    I woke up to find out the UK has been voted the 2nd most miserable place on earth, so I came to Birmingham for a lovely day out. However that was short lived when I stumbled across England's dirtiest neighbourhood....I escaped immediately. A new journey then began to a new exciting country and one I have never visited! That was also short lived as I was dragged to one of the most chaotic places on earth.

      I live in Nottingham. In 2006 I dated a girl from Southampton. A weekend return ticket to Southampton cost £320. I flew to Dubai and back that same year on Virgin Atlantic for the same price. Not only were the prices astronomical the service was terrible. Leaving Southampton at 2pm Sunday got me home for 6am Monday when I need to be at work at 9. The UK is a joke.

    I go down to Plymouth quite frequently - I always go by coach [National Express]. Friendly, efficient, comfortable, refreshment stop on the way, great scenery. If you're going via London, it takes 5.5 hours. Good to catch up with mail, read or just enjoy the scenery. And if you pay for a student card, or an elder's card for a year, you get an extra third off! So a return from London to Plymouth can be as little as £30!!! They go to lots of other places too. It's magical to get the night coach to Glasgow, then take a local bus to Oban or one of the other stops in wonderful wild Argyllshire. Or head down to the South West of England, Devon and Cornwall. Forget the train!

      @@aamaldev494I have seen people from all the world drop litter in the streets in the inner city. In one district they put the rubbish out whenever they have a full bag or bin despite council notices informing them when bin day is. They put food waste and dirty unwashed out food containers in the green recycling bags so cats and wild animals tear them apart for rotting food to eat. Students are also among the biggest culprits as well.
      We can't have bottle banks and communal bins otherwise they will get contaminated. Instead we have transparent bags so bin men can see if they have been contaminated with food waste and textiles inside. We have a communal brown wheelie bin for our block of flats for food in council food bags which are biodegradable at high temperatures but people have contaminated it with food still in plastic packaging or loose so it rots on the bottom of the bin.
      I put notices on the bin that it was only to be used by people living in our block of flats and that food should be removed from plastic packaging and placed in council food bags but the food in the plastic packaging still appeared. I found out who the culprit was. He lives in the next street so I reported him to ward councillors who paid him a visit for ignoring my notices on the bin. He then stopped.
      They should bring back bottle deposits like they had decades ago until Cadburys bought Schweppes and stopped it. When the mandatory plastic bag charge was brought in single use plastic bags got sturdier as nobody was going to pay 5p for a flimsy plastic bag that splits on the way home. Some were like gossamer they were so thin. Then you started seeing far less plastic bags as litter in the streets, trees and hedges.

    WOW, really great and enjoyable video as always. The level of irony and symbolism in this video is off the chart whether you realized it or not. You start with the "finding" that "The UK is the second-most miserable nation in the world" (of course laughable on so many levels), but putting that aside, you do it from Birmingham (the City Centre no less) which during the period of the British Empire of course was one of the world's most important Industrial Revolution cities (ergo, how they could afford such a magnificent City Centre). Indeed, Birmingham's importance was shown in part in that it received a visit from Mr. Ghandi on his famous visit to Britain appealing for peaceful separation from the empire. And where do you end the video several days later - The Gateway of India - built by the British Empire to commemorate King George V visit to India for his coronation as the EMPEROR OF INDIA. Mind bending symbolism. Thank you for the experience!

    Trains were cheap until they privatised them. Used to go to London, 120 miles away, for about £2 back in the 80's

    • @lemsip207
      @lemsip207 Před 2 měsíci

      British Rail was being run down deliberately in the 80s so people would welcome privatisation. But, I would rather have the cheaper and more basic service that British Rail provided than the overpriced service with fancy gizmos that the privatised train operating companies provide. The main railway stations now look like shopping malls with somr people going there to shop and eat not catch a train. There were more frequent trains, more leg room and more carriages per train before it was privatised. Who cares if the on board refreshments were awful. Just bring your own.

      They do. There are more organised litter picks than ever before and some people pick litter as they walk their dogs every morning.
      Fly tipping is usually carried out by house clearance firms than by individuals. Their customers are unaware their old unwanted furniture and belongings have been fly tipped until council inspectors traced them and informed them. The house clearance firms then get massively fined and then their license taken away if they are licensed.
