Winter Camping in the White Mountains of NH

- On this trip I set off to Mount Israel in the area of Sandwich, New Hampshire. The forecast for the mountain was alright; but the forecast for southern NH, (where I live) was increasing from regular snow to "a winter storm," with s small chance of it coming farther north. This weather confusion caused me to consider whether I should be worried about this enough to go downhill.

Excellent pack, my Kelty‘s been with me to some awesome backcountry.
My husband has one too. He thinks they are secretly still producing them.
Great job as usual, it's beginning to feel like you have a film crew doing the photography chores, a compliment to your ever evolving editing skill set!
My true self is the editor. The camera man role is fun. Being the director is interesting but sometimes I don't realize the right way until after it happens - so that must be why in the movies they do multiple "takes." Being the talking head is the most challenging role because it isn't natural to me. It's hard to keep alert to what I am projecting out to others because I tend to be so "in my own head" most of the time. All this together is quite a riot!
You make it look fun and you certainly make it look real!!@@RachelWhelton
I always appreciate the night shots of the sky
Glad you like them! All the positive comments about the night shots has me studying up to improve them.
The six or seven shooting stars was a real bonus to the sparkling night photography! You’re also giving me some ideas for a few summer days hikes.
Thanks. Yeah, nice mountain. Good sky views.
I’m absolutely amazed at what you do! Solo camp and doing all the things! Beautiful night sky. Awesome job!
Thanks. It's good to get outside. I'm enjoying winter but I look forward to spring so I can be outside more.
Great time lapse night photography! Especially like the one with the twinkling star looking lights over the town. Funny how NH didn’t get any snow after all that hype about a big storm coming.
Last time I was here I checked out the campsites off the parking lot. They looked nice and there was even an open and nicely kept/supplied bathroom.
Thanks for taking us along!
Ahh that is good to know about the base campsites. Thanks!
Loved the time lapse and still shots of the night sky. ❤ The storm was a total bust for us in Nashua. We ended up with a dusting on the grass. I guess I’m not going to complain. We need the snow in the Whites, though.
Yes, we need new snow to cover post holes and adorn the trees. When the snow goes and the ground looks so barren and flattened and dry, it is sad like that. Needs new snow to build up until true spring when it will serve the next purpose. Seeing as how it is already mid-Feb, seems low odds of the "right" amount of snow coming now.
Thanks for sharing your videos, really enjoying them! My hubby and I were at Mead Base Conservation Center Tuesday for a quick walk to Beede and Lower Falls after lunch. Such a beautiful area and the cows alongside the trail were beautiful. 😊
That is awesome! I will keep in mind to visit the falls in the future. Thanks. Yes, the cows looked happy. Laying down next to the hay bin. Like me eating at the refrigerator.
Nice video for those of us who need to live vicariously at the moment. One more subscription in my library.
Thanks. Yes, I feel like when I'm not making one, I'm watching somebody else's camp video for the vicarious serenity. These couple weeks I have to be home for stuff - but in March I shall return to the wild!
@@RachelWhelton I highly recommend Foresty Forest
Yes! I watch him. Loved the one where he got chased by a big horn sheep.@@airstreamwanderings3683
Thank-you! Nice to see some gear companies actually up warranty and send you a 'new' burner/stove.
Yes, MSR warranty department was sharp, very good at communication and helping keep me safe out there with the fuel situation.
Absolutely love your night photography!
Thanks so much! The encouragement is driving to do better. Had some exposure challenges this time but I'll get it.
Thats what I love about photography, a never ending challenge and never ending learning.@@RachelWhelton
Great video all around, those night shots are spectacular.
Thanks!
Loved the shots of your tent at night.
Thanks!
I like the way every time there is a beautiful starry sky shot a bunch of heavenly music starts playing. : ) And I'm glad you got that new replacement stove.
Yeah and yeah. It's fun when I lay the music onto the editor and sometimes it seems to magically line up just perfectly with the scene.
The sunset on the summit was spectacular 🥾🥾💕😎
Sunsets from mountain tops must be one of the best things in life. Never gets old.
beautiful scenery. Shirtsleaves in the snow? Whay was the temp?
It was mid to high 20s but I felt so heated going uphill. Once at the summit the chill hit me! Night temps were around 20. I forgot to get a shot of the thermometer.
