Well actually, not a lot of regrowth, but the tops can be kept alive in water and then soil. They make cute houseplants. :)
Megan wow that’s awesome!!
Your counters! 😍
I’m going to try this out right now !!
Thank you 💙
Can’t wait to try this with other veggies! 🥬🥕🥒
Great video, I learned a lot. Thanks
It's Awesome. This video helped me a lot. And it's wow to know that it can be grown with just water.🙂🙂
I just did this! I tried two methods- cutting short and leaving some leaves to encourage photosynthesis so the plant doesnt die. The latter seems to be doing better, but my growth under grow lights is much slower than what you had. Green onions work well with this method too.
Thank you so much!!!!
Tried it Monday with my romaine and this morning there was a sprout. I could not believe it. What a way to save money and have fun.
Thanks and great video. Will try this on my channel.
Growing at the counters

I'm here because last night I made a salad with a beautifully bright green, crisp, perfect lettuce, and wanted to replicate it. Thanks...😊

Wonderful! 😀
Love it thanks for sharing God bleds
Thanx 4 the tipsgod bless

Yes, I have regrown some of my vegetables. I tried the romaine lettuce first, put out roots and I transplanted into a pot of soil. Rather than putting out a bunch of leaves, it grew more like a stalk with small leaves growing off the stalk. The stalk and leaves at one point toppled over so I staked it upright again. After about a month, I decided to harvest the leaves to make a very small salad. After that, the core planted in the soil seemed to go into shock, never regrew anything and eventually rotted away. I've got a few more romaine cores going, plus a lot of scallions, celery, beets and bok choy. I've got green leaf lettuce and arugula, started from seeds, growing in a small self-water planter with soil. In another self-watering planter, I'm growing spinach from seeds but it's going to take a few weeks for the spinach to get big enough to start harvesting. They're all in my windows since I live in an apartment and have no outdoor space.
That’s called bolting. I have a video on that ☺️
Lettuce is an annual plant. It wants to throw up a seed stalk at the end of its life-cycle as a means of dispersing its seeds. The leaves on the stalk are not only small, they are bitter because they are full of latex. Next year, collect the seeds when the flowers dry out. You'll get hundreds of them from each stalk -- if you are alert.
Cool! Thanks for sharing this info.
Thanks for watching 🥰
Thanks for sharing! How many times can you regrow using the same lettuce bottom?
I'm doing this with celery. I love gardening, I have a mini garden on my balcony.
