Howard! This is such a debated topic in the various sawmill forums. I do not have much personal experience since I'm primarily cutting hardwood lumber. However, the channel, Sawing with Sandy (another great Canadian!), recently featured a product that he was testing which could be either sprayed on the blade or put in your lubricant tank, which seemed to have almost a miraculous effect on eliminating the pitch without any mechanical abrasion. I think the episode was probably 2 to 3 weeks ago.
Ahhhh - Thank you John. I'm subscribed to his channel but somehow missed that one. Maybe it's just me, but the pitch issue seems to build up worse in winter, so it's definitely something I need to deal with.
Howdy Howard. Hopefully I get through to you this time. I left a comment on your last video but it disappeared. naturally I figured I had done something wrong so I left another comment but it also disappeared. I'm not sure if my comment got confiscated by the CIA or whether your bloody squirrels ate it. Mainly I was trying to enlighten you that the squirrel wasn't swearing at you at all. He was laughing hysterically at your fruitless endevours to keep him away from the bird seed. Sometimes it's true, shit happens. Sawmills are out of my league so I will leave it to the experts to advise about your pitch problems. Didn't they make a movie about that? Pitch Perfect or something like that. Cheers.
hahaha - that's awesome. I'll remember 'Pitch Perfect' next time my sawblade fails to shed all of that. Yeah - not sure what happens but experienced the disappearing comment gremlins a few times myself. Or perhaps it's just that the squirrels have figured out another way to get even. Regardless, huge thanks for tuning in and being part of my journey!
Hey Howard, my brother rigged up a simple water valve of his LT15 that opens via a linkage when the clutch lever is moved. It looks pretty crude, but works well. When it's not -20, I'll try to remember to take a picture and send it to you.

GUARANTEED method to COMPLETELY eliminate pitch...................only cut hardwoods.
hahaha. Love it. Truth! I'm going to start now by planting a dozen acorns and getting some oak trees underway.
