  • On this little adventure, I hike up to the ravine to have a look around before the snow falls.
There are many more varieties of lichen in the White Mountains but I decided to use only the photos I took on this trip.

What a great video! A bit of everything: Hiking, adventure, history, wildlife, and even some lichen science. Plus a reminder to bring scissors of open those pesky little plastic bags. Thanks very much.

That sums it up nicely. I can't wait to go out there again.

Thank you. Neat to see someone using an xternal frame pack. Those muted fall colours are gorgeous.

Yes, I borrowed this one and it worked so well that I have ordered the larger version of that external frame pack. It's ideal for bigger loads.

Great videos as always Rachel! Love the history lesson too! Learned a lot. Haven’t made it to Tucks yet but it’s on my list of places to see for sure. The majesty of it can’t be captured in a photo or video though I bet. Congrats on finally seeing a moose! How exciting and and scary at the same time! Exhilarating I’d say is the word for that experience! Especially a momma with a baby like you saw which can be super dangerous. Looking forward to your next video. Always an instant watch for me! 😀 Take care.

Thanks so much. I did a lot of research and it was tricky to get the shots to match the write up I prepared. I was out there with notes. But it is rewarding to offer some tidbits of knowledge to people.

Great scenery, those trails look a little challenging. I loved that campground. Thank you.

Yeah, I talked with a guy who had continued on Tuckerman Ravine Trail to the summit of Mount Washington and then come down Lion's Head and he looked happy, relieved, and satisfied. He said it was steep and cold but worth it.

Thank you! It was awesome meeting you too and feeling the good vibe ski energy that seems to grow in that place and fly out of it like the waterfalls. I hope to go back in the snow.

That old-school pack takes me back to backpacking with my parents in the 70's. Very cool.

Yes! Thank you! It's so easy to sit in the chair by the fire but we have to keep getting out there to have a little adventure in life.

What great views and just the right amount of hiking to get all that reward. Lean too structures look great, a best choice over the platforms in the weather. How many miles and elevation gain is it up to the camp from the Joe Dodge area?
Bet you feel small at the bottom of Tuckerman’s Ravine. Hard to believe people ski down.
So happy you finally got to see your Moose… or is that Mooses? (2 for the price of 1).
    Great video as always!

1800 feet from Joe Dodge up to the shelter area. Yes, the mom and young moose were the highlight for sure, a lifetime memory!

Many thanks! It was fun to make this sort of video where I did some research ahead of time. I got the 52 book now and I'm adding places to my list.
