- "Sailing" is a song composed by Gavin Sutherland of the Sutherland Brothers in 1972, best known as a 1975 international hit for Rod Stewart.
The Shadows made a great instrumental version in 1986 for their “Moonlight Shadows” album.
My cover in based on The Shadows version and is currently my 15th Cover from this album - just one left to do.!

note my ending is AD-LIB as Hank’s ending was also AD-LIB and it’s difficult to follow other people’s AD-LIB’s 😊
Played on my Alan Brason Custom Stratocaster with Kinman FV-HMS pickups on bridge position.
Through an Alesis Quadraverb Q2 WITH Echoes from the past (EFTP) Patch 0-36 into Cubase SX 6
On the computer.
Video’s recorded with 3 Panasonic 4K VX870 Camcorders and edited with the Cubase sound in Sony Vegas pro 14.

A very meaningful & beautiful music deep in my heart, always remind me the 80's when i was a kid & my dad was a sailor, normally 2-3 months only returned once, then leave home again after several weeks. Thank you Mr. Phil McGarrick & Rod Steward (and his MTV)

Hi Phil, must admit I got an overdose of this song -75-76... 😁 It was played everywhere and I stopped listening to Rod Stewart. After hearing your beautiful rendition played with so much feeling, I maybe should give him another chance again. Or not...think I play your version instead! 👍 👍
