    Their honor crush, branded as traitor, some fall to the darkness of their hearts. But those who still continue to fight for The Imperium STILL have more heart then most of those then those who live in it.

    Can you imagine how many renegade marines there are out there in the shadows after the two Primarchs were wiped from all Imperial records? For all we know there's a sub-empire in the farthest reaches of the Galaxy, as far from Terra as transhumanly possible, ruled by one or two long lost Primarchs.

  • @legionaireb

    Putting aside the fact that they are not technically recognized by any official Imperial agency, would the Legion of the Damned be appropriately classified as 'renegades,' since they fight for the Imperium, but do not answer to any Imperial authority?

      I would say that The LotD is technically Chaos since they're warp spawned at least by Imperial edict. However, since they do The Emperors work and never stick around for justification, they're technically loyal? Great question.

    • @ceresta1732
      @ceresta1732 Před 6 lety +1

      Nope. Legion of the Damned are daemons. Manifestations of the will of the God-Emperor, created in the warp by sheer scale of humanity's belief in the emperor. Think about it.

    A good short story example of Renegades is in the story: "INXAR". Space Marines who became jealous of the likes of the Ultramarines, and the Imperial Guard. In particular that they got to rule worlds directly as kings and lords. That Guardsmen got the "right of settlement" to rule a world that they liberated, and the Ultramarines getting to rule directly the realm of Ultramar. It gives an example of why someone would fall, and also that even as they swear to serve the Emperor, to rule these worlds, that it is considered unacceptable. Giving the counter point from the Chaplain that hunted them down.

    • @hitomisalazar4073
      @hitomisalazar4073 Před 6 lety

      Odd note on the Badab War, the short story "Trial of the Mantis Warriors" suggests the reason at least the Mantis Warriors renegaded not over the Administratum, but the Adeptus Mechanicus. That they believed that the Gene-Seed Tithes were involved in some untoward experiment or conspiracy.
      Edit: Which considering Primaris marines happened and Cawl and such... might not have been an unfounded fear.

    The Soul Drinkers got a raw deal especially with the mutations. The Night Lord's of the now I'd consider true Renegade. No mutations, No chaos alignment or worship with death being the consequence of doing so, and fighting simply to survive.

      they "allegedly" killed too many innocent people. I have played them as my chapter since 5th (and BA for a lot longer than that). when ever you ready the fluff or they are refereed to in a story they are regarded as well disciplined soldiers with an unnerving calm to them. However when other agents talk about them they are betrayed as berserkers and killers. the fact that Dante would have them defend Baal but not other chapter lends weight to my theory as to why they are renegades. I like to think that they got on the wrong side of a corrupted high lord etc and as such they where betrayed and declared renegades. As stated in the video they "died to a man" during the devastation of Baal.. or did they ;)

    Is there a renegade equivalent of the Guard? I don't mean the Choas-aligned Traitor Guard, but just Guardsmen who decide "Feth this shit, I'm out. Let's go kill some heretics in OUR name!" Also, can you do a video about the possible relationships between the Guard and Astartes, if any really exist? I've had this idea for my homebrew Chapter that they'd have a close relationship with the Guard unit in their nearest vicinity, even helping them train and having a battalion of rotating "Chapter Guard" assisting the serfs in defense of their fortress-monastery.

    While I had suggested in a previous video that maybe Sigmar is the 2nd Legion's Primarch sent by the Emperor to the realm of Fantasy to defeat Chaos in that dimension, there were rumors that Archaon was supposed to be the Primarch of the 11th Legion. Whether he joined Chaos to stop SIgmar, or maybe was also sent by the Emperor to subvert Chaos from within, is not known. What do you of this hypothesis?
    Is this worth a video just to add to the intrigue to what happened to them? I am sure many viewers would be inspired to give their takes on the subject, including those who believe they were simply destroyed, or exiled.

    Hey Remleiz, while the Alpha Legion is conidered one of the Traitor Legions, does it make more sense that they are Renegades? As the lore has shown, they never entered the Eye of Terra, nor has any of their number show any Mutations that the other Legions exhibit. They joined Horus on the Cabal's prediction that the Imperium would survive only by joining Horus. But now that the twin Primarchs dead, the Legion is now divided into warbands and are nothing more than pirates. If it was Chaos' plan to turn this Legion from the Emperor's side, do you believe there's any way the Legion can rejoin the Imperium and make Chaos pay for their deception? Finally, would the Night Lords also be considered Renegades for the same reason as those for the Alpha Legion?

    • @40KTheories
      @40KTheories  Před 6 lety +2

      In regards to the Alpha Legion, following the Horus Heresy the Alpha Legion would initially remain and battle within real space, though after the battle upon Eskrador (which saw the death of 'Alpharius') many Alpha Legion warriors fled into the eye while others remained hidden in real space. Those Alpha Legion warbands close to the Eye of the Maelstrom will still sometimes make use of Daemonic entities, though those further afield will not due to how unreliable maintaining daemons can be. Plus there have been Alpha Legion daemon princes (such as Voldorius or Sindri)
