I am so glad i was brought up in the 60s starting with Dylan, then The Beatles then The Stones. Their early music was undeniably their best. Mick & Keith both 81yrs this year. Insanity where the time has gone.
Alexander recorded the original in Muscle Shoals Alabama supported by mega talented local session players - Such awesome recordings and history came out of Fame and Muscle Shoals Sound studios way back when... \m/
Good that you mention him. A lot of British groups in the 1960s got their material from Black American artists who never enjoyed the success they deserved.
@@SteveB542 it’s honestly so heartbreaking to me as I’m a small musician but it’s sad that you can create something so well and not get the recognition it deserves just based upon what they see on ur skin
73 here (almost!) Yup, so in love with all the early Stones albums. They were so so sweet and certainly made some really classy and unforgettable music the whole time I was in high school!
Absolutely adorable. The kids are so young and classy, omg. Love me some early Stones. Love Keef's being full of his tunes and sparkles haha... Love Mick's looking THIS adorable and innocent, what a cutie. Bill and Brians singing back vocals can not get any cooler than this. Oooohhh classic.
@@joesephsizian9113 apparently you have read little about Brian regarding the Rolling Stones. He was extremely talented as a musician who could play many instruments. Taught Mick how to play the harmonica.
I loved this song when I was 14. My very close friend Nils, who patiently listened to it with me, over and over again, recently died. He just had the time to let me know that he still remembered - after more than 50 years of not seeing each other. ❤️ Will always think of him when I hear it...
One of my absolute favorite best songs ever, which for me made them 2nd best after the Beatles. Beautiful to watch them from the beginning which was their best.
Arthur Alexander would be so proud! I've been a Stones fan since the beginning. This performance is perfection and the sincerity and emotion they put into it is so heartfelt. Sometimes we forget that this was IT for them.
So young and skinny. I have never heard this song before and really like it. I have been listening to the Stones since the mid-60s and bought my first vinyl album of theirs in 1966.
WoW ; Between Aurthur Alexander ^ The Rolling Stones , Let Me Say , It's A Beautiful Song Because Oldies Are The Best & The Originals Are Always In The Best Of Our Lives . They Keep Us Going With Our Memories & Our Feelings That We Still Have Inside & Out Of Our Own THOUGHTS & MEMORIES.. Thank You Jesus For Giving Us Our Memories.. Amen: With Lots Of Love.. You ask me to give up the hand of the girl I love You tell me, I'm not the man she's worthy of But who are you to tell her who to love? That's up to her, yes, and the Lord above You better move on Well I know you can buy her fancy clothes But I believe she's happy with me without those things Still you beg me to set her free But my friend, that will never be You better move on Now I don't blame you for loving her But can't you understand, man, she's my girl And I, never never ever gonna let her go 'Cuz I, yeah, I love her so I think you better go now, I'm getting mighty mad You ask me to give up the only love I've ever had Maybe I would, oh, but I love her so I'm never gonna let her go You better move on
What a fantastic video! I didn’t realize the RS did this until I watched the video about “Muscle Shoals” on CZcams. The original that Mick adored was recorded in 1961 by Arthur Alexander, who wrote and sang his own song. Alexander was a hotel bellhop in Florence, Alabama. According to the documentary, the song was the first record of Fame Studios, Muscle Shoals, Alabama producer Rick Hall who “discovered” Alexander in Florence where Hall had his first recording studio. It was only later he moved his shop to Muscle Shoals, which is adjacent to Florence. Hall’s very first record was a hit. It reached #24 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1962. The session musicians on the original recording included David Briggs, piano, Terry Thompson, guitar, Forest Riley, acoustic guitar, Norbert Putnam, bass guitar, Jerry Carrigan, drums, and unknown back up singers. Watch the movie. It’s great. 🧨
P.S. If you look for the Arthur Alexander video on CZcams watch the one on the ‘Felix Offenbach’ channel. Apparently there are other recordings floating around that upon closer scrutiny are not quite as good as the original produced by Rick Hall. There are people in the comments on the other “wannabe” versions that say they are not the version Mick Jagger listened to. Perhaps there are other original versions on CZcams, but the comments in the “Felix Offenbach’ channel video say it’s the real deal and it definitely sounds better to me.🧨
The Beatles may be the pioneers in some regards but to me it is the Stones who are the real deal. This tune is my all time favorite of them since 1972.
The Rolling Stones at their very best! 1964..
Absolutely!
