Hello artists and artsy friends! I know the holiday’s festivities are in full swing and I’m hoping that this video finds you taking a few moments to yourself. Grab a cup of something warm to drink and sit back as the gentle bubbling creek, the atmospheric forest and the process of painting helps to take away some unnecessary stress!
I’ve put together this video to help isolate some struggles you may be having about using values, creating your composition and keeping the focus on your center of interest.
Sit back, relax, and listen to the trout in the creek and find some repose. Hopefully along the way you pick up a painting tip or two!

Jessica: I love painting late Fall … settings that most would not see as beautiful. Oil…some wet on wet but, difficult…dries for 4-7 .days. Your technique helps muchly.
You've done a wonderful job of capturing the mood and feel of this place and time. A very beautiful rendering. I always struggle with autumn landscapes, but learned a lot from watching this video, getting that "gray" background in, and rendering the trees. Thanks Jessica for sharing. I love your videos.

I always become frustrated when at the end of the painting, you do not show it in the camera as a closeup. This is a beautiful painting I'm sure...

When using paint, why not use linseed oil?
