I love how this can be interpreted as the dino having empathy for Mark and telling his friends not to kill a sentient creature that feels pain like them, or being pragmatic and warning them not to rush in since they can fight back better and just being careful.

I’m pretty sure that’s a standard for any high level creature- as it would require them to consider things beyond their immediate vision and even potentially a religious perception ((most Gods never actively show themselves as they are mysterious and prefer to work unseen))
