Problem/Problem Solved - - A Big Log And The Mystery Of The Diving Saw Blade
Here’s a link to Woodmizer’s video on the fix and the specialty tool required. My LT 15 is 11 years old at the time of this video - and during this episode I’ll share how I had to adapt some of the advice.

    The problem with Chinese products. It's never the idea. It's the fact that they mix other alloys with their metal. This makes it very weak. They do the same thing with the plastics and rubber. That's why you can always notice a difference between Chinese and American made. The holes where the pins or bolts are will wallow out much faster.

    • @howardkettner
      @howardkettner Před 10 dny

      I arrived at the same conclusion as you. And the bulk shipping rates that an importer gets seemed to make a difference as well. All in with three buckets including the hydraulically tiltable landscape bucket, a post hole auger, ripping tooth, brush rake, thumb and quick-attach (you definitely want these last two items) the cost including freight, tax, etc was $25k CDN. bullydogequipment.com/ Ask for Tucker. Tell him that we were chatting . . . PS - I went this route because I literally could not find a used machine for $25k that I would consider bringing home. And believe me I pursued plenty over a period of probably 6 months.

      @@howardkettner Thank you for the speedy reply. I have actually been looking at that site already so that is awesome. Seeing your price, however, I can find something here in Texas that can be used more often and for harder projects for that price. Plus after watching your video a little longer, I realized I may be too big for those machines. I had wondered about that as well, I am 6'01" and 215 so I may be pushing the "cramped" a little too far for my liking. I really do appreciate your reply. @@ChristopherMueller-vh5lk Ahhhh - yes - you are absolutely correct. At any price if the machine is just too small physically, it is just not right. Much enjoyed…many thanks! Two things…1. Usually the excavators of about 2tons and up can be ordered with two speed crawler gear to make moving about quicker…I would certainly always want that option myself. 2. Many excavators are fitted with Zirc grease fittings ..particularly on the boom fittings..as they are much less susceptible to getting snapped off or broken during const work of lifting larger items. ( As an aside I had a chuckle..I watched another video on this subject, where the guy was unboxing his Chinese excavator. First he pulls out the tool box and included grease gun and the operators manual…then throws the manual across his workshop…as he knows all about these things….Then goes on a rant that..’It hasn’t even got grease fitting, usual poor Chinese standards etc, etc’….. The excavator did have grease fittings, that were clearly visible..but they were the Zirc type…he clearly didn’t know what they were!!…. Sometimes, bothering to read the manual can be quite useful!!👍)

      I just LOVE your entire comment. Still laughing about the story of the guy throwing the manual across the shop. Such a 'guy thing'. hahaha Could not get the two speed crawler gear on this one. Really miss it as my prior vintage Cat mini-ex had it. It's actually the feature I miss the most as I navigate around our little 20-acre plot. And - yes - I hear you on the Zirc fittings. Mine came with them and I think I still have them in a box here. Thought I was being soooooo clever in swapping them out for the usual non-flush fittings - and guess what. Within weeks I broke the one of the bottom of the boom. Huge thanks for tuning in . . .

    We have 2023 1140/GMC 1ton. Agree on every item but wet bath solves bath water issues. Dry bath shower is nice wardrobe if you get wet bath. Wet is easy easy cleanup. Fridge pilot is pain, agree totally- we usually while travelling check by listening to gas hiss noise at black grill at exterior- dont have/ need slide awning- we learned never leave any awning out when away so avoided that issue. You nailed every item we have seen except our table up/down handle wont lock in. Thanks- BTW, bought cheap gas sensor tester on amazon and found tiny leak in propane tank compartment that made detector go off- Thanks for confirming every item to a tee we have seen. Seen some that got ripped off when folks leave them out for the day. Thanks for the tip on the gas lead sensor tester from Amazon. Because of your comment I've just ordered one. If you're in Canada, Bully Dog Equipment in Vancouver. But there are a number of other distributors throughout Canada and the US. The only thing I'd advise is that you check out their Google reviews and ask for other buyer references. Bully Dog offered to let me to even go and see one of their machines in action with one of their clients. As with anything there are good actors and bad actors. I very narrowly avoided buying a machine of a dealer with a bad reputation. Bully Dog on the other hand has and excellent reputation - returning calls promptly and going above and beyond in terms of service and support.

      Sadly - it does not have a hi speed like a comparable Cat, John Deere, etc. One of the 'economies' that reflects in the lower price. It's one of my only complaints about the machine. It's top speed is literally something like 1 or 1.2 km/hour which is less than 1 mph. Thanks for tuning in!

      Definitely needed to make some changes. Bigger wheels and 10-ply tires. Added 3 overload springs and replaced the stock torsion bar. PS - my first step was to try airbags. A total waste of money. They mount inboard of the springs and instead of increasing stability they created a side-to-side roll effect coming out of the corner - i.e. one side would compress, and then 'bounce' the weight off the other side, etc. etc. Not a good feeling . . . Thanks for tuning in. Hope this helps.

It’s a great piece of equipment, but it is not for the faint of heart. I am impressed, but please don’t set yourself in Coral on fire until we get to meet you guys at the Equip Expo this year.

On the hydraulics - the cost/benefit to doing anything about that is probably not there - unless it worsens. My sense is that it would start with repacking and perhaps reboring the lift cylinders. I operated far worse in my youth. Definitely need to get that starter in tho. It's fixed and now it's just a matter of stringing new cables, new battery etc. Thanks for being part of my journey . . .

I've seen a lot of other people complain about it too on other videos to. And a lot of people don't like it but won't say anything. A lot of people also don't like music during tractor videos. They like to hear the equipment and dialogue. Please please please please please don't do that ridiculous trick photography either. They found out that only one out of every 27 people that don't like something will ever say anything about it. So multiply every negative comment by 27 to find out what people really think. Just because you can do all that fancy stuff doesn't mean that you should. And if you don't want honest helpful comments then turn the comments off. But I want to find out more about the machine.

      Great point - thanks for tuning in. What happens often is that I shoot a video in the moment, unscripted when a situation comes up that I think might interest viewers. Often I intend it to be a short (which must be shot in vertical mode) and then later I realize that there is more relevant content to be included, so the short becomes long-form (horizontal/landscape). I know this does not change the irritation factor, but just wanted you and other viewers to know that it is not done intentionally. PS - and again, I agree with you - I'm sure that what you mention irritates others too. As the saying goes in politics, one letter of complaint reflects the attitudes of at least 100 others . . .

    First off, the log loader should be on the operator's side of the mill so when the logs roll off of it onto the mill, they stop at the log rest. Second, it should be installed even with the bunks so those small arms drop across to the bunk closing that gap..

    Good morning Howard, did your eg100 come with the dust try in the bottom under the equipment? Mine just got shipped, paperwork shows it but not shipped. Did woodmizer get you the proper scale? Great video sir

    • @howardkettner
      @howardkettner Před měsícem

      Mine did not come with the dust tray either. Showed it but they said that they don't ship with that anymore. Also, and I think I mention it in one of the Woodmizer videos, there was no ability to hook up the emergency stop button. And no one from Woodmizer could tell me how to resolve that issue, despite repeated requests. Just a couple of minor issues tho that prevent me from giving it a full 5 stars out of 5. Overall, love it tho. Enjoy! Thanks for tuning in . . .

    U must have a bad grease cylinder if u gotta keep tensioning the track! Its bleeding off or u have a bad bearing on final drive.When everything is right u shouldn't have to have the tracks real tite just a little deflection they work better loose.

    • @howardkettner
      @howardkettner Před měsícem

      I think that somehow, when I removed the fitting and compressed the cylinder to get the track off etc. it retained air in the cylinder. When I put the track back on and pumped the grease till track tightened according to specs, it was a 'fake tight' - meaning that as soon as I travelled a bit, the air just would not hold it tight? Before I put track back on in my hillside adventure, I removed the grease fitting, then put it back in and tightened it, then pumped grease in and the good news is that its been holding ever since. Thanks for tuning in and commenting.

    I am guessing video streaming and upload would drain batteries faster than reading an article. More data in block of time would likely increase battery drain vs low data text reading.

    • @howardkettner
      @howardkettner Před měsícem

      Interesting that you mention that. Just yesterday I was on a couple of geek forums where the participants were stating that streaming and uploading definitely use more power than for example reading or working on spreadsheet or word documents. Thanks for tuning in and being part of the conversation.

    Hi Howard, still making modes on my Excavator. I am curious on how the steering is with the new drive motors. Tucker at bully dog is working with me to resolve an under power turning ability on my machine(I believe the next version that came out after yours) With tracks extended she does not turn unless in forward motion. So in short how is the steering with those new drives? It is very refreshing to watch your videos. I am Glad that Tucker at BullyDog works hard to make sure there is customer satisfaction.

    • @howardkettner
      @howardkettner Před měsícem

      The steering is and always has been excellent. I can turn without moving forward. My tracks do not extend, so maybe that is part of the issue? Tucker does work hard to put things right for sure. Thanks as always for tuning in to the channel

    And the older you're RV, the longer it will take to find your parts and eventually (like with Teton) if they go out of business, you might not be able to get the part at all. We were stuck for weeks & even 3 months waiting for someone to find or FABRICATE what's needed and then come out to where you are because you can't get the slide in to take it to the RV repair place.

    I had the same problem with vintage truck parts. I have no idea why American companies charge so much for shipping to Canada. I've shipped a lot of parts to the US and it's not that much more than shipping within Canada. Is the actual shipping cost from the US really that much, or are they ripping us off?

    • @howardkettner
      @howardkettner Před měsícem

      And then to get burned another $40 in Canadian customs duties for a $68 US part is the proverbial icing on the cake . . . At the end of the day when I had time to reflect back, I can actually see why the first vendor I found (the one that had the part for about $30 US) did not ship. Can you imagine the customer hassle/complaint paying over $100 (shipping and customs) for that $30 part - where they make maybe a $10 markup. #notworthit

Working on the tractor together.
