Loki is the greatest villain ever because he actually has a backstory and motivation and purpose. His evolution is heartfelt and you understand his motivation.
You might like the villains in Gotham then, they put a lot of effort into their backstories, and I've felt sorry for almost all of them at some point. I mean, there's one guy who has been a criminal from episode one, and there's no way I could ever hate him. It's not the greatest show in the world, but the villains are well done. And Riddler is a sexy beast after season 1 :P
Windso I love Loki because of his backstory and evolution, but by me it doesn't make him a great villain, but a great character. And he is a great villain because he is dangerous, intelligent, charismatic, and brought the heroes to unite against him.

Luca Bond I love Tom and think he is a brilliant actor, but winning a Golden Globe doesn't mean someone's a good actor/actress. I mean for goodness' sake, Lady Gaga won one, for a role she was horrible in and certainly didn't deserve to win over the others nominated. I'm just saying, awards don't always equal acting talent.

Let us not forget his earlier works: Suburban Shootout for 2 seasons, Miss Austen Regrets, Nicholas Nickleby, & Return to Cranford. He also did Hamlet with Kenneth Branagh (special limited performance to raise money for RADA), did "Ivanov," (Kenneth Branagh directed), and "Betrayal" on Broadway in 2019. Currently had his own show on Disney - "Loki," and is currently filming "The Essex Serpent" for the BBC. He will then go on to do a political thriller for the BBC. This man is just the BEST!
What makes Loki his best character is above all the look in his eyes and his subtle facial expressions that show what he's feeling way more than his lines.
How did you manage to ignore the Night Manager? That should be in the top 5 at least.

How did you ignore The Night Manager? It was called "perfect" and is being used to teach film students about a well-made narrative. Also, he got a Golden Globe for it. It wasn't even an honorable mention, but it should've been a place holder.

I saw Loki for the first time in the first movie of Avengers. I just fell in love with the charm on his face. He has such calm countenance and there is so much suave in his performance.

Yeah, I agree on the Skull Island part. James Concord wasn't a very good role (I'm saying this in the context of how the character was written; Tom was awesome, but Concord is a very 1-dimensioinal character)
BeyondEnchantment Nobody is questioning Tom's skills. I think he did the best he could with the character. But it is a monster movie like you said; all the characters are fairly one-dimensional. I liked Kong Skull Island, and Hiddleston was solid in it, but I do think his performances were better in for example Deep Blue Sea and The Night Manager, probably because he had more to work with. Oh, and his performance as Hank Williams should have ranked higher in my opinion.
Keep in mind, this list isn't about which movie is the best one, it's about performances, and Hiddleston's performance in Archipelago is good.

Man, the movie I Saw the Light was lacking but Tom's performance in this was riveting. I couldn't care less about Hank Williams or his life and I found myself watching this damn at 2am. The Luke the Drifter scene is still one of my favourite scenes in the entire world. Honestly, I think the movie should have been ranked higher in this top 10.
Oh damn, I'm glad you guys mentioned Only Lovers Left Alive. I almost forgot about this movie. What I loved most about it was the atmosphere and the music. RIP Anton Yelchin.

As much as I love Loki, I agree that The Night Manager should have been there AND on number 1 instead. I'm constantly sitting at the edge of my seat with that mini-series. It's so good. Hugh Laurie is brilliant in it too.

No Jonathan Pine? I'm not usually like to watch a series because watching several episodes is tiring compared to just watch 2+ hours film to understand a story. But The Night Manager is an exception and I watched the whole thing in one sitting. He's brilliant in it!
