  • In this video, we look at the 2019 Ford F250 with the Gas 6.2l v8. I have a 2018 GMC 2500HD and wanted to share my perspective on the 2019 Ford F250 since they are often cross-shopped. The F250 is a great truck with a really nice V8 and 6-speed transmission. The Powertrain is vastly better than the GMC / Chevy trucks, but the ride quality on the GM HD trucks is superior. The interior I couldn't compare since this was a base model truck vs a high trim level on my own truck.
Let me know your thoughts on these two truck in the comment section below!

I just bought the 2020 F250 4x with 6.2l and 6 speed. I owned a 2014 Ram 2500 4x4 with the Cummins (sold) and I also still own a 2014 Ram 2500 4x2 with the Cummins. I test drove the new Rams, looked at the new Chevy/GMC, test drove the 2021 7.3 and the 2021 PSD 6.?
The 6.2 has 19500 lb GCVW and 12900 lbs towing. My heaviest trailers occasionally hit 11k, but usually are only 8500 to 9500 lbs. The 6.2 has plenty of capacity to handle them. The 1/2 ton truck just don't handle those weights on a regular basis. The diesel option is now $11000, which requires 133,000 miles of trouble free performance to just break even. If Biden raises diesel taxes for a greener world, the diesel will have to go 1/4 million miles to break even; until you factor in the DPF and crankcase filters and EGR valve and turbo and injector and pump replacements. Then it is a losing proposition. If you need 20K towing, then buy a diesel, if you can use a gas engine, save your money and the headaches associated with new diesel ownership.

you nailed it!!!! I work on heavy diesels and you couldnt pay me to own any of them. they are way overpriced and unreliable I've watched a customer order 3 kenworths another ordered 50-60 and it's just been hit or miss. every 3rd or 4th truck has dpf or def gremlins sensor after sensor going out and some dont have any issue since leaving the factory. but I'm not going to bank on getting a good one or not, because the whole emission system is set to fail at some point any way across all light duty to heavy. the biggest no brainer for me looking at the gas 250 is price I can get 2 trucks for the same price that 6.7 is going for. I just dont have enough coin to fork out 70-90k then pay for a delete lose the warranty then have to pay for parts on top of that it's just silly. many of these daily driver diesel owners will get it when their truck starts huffing a little bit of oil and it asks them to pull over and regen every 3rd stop light!

I'm not a Ford guy but these new fords f250 or 350 have caught my eye and the 7.3 is an awesome motor

Fords truck engine line up since 2011 has been real solid. The newer 7.3/6.8 and 10 speeds need to prove that they can match the reliability of the 6.2/6.7 and the 6 speed. Great era of trucks from ford. Much improved from those 2 forgettable diesels and the 5.4/4.6 days.

Those trucks in fact do not have locking hubs that NEED to be turned in for 4wd to work.
If you read the indicators on the hubs, they say auto and locked. They do not say free or unlocked. In auto, the 4x4 on the dash works just as it would in a truck with automatic hubs. Locking the hubs I think is a fail safe for the vacuum system. I could be wrong.

Good honest review, with you driving on the highway a lot the Ford would probably get old quick.but I would still choose it over the 2500 because it tows a lot better.

Definitely the Ford. I have a 2020 w/ 6.2 gas. It is not nearly as strong as the 6.7 diesel I had previously, but the 6.2 gas is more than enough for what I do on a daily basis

@@JrsGasolineAlley I actually have the 6.2L in an F150, can't go wrong with that engine! At almost 200K, it is like a new truck! The F150 for some reason tunes the engine to 411HP.

Good video. I own a GMC Sierra 2500hd, gas engine but test drove a Ford F250SD, 6.2l. I loved both trucks. I thought the GMC drove better and the only reason I went with it was because it was a 4x4, the Ford was not and I got a better deal. I have seen a lot of complaints from Ford owners about the death wobble due to the solid front axle and that was a bit of concern.

_My truck is 2019 4x4 6.2L it did have a little float/ wobble going over bumps sometimes on the freeway. I put a dual stabilizer on and kept my factor one on too. It handles like a truck from the '70s where you know and feels the steering in your hands, which I like. Everyone that had driven my truck. Before all the work this Saturday wanted to know what I did with my steering? They all loved it too. This weekend I put a 2.5 Readylift leveling on, changing out the shocks, caster shims, track bar, add anti-sway bar in the back, plus airbags. It rides completely different now. Nice and it soaks up all the bumps._

I used to own a 2014 F-250 XLT with the same more and transmission. I loved that truck. It did everything I needed it to do. I also never had anything major go wrong with it. It threw an EVAP code and that was about it. Nothing changed or acted different. Still miss that truck a little

I pull 18k 1-2 times a week and the '16 6.0 4.10 chevy I bought does it with ease from the bumper. Tried my friends '14 6.2 3.73 and it was gutless, rear suspension couldn't handle the same exact load either.

  • @UnderSprayedWhiteSkies

It's funny you said head-on view the nose looks skinny. IMO, for about the last 20 years all truck brands nose (looks) are ridiculously tall/wide. Gargantuan is my main impression. If they don't come w/an extension ladder, or at least a step ladder, as stock kit, routine engine inspections/maintenance would be a challenge.

I'm 5'10 and have to have a small single step stool to change the oil. To change spark plugs and so forth any major work a three step ladder is needed. But guess what? I can work on it!! Unlike diesels where I can barely out a fist in there.

I’ve always viewed the 2500HD vs F250 as a daily driver that can work hard vs a work truck you can drive daily. Both pretty close, but if I was doing nothing but heavy construction I’d go one way and if I was retired and pulling a camper or touring the country doing mobile welding and just needed the payload I’d go the other. Both great, their Venn Diagram is mostly overlapping, but the parts that roll off the edges are heavy work truck and comfortable daily driver on either side.

What is the gas tank size?

    • @KyleEbright
      @KyleEbright Před 29 dny

if it's the crew cab long bed form, it has a giant 48 gallon tank. Most have 34 gallon tank, which isn't shabby.

@@JrsGasolineAlley Great reply! I own an F250 and I agree with you, the ride isn’t as smooth as the GMC. IF you drive a ton of miles a bumpy ride is super obnoxious and annoying. But there are obvious advantages to the solid axle. I live in Michigan and plan on towing with my F250.
