The coast guard, in my opinion, has the most important job in the US military when it comes to our national security and border protection.

My kid got into Cape May late last night. Gonna be a bumpy ride, but couldn't be more proud!

I just graduated with papa191. I can honestly say it was the longest 8 weeks ever.... But I wouldn't have it any other way, I've learned so much and have the upmost respect for the CC's.

From what I see from this video nothing much has changed since my boot camp experience back in 1973...some things never change!!!

Im proud of you all who are making the smart choice of joining the Coast Guard team! I myself am working hard to get in myself. I take my ASVAB later this mouth & I feel as though i have a big chance so time to put my bid in. Though i live in a place in Chicago,ILLinois where there isn't too much hope for people like me, I shall not let that frolic in my path. Big Dreams(:

Man, people always say the coast guard is the easiest branch. Hell I thought I was watching marine corps boot camp for a second. The Coast Guard is highly under appreciated in my opinion. Either way they're no wimps that's for sure, way to go USCG

They gave us 5 seconds to get off the bus and 3 were already up, and the first morning we were woken to a metal trash can flying through the squadbay haha. Wouldn't change the decision to join for anything in the world! I was a Gunnersmate on a 110.

I live 2 hours from Cape May and go there every 6 months! Never knew they had basic training there!

Haha this video made me smile. Good ol' Cape May.
Anyone going to boot camp- don't let the stress get to your head. It's an extremely stressful time. But if you see boot camp for what it really is you'll have a great time.
You're staying physically fit. Well fed. And generally doing some cool stuff like fighting fires, swimming, shooting and learning all about the Coast Guard.
    Have fun!

I went through Cape May in 1985... that was a awesome summer. You also learn the the New Jersey state bird is actually the mosquito. I ended up in the Navy a few years later... USCG boot camp was way harder and more fun.
