- If you’ve ever made a big move across the country, you’ve probably heard locals raving about a restaurant chain you’re not familiar with, or at least haven’t tried. While plenty of fast food chains are nationwide and worldwide, there are others that are still sadly just regional, which means you have to travel quite a distance to get your hands on their food. From the fairly new fast food joint that is spreading across the country to the iconic California burger joint you’ve heard about, let’s take a look at some regional fast food restaurants that we wish were everywhere.

Which fast food restaurant that's not around you do wish was nearby?
Mashed Wendy’s
Mashed In and out burger
Mashed In N Out!!
Bill Gray's home of the world's greatest cheeseburger
Mashed torchys tacos
Whataburger?
some one right
some one Naw. Beat by Five Guy's and In-N-Out
Justin Moua.
*W R O N G*
Beat by in n out by far
Chance Whistler stop smoking crack. In n out doesn't cost $20 per burger and they have excellent service. Wb sells mediocre burgers. If In N Out was so bad, why did you people in Texas waited around the block for 3+hours for it?
You really put Taco Cabana but not What-A-Burger!?
Brian Armstrong or Bill Miller's
Taco Cabana is gross, agreed.
Stank Ranger there should never be a fast food bbq franchise, Bill Miller’s tastes like cafeteria food
Taco cabana is trash
What a burger and Five Guys get reckt by In n Out
Cheezer’s, Krusty Krab, Weenie Hut Jr., Goofy Goober, Cake and Bacon, Wing Kingdom, Krusty Burger, and The Drunken Clam...
Deandre what how do you forget about the chum bucket
Grilled cheese deluxe and every meat burritos 👌
Regular show!!
Don't forget Weenie hut medical and that one kelp shake place lol
Salty Spatoon?
You forgot Bruams. Its a fast food resturant/ grocery store/ ice cream shop. Every restuarnt less than 300 miles away from the farm in Okahoma to make sure everything is fresh
Mike Hurt Braum's should be on here for sure.
I grew up on Braum’s. Best Banana Splits. And I love the special sauce on their burgers
I live in Dallas, Texas, and Braum's was my entire childhood! I didn't (and still don't) really like ice cream, but couldn't resist Braum's. Their burgers were also bomb, much better then Whataburger (which is something hard for me, as a Texan, to say).
No Culver’s? They’re the best in the Midwest
Skerted agreed
Omg so true.
Portillos menu > Culvers menu
they're in Iowa too, don't forget. Heck I'm like 5 minutes away from one
Skerted I tried culver's when I was traveling through South Dakota. they're amazing!
You forgot Whataburger, but Kudos for mentioning Torchy's!
If you’re ever in Miami, you should try Pincho Factory. I know that it has Pincho in the name but the stars of the show are burgers there
Whataburger >>> Torchy’s.
Torchy’s is barfola.
Torchies is tacos for people who don't know a taco taste like.
Well seems to be only in the South, in which I don't get to the south at all. have never eaten there. maybe if the south decides not to vote instead of Trump I'll try going there some day. If they do then get the hell away from me as far as possible.
Torchy’s is sooo good and there queso though 👌
As an East Tennessean, thank you for mentioning Pal’s. It’s truly an experience
fax
I been to TN plenty, got family in Memphis and Nashville, but haven’t yet been to eastern TN, I been looking for friends to show me around if and when I come there. this makes 2 things to cross off the bucket list for TN. well, in your area. this, and the big one, to see the Vols. however, for the other areas of TN, gotta do Crystal.
Yasssss pal's is the best!!!! I'm eating pals rn xD
surprised things like Culver's, Chik Fil A, White Castle, and Steak N Shake aren't on here. I can kinda see Steak n Shake as it's not exactly 'fast food' per se, but the others......
fireblast133 chick-fil-a has kinda made their way nearly everywhere in the states. But I get what you mean
fireblast133 there was a steak and shake that opened near me. Their big mistake was opening 5 minutes away from an in n out. They were only open for 4 or 5 months and shit it down.
fireblast133 they put Friendlys its similar sevice to Steak n Shake.
Chick-fil-A is in every major city in the US now.
Chik Fil A is pretty much everywhere these days, In N Out is only in the western half of the country, and even then mostly in California.
Where's Culver's? Butterburgers, cheese curds and custard for life. Also Shake Shack is soooo overpriced, $5 for a tiny cup of a concrete mixer? And they hardly put any vanilla in their custard. Meanwhile I can buy a large concrete at Culver's for the same price.
Culver's is rapidly expanding nationally--I know because I see their posts on Facebook. While the cheese curds are indeed good, I prefer A&W's--Culver's curds are a bit too dry for my tastes.
Yes, Shake Shak is way overpriced.
Steak and Shake has them beat.
Culver's is the Best
I'm from nyc, and couldn't agree more, Shake Shack is way overpriced and honestly you could buy a family pack of ground beef and make burgers just as good.
Y'all forgot about Cookout, the king of the South East.
Found Cookout when I moved to Virginia. They're my favorite here.
I’m from the city where the first one opened
king of the south east? it's alright... the burgers are the only decent thing but they're a little overpriced everything else on the menu is generic
Jimothy Snooker overpriced? Bruh cookout is the cheapest fast food place of them all
Jimothy Snooker 5$ for 2 quesadillas, a chicken wrap, cole slaw, and a 32 oz sweet tea is expensive?
Where is Bojangles? This restaurant has lots of locations in NC (where I live) and a few in VA and other places. This restaurant is known for their fried chicken and biscuits. Also, their sweet tea is amazing
Bluestarslimes Yup, after a night of bar hopping, there ain't nothing better than a cajun filet biscuit!
Bojangles had more locations during it's height in the 80's and early 90's all over the southeast than it does now.
I think its a southern thing. Had it all over in SW VA where I went to college but its not in central or North VA at all
There's literally no way it had more locations in the 80s/90s. There's a bojangles every 5 miles in NC. There's literally like 40 of them in the Charlotte Mecklenburg area.
Connor Lipke I said all over the "Southeast". A number of regional franchises were bigger back then than they are now but have severely regressed such as Po' folks.
Torchy's began as a food trailer in Austin, not San Antonio. Also, how is Whataburger not on this list?!
Because Whataburger is shit.
Nic Chauvin they're better than In-N-Out on many levels. They serve great breakfast, are open 24/7, and perhaps most importantly, they serve bacon.
True but the bacon is meh
APTC APTC I agree, not the best. Wish they had bacon like Wendy's.
In N Out has nothing on Whataburger.
I'm from MD and I moved out west 20 years ago...I miss Friendly's so much! There is no ice cream place out here that compares.
what part of the west. IDK if they’re still around, but the closest thing we had out here in CA is a place called Farrell’s. just bring ear plugs or muffs if you aren’t the noisy types, cause if you came during a birthday, the zoo is coming out.
PAL’S I loooove me some Pal’s especially their cheddar rounds in the AM for breakfast
They need to sell them all day it's crazy how much they'd make
Just had Shake Shack for the first time a couple weeks ago. It's one of the best burgers I've ever had, but it's hard to justify $15 for a double cheeseburger, fries, and a small drink. Smashburger is just as good but costs about $5 less, and their Smashfries (seasoned with rosemary and garlic) puts at the top for me.
Jeff
Smashburger has the best burgers, Five Guys the best burger joint fries. Whataburger is the best in the affordable class.
SHAKE SHACK IS SO OVER HYPED. HERE IS DENVER IT IS JUST MEH!! FROZEN CRINKLE FRIES???? GTFOH! THERE A FAR BETTER LOCAL PLACES AT MUCH BETTER PRICES. THEY NEED TO GO BACK TO NYC!!!!
@@MisterMikeTexas WHATABURGER IS EQUIVILENT TO BURGER KING! WAY OVERRATED!
@@ms.b9093 Some good locations, some bad.
I wish krabby patty is everywhere man, idk
Giovani Utomo Remember to order the Krabby Patty with extra cheese!
The restaurant is called the Krusty Krab.
The burger is called the Krabby Patty.
The Krusty Krab? Sorry, but that one is not only underwater, but completely fictional.
HotWax93 wooooooooooosh
@@hotwax9376 i bet you are fun at parties
Braum's is missing from this list.
Braum's is a burger joint, ice cream parlor, and convenience store in one with locations in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas. They have really nice burgers and the best fast food shakes I've ever tried. They also have my favorite soft serve frozen yogurt.
As a Midwesterner, I would kill to have In & Out Burger stores in my town. Those burgers look damn delicious.
Raising Canes?!?!
CRISTIAN GONZALEZ one love baby
California finally got some! It’s so good.
Canes is good but Guthrie’s is better!
It's just basic chicken strips!!!!
Nova-x -force and that's why I don't understand the obsession with Chick-fil-A either.. it's just chicken.. Doesn't have amazing spices or batter.. it just taste like
A generic chicken sandwich..
Pals #1 Best Burger and Fries Fast Food
Don't agree?
Come At Me Brah
Once waited 35mins in line at Madison Square Park for SHAKE SHACK and it was well worth the wait!
I've lived in Southwest Virginia for a year now. I'm moving, and the only thing I'll miss is Pal's Sudden Service
NO WHATABURGER? THIS LIST IS BOGUS
That place is just a half assed Burger King.
Contrary to Texas's belief, no one cares about you. Split my state in two and you would be the third largest in the union.
whataburger is disgusting
Whataburger is good..but the king of Cali is CARLS JR > IN N OUT.
What about White Castle?
mike hawk That is everywhere you can get their Shity burgers in the grocery store!!!
Jon MacDonald you got to get it fresh the frozens one are ass but White Castle isn't in every state fam
They're going national pretty quickly.
Wow you have not traveled very far if you think White Castle is "everywhere."
I went to Ohio once 7 years ago and had White Castle for the first time. And in that time Texas has not seen 1 White Castle pop up in its borders besides those shitty frozen ones mentioned earlier.
White Castle sliders taste like a Mcdonalds $1 hamburger. No thanks
.
Friendly's had some problems a few years back. Having a Friendly's nearby was a consideration when I went to college (although I ultimately went to VMI, which wasn't near one.)
I have family in San Antonio, and I just came back from there about a month ago after going for a wedding (which was actually in Austin.) I had never heard of Torchy's before this video, so I feel bad that I didn't look for them while I was in either SA or Austin. At least I made sure to try Whataburger, Chick-Fil-A, and In-N-Out! (I also saw Taco Cabana but didn't go there.)
CULVERS AND PORTILLOS!!!!!
you can mail order portillos. its fantastic. missed it ever since i left the chicago area. online order a package deal with portillos and lou malnattis.
My Buddy always raves about them. I just want a chili dog and an Italian roast beef. It looks so good every time I see vids or pics
Excuse Me? CULVERS!!!!
_Fire _ OMG ikr!
It's sooooooooooooooooooooooooo good!
There used to be a Taco Cabana in Ft. Wayne, IN. I miss it SO much.
You just reminded me that I missed Torchy's this last trip to Austin. I usually always make time to go and by some of their hot sauces... anyway, cool list.
Runza, that is all that we need!
I miss jack’s and zaxby’s,never leave the south man 😩💔
Kam Yoncé did you go to Bojangles ? Because in NC is popular
And milos Only In Al
Kam Yonce - Jacks and Zaxbys are still here in Alabama. Cant imagine not having those nearby.
captain clutch yesss i loved bojangles too, kinda forgot about them 😫
Kam Yoncé ive been to a zaxbys here in southern California, Huntington Beach
Some that spread to my area that I had the pleasure of trying in different states, some not so great but still cool to try when the mood strikes in Orlando. ....Shake Shack(NY) Del Taco(AZ) Unos(CA) Cheddars(MS) Blaze Pizza (CA)
Nice video :3
Culver's has been mentioned and I will mention it again. Has reached Indiana (east of Indianapolis on Interstate 70 is my location) - great burgers , fish sandwiches, crinkle fries (all made to order and brought to your table), and frozen custard. Friendly's was on this video and tanked all over the US decades ago (including Indiana) - which is why you only find them in the east now. In-and-Out highly overrated.
PBK K it's been in Texas for at least 15 years. The quality gets worse every year
Culver's are almost everywhere now so I don't think it deserves to be on this list.
www.culvers.com/locator/view-all-locations Yes, Culver's has expanded over the past few years, but with only a few locations in some states and none in others, it is still not well-known to some. I still have to drive 40 minutes to get to one. : )
Culver’s sucks
Culver's is rapidly going national--I remember a few years ago seeing news on their Facebook page of them opening in Arizona and Texas.
No Five Guys?
Sheila Bloom and no wataburger :/
Sheila Bloom I heard 5 guys really buttfucks their customers on the price of the food and shakes!!!
Sheila Bloom it’s not regional, they are everywhere
Jon MacDonald most five guys don’t have shakes
They have exploded up here in canada its quickly becoming very popular and more and more are opening up every year. I love to eat there nice simple menu large burgers they throw the fries at you, free peanuts all you can drink
In Rochester NY there is a restaurant called Bill Grays. It’s a very small chain with around 5 stores, but the burgers are amazing. If you ever travel to the Western New York region, try stopping by Rochester to eat there. You won’t regret it.
added. list of things to do in WNY and Southern ON. been wanting to do buff/rochester.
Swenson's has one of the best rated burgers in the nation, but they only have like 7 locations around Akron, OH only, so it might be too niche. And I believe the reason In n Out doesn't want to expand is because it's impossible to keep uniformity past a certain point. The farther you get away from coast the worse the quality gets.
Portillo's and Culvers were really the only ones that people want to see....and now Culvers is just about everywhere, and Portillo's is gouging people for peppers in 5 states.
You guys forgot Whataburger
Dallas TX has almost all of these. feelsgoodman
I agree with Friendly's. I miss Burger Chef that was on Boston Rd. in Springfield.
Braum´s. It is everything that DQ is not.
travisp11 agree
So it’s good ?
Zach James Yup. Delicious.
Braums will forever stay pretty regional to Tuttle, OK. Where the family farm and current HQ is. They have a couple in neighboring states but not much.
travisp11 so it's trash?
You don’t put whataburger? 😂😂
Krawl no it’s shitty
They all look so good
If you're in Nevada or Southern California, Tacos Mexico has great burritos. If you happen to be at Disneyland and don't mind a ten minute drive, head south on Harbor Blvd. Cozy Corner at Fifth and Harbor ( maybe 4th) for the breakfast special, Double bacon cheeseburger any time. Looks like a dump but just drive through and enjoy... and there's a Tacos Mexico at First and Harbor. Best Al Pastor burrito I've ever had.
Most of these places are in Texas
Shake Shack is an overpriced version of Culver's. You can get a deluxe burger meal at Culver's for the same price as one burger at Shake Shack.
ITS SO MEH!!!!!! AND EXPENSIVE!!! NOT TO MENTION THOSE PATHETIC FROZEN BLAND CRINKLE FRIES....GTFOH WITH THAT BS!!!
Runza, Whatabuger, and Cabana Taco are needed in Iowa, now! Thank God we got Culvers in the late 90's and we are the home of Maid-Rite so we got that going for us. Wish Dog-N-Suds would come back!
We had a few Friendly's here in north east ohio. It was pretty good, but I think most of them went out business around here over the years..Their ice cream was probably the best part.
What about raising canes or Runza??????? Just completely skipped over the Midwest
tyler wilson ugh no raising canes. Chick fil a is much better.
I would say Chick-fil-A is better but you can’t beat canes sauce
tyler wilson you mean zax sauce. You uncultured swine
Jacob Long this is getting heated
we've got a Raising Canes in East Texas so i dont think it counts for the regional list
Whataburger!
We went to Whataburger while visiting my grandmother. We hated it. I guess it's a regional thing.
Friendly's? It's chain dinner food, with an emphasis on ice cream.
And while I have not been in one in a while (there is like 1 location left nearby), I don't remember it being "cheap".
As a kid I do remember being thrilled to go there because it meant both eating out and dessert.
I have to try those taco...they looked good.
Should have had culvers In there
Skyline Chili from Cincinnati, Ohio!
amv12vantage umm no.
Tim Horton’s
Goldstar!!
Zippy’s Chili here in Hawaii is pretty good.
Swensons it’s in Ohio. It’s a burger car service joint. There’s prob 4/5 locations near Akron. I drive across the country and stop when I’m there. The food is bomb. The service is fast. Give it a try if you are on the road.
I see you Mashed, saving the best for last? ")
In and out can stay west, five guys clearly is better
Jay C five guys burger with five guys fries, that’s a hall of a combo
@@tomk8972 I like five guys its just overpriced
I will take 3 double doubles from in-n-out for the price of a 5 guys combo any day
Yeah five guys is overpriced
How TF do you talk about torchies and not Whataburger I'm from Texas and i don't know anyone who ever eats at torchies
Damnit, I had the chance to visit Shake Shack in London, but me and my group were so caught up in Five Guys...
There's a shake shack in Londons Chinatown; just like Five Guys, we saw it by mere coincidence without even considering to see American joints there.
Now Five Guys is coming to Germany and I'm so hyped ^^
Hopefully more chains are daring the trip over the Atlantic :D
Shake Shack just opened up in Hong Kong, Hong Kong
Taco Cabana has gone way downhill in the past 3 years.
3 years ago they were awesome.
Now they have super low quality food.
First one that comes to my mind is fricken White Castle or In-and-Out. You once again totally missed the mark on what should be on the list.
A & W, the list goes on.
White Castle and Dick's
You've just described exactly what everyone should experience. A buddy, a crave case and explosive shits.
a&w is trash
Yuck in n out sucks... Five guy does it btr and they have BACON.
I lived in Memphis for 4.5 yrs as a kid, from 79-83. I don't remember seeing a Pal's there. What we did have was Shoney's Big Boy. It eas casual dining, not fast food. Good burgers and a nice sunday brunch buffet. Good fast food was Bojangle's, Krystal, and Sister's Chicken and Biscuits. Wish we had Bojangle's and Krystal out here in CA.
I just finished eating a quesadilla from Taco Cabana...so good! Too bad it's not in every state.
So what you’re implying is that if you’re in the Midwest or the south (other than Tennessee or Texas), you’re hosed when it comes to unique, local fast food. :/
Brandon Rout I live in Tennessee. The most local fast food is Zaxbys tbh. I never heard of pals until i saw this video there’s only a few. Mostly in rural areas
@@jacoblong3541 Pal's is only really in northeast TN (and somewhat in West Virginia). There are about 30 locations. It's more of an Appalachian TN restaurant.
Abber Kaddabber Yeah that’s the region i live in and it’s still not a popular restaurant.
Uh, all the Friendly's are going/have gone out of business. Hard to find one still open.
Kevin T they’re all over the place.
Kevin T there is a few open where I live if they're not closing
Not here in CT/Mass. I can think of a half dozen within a close radius of where I live.
I'm missing cookout. That place is so good
I don't know if Freddy's is regional but I'm pretty sure there are a bunch in the south, it's so good.
Runza, which is from Nebraska was left out. They are unique fast food place and a must if you visit the Midwest.
Um, you totally forgot Burgerville.
Oh hell ya! Get extra sauce just for the fries!
Whataburger is the best
Donavan Baxter No, it's disgusting
Hell no
Hell no. It was over hyped when I went to Texas ended up just getting in n out.
Whataburger is gross...its the burger a 350 lb. Cheeto eating liser that lives in his moms basement would eat
In n out is better!
Friendlys and shake shack are amazing.
In N Out is the only chain I've ever heard of in this list. I'd like to try them all.
Torchys!!!!!
I thought everyone had friendlys
Their service is sooooo sloooow !
Never heard of it
jeremy scungio i wish, i used to get it Randolph (MA)..but now im here in south florida and no friendlys😣😭😢
Lol I thought it was just a grocery store ice cream brand...didn't know it was a restaurant
Unfortunately, Friendly's has been in ongoing bankruptcy for a few years now. Near where I live there were three Friendly's restaurants. All three are gone. One turned into a Buffalo Wild Wings, one was razed and turned into Bonefish Grille, and the third one became some mom and pop restaurant. I can still buy their ice cream at the grocery store, but I miss the restaurants. Loved their bacon cheeseburgers.
I recall hearing about what I thought was "Taco Banana" when I was stationed at FT Hood.
We had an In-an-out burger joint in my town and they got shut down after they got an F 4 months in a row from the Health Dept.
I cannot believe that Fuddruckers didn't make this list!! Although I do admit that the quality went down when they stopped cutting up the Half beef sides every morning and grinding the patties right in front of you right beside the door.
i think part of it may be the fact fuddruckers isn't fast food. it's a sit down restaurant
I can. It's not regional. They're all across the country. There's even one in Puerto Rico.
I'v asked my facebook friends and most of them except locally have never heard of them. Also a new Five guys opened in Ashville and Fudd beats them hands down although 5 guys have an awesome Burgers and fries.
It's not fast food, so it's not on the list.
Fuddruckers isn’t fast food...but neither is Friendly’s, and these dumbasses put it on the list.
How could you forget fatburger???? (it actually exists, search it up.)
James Currie it's also in Seattle
In California too, hence not regional to make list
I moved from New England to NC and there isn’t a Friendly’s near me and I’m not missing it.
I love Shake Shack it’s so good
Zaxbys?
Os Vasquez oh yeah that shit good
Os Vasquez fuck yesss. I cant find one down here in South Florida only north Florida
There starting to grow, popping up in Texas.
Whataburger is superior to In-N-Out burger in every way except their onions.
I heard an interesting story about Taco Cabana. It was started by a pair of brothers in San Antonio. After succeeding for a number of years, the brothers had a falling out. One brother started an imitation chain called Taco Sita. Virtually clones of the original. I would stop off at the Taco Cabana location on Wurzbach Road for breakfast taco for work. When I realized I'd forgotten something, I'd simply drive half a block to the Taco Sita location on Bandera Road- same menu and prices. The brothers eventually reconcilled.
Alpaca Chicken is a really small fast-food chain located in NC. It is THE BEST. The food is so fresh and delicious, and it's a nice change from the typical burger joint. I'm terribly sad that I live so far from them. Their maduros are heavenly!
In-and-out is worth coming to the west coast for. Remember to ask for Animal style fries.
Lawrence Evans it’s in Texas. They are sellouts. Lol
noltehsu yeah any burger place that *Dosen't* sell biscuits and Gravy for breakfast Is a sellout
noltehsu they are in Texas because they buy their beef from there
Guy The GalaXII salty!
noltehsu Because they don't freeze their beef, they only drive to places where their trucks can drive within a days drive of the beef distribution plant. I'm sure there are such plants in Texas. They also do not franchise their stores nor do they sell public shares of stock, and they probably never will. While that limits their growth, they are certainly not sellouts.
No mention of the Krusty Krab?
WoodWorth That place is fictional. I googled it, seems to be related to something about pants being square and sponges for cleaning said pants.
Kanye Twitty lol
It's a fictional restaurant, you stupid fuck!
Yo mama r/woosh
Yo mama it's just a joke
I concur on Torchy's Tacos and the green chile queso. I live in Austin and it's fucking incredible.
I’ve seen pal’s in Tennessee a lot. I live in NC and I think our local chains would be Highway 55 and Pelican’s snowballs. Highway 55 is pretty good.
In n Out is more like a McDonalds or Burger King, rather than a Five Guys or Pincho Factory
TheGrimStride no it isn't far superior
Allen Saunders yes of course In N Out is better than McD and BK but it is on that tier of fast food. While the other 2 are on a different better tier
I think there above BK and McDonald’s, they don’t have a value menu that’s what separates them along with five guys, shake shacks of the world
Taco Cabana??? That place is trash!!
The thumbnail made my mouth watery
That's the perks of being a long haul truckdriver. Getting to try out all kinds of food in differant parts of the country.
In & Out is not that great. IMO.
Krusty burger
xS1M0N
go to Springfield in universal u can eat at Krustys, moe's lard lad donuts Lisa's teahouse of horrors and there is some pizza place too
No way. I'll go with Bob's Burgers. I think it's next to the funeral home.
Shake Shack is opening in Kansas City in the fall of 2018.
Mugs Up in Independence. Everything is fresh, made to order and its still got a reasonable price. Best part though is their homemade root beer. The onion rings are hand cut, hand tossed battered awesomeness and they still have fried mushrooms on the menu.
