Relic/age white plastic parts of strat

I've seen some people in youtube who age their white plastic parts just with coffee, does it work ? You'll see in this video.
Noteworthy: the parts you're seeing are original fender made (all of them coming from a mexican strat of 2009), and before put them in the coffee, I sand them out a little bit to remove the sheen.

I need to do a white pick guard and if it turns out like those parts, I'll be glad! I tried muriatic acid on chrome and it worked perfectly.

I think it depends on the material of your knobs, at least...my plastic parts always keep the white color......
