- Riding Wolverine, one of Sentiers Du Moulin's most technical double black diamond downhill trail. This trail has 4 Pro Line features, which are Rated harder than a double black. Wolverine is located on the Maelstrom side of a with Rock Slabs, Skinnies, Drops, and Technical descents, this trail has it all!
Sentiers du Moulin is located just outside Quebec city. The Builders of the SDM bike Park have been developing some of the most impressive enduro and downhill mountain bike trails in North America. This place flies way under the radar outside of the area, but we'll be hearing more about it in the years to come.

Man, I just love how quiet your bike is! No chain slap, no internal cables flapping away (my biggest issue), and no angry bee rear hub! Just the sound of the tires on the dirt and sometimes the suspension doing its thing. Love it!
He shortly explained what he has done about the inner cables. Not sure which vid this was but was something about using foam i think
I enjoy the hub sound, but I've also noticed how much quieter its been since he rigged his cables ... Hopefully GT saw and will fix going forward, especially since it's a cheap expense.
@@GoobyGobe It was his last video from 6 days ago (mini Whistler in Quebec). Hailey was actually the one who diagnosed it if I recall correctly.

Hailey's progression the last 2 years is really impressive!
Her jumping has really impressed me. I would rather see someone hit smaller jumps with goof control than see people hucking big jumps with no control. I see plenty of people who fall into the latter and it scares me. This year something has clicked and Hailey is jumping with way more control than I've ever seen her. It's great to see

Amazing how many people he inspired to ride ... I was in the hospital for almost a month when I found his channel. Didn't even know bike parks existed, so binged Phil, Seth and Nate Hills. Didn't know if I was gonna make it outta that hospital alive, but if I did, I knew I wanted to get into riding ASAP.
Now I'm at a bike park pretty much every week (mostly Thunder, Killington and Mountain Creek).

This trail is EXACTLY the type of trail I love to ride, both up and down! It actually takes bike skill to ride the tech. I get so tired of riders just bombing easier downhills on CZcams! This is what mountain bike riding is all about, Phil!! Great video, Phil!
Thanks Randy. They have access to some really cool terrain here. There's another trail called Magneto which is a bit slower but more technical especially if you take all the extra credit line.

Man this trail looks like so much fun. Some of it I probably wouldn’t be able to do at my skill level but I love the slab rock everywhere and the technical aspect of it so much. I’m living vicariously through all of you CZcamsrs at the moment cause I am injured and trying to recover so no riding for me 😕
Wolverine is a bit hard for me too but it's one of the tougher over there...there's a lot of easier trails that this, with rock and slab, that are super fun! ;)

Nice one Phil! Now you have to come back to try Granitosaur, Velociraptor and Magneto. At E47 put Descente du Coude, Nosferatu, Pad Religion and Haute-Valkyrie on your itinerary
Granitosaur and Slab city are in the next video :) We weren't planning on riding another day at SDM but we had so much fun that we had to come back.
@@SkillsWithPhil Sentiers is amazing ... Never been to Whistler/BC, but at least from Killington to Kanuga, and everything in between, there's nothing like it.
SDM is awesome but Nosferatu should definitely be your next stop at E47. Best new track in the region this year in my opinion and taste! About the same length as the kingkong but steeper and 30ish + gaps and drops! Really nice build!
Yeah E47 is in general an easier place than Sentier du Moulin but now they have some big trails...Nosferatu would have been perfect for Phil, big drops, jumps and gaps! I don't know if he went but I don't think so... Hope I'm wrong! :P

Hey phil I am a new viewer. I am from denmark and I really like you videos. I am starting to get into moutain biking but I don't know where to start considering we don't really have designated tracks is there any tips you have for people just starting out.

I've been doing the Wolverine dozens of time and it's crazy to see you gap some of theses things. Hailey did great too, not an easy one no nails first time
Wolverine was really freaking cool. I'd like to go back and try it without stopping now that i know it better. Oddly enough i kind of enjoyed the climb out and back to haute maelstrom almost more. That stuff was super fun and different.
What other trails besides Sdm and bromont would you recommend i check out in Quebec if i had back? I have wolf park, e47, VBN and le massif on my radar at some point

-Massif only existed for the past two years, super fast and flowy intermediate mountain with a little bit of black diamond only...But the view is amazing
-E47 is very progressive, some black like the Pad Religion are great as well as some of the double black like the Descente du Coude and Nosferatu
-VBN is more of an adventure place, the Boréal + Légende lap makes you ride in a river with an amazing view on the valley. The Neilson Est, North, South is probably the greatest journey in all Quebec, 32km with some of the best panorama when riding a couples kms next to the Neilson River. Got a big jumpline named Godzilla too
-Wolf Bike Park is a small place with big jumps for people to learn and progress, you can spend a couples hours there but there's only a few lines so it's a bit harder to justify a full day there
Don't want to promote my own stuff but I have videos of most of the trails I just talked filmed on the channel if you want a quick idea, keep it up Phil
@@FreerideQuebec I was actually going through your videos! It's hard to get a lay of the land without sometimes experiencing a place. In Vermont everybody loves to talk about the kingdom trails, but as a vermonter I rarely go there. Nosfaratu was mentioned by another commenter so that's on my bucket list, but you confirmed my thoughts about wolf bike park being a bit small. I'm going to have to reference your comment, because it was super helpful!

It is known for the world cup DH track but there is some slow tech nasty double black diamond such as the 1837, Tak-tak and Chomeuse comparable to the LB2 at Sentiers du Moulin that are a must for any skilled rider. Everything can by ridden on an enduro bike
@@SkillsWithPhil Another vote for MSA ! I'd say go through Tordue, 1837, Chomeuse then World Cup, in order. I think it would give you a pretty good idea of the place ! Also as good as you are on your Force, you *might* want to try to secure a DH bike to ride there, its pretty legit ! Its plenty rideable with a big enduro but hey :P
Since youre in quebec. You should make a trip to bromont. Idk if you ever went there. Its amazing. 2h30 from quebec
So much moisture there, how grippy was the dirt, HERO DIRT? great video!!!
The rock was grippier than the dirt! Most of the dirt was dark organic dirt that can be pretty slippery!
@Skills With Phil Another great video in an awesome park. You should check out the fast growing Wheelerville Trail System in Coroga Lake NY. Amazing downhill trails with a little bit of everything. Fun/easy climbing trails and close enough to stop by the old forge area while you are here.

That’s a shame there’s two pro lines that were just built. I took a huge spill and got a concussion so wasn’t able to finish, you guys will definitely have to go back for another trip. I live in new York and I’m shocked at how close it is and how amazing the riding is

Hey Phil, I just recently found your channel and I was wondering what a good relatively cheap mountain bike for a begginer wanting to get into riding more would be. I’m only 14 so I don’t have a whole lot of money but I have Christmas and a birthday and want to bike more with a better bike because mine is pretty heavy. Also, I was wondering what I should know about biking before I try to get into it. Thanks in advance.
Nice riding! If you want to ride something like the Klondike climb but better (aka downhill!), you have to try Slab City. 😉
I have one more video comming. We wanted to try and do Slab city this ride, but given how humid it was that day, our energy levels were low by that point. We ended up staying another day just to ride Slab city and I'm glad we did :)

I wish i went tuesday to meet you. I'm riding there next tuesday. I live an hour away, towards Trois-Rivieres. If you have a chance to explore, check out Mont SM near Shawinigan. It's a super well built park, about 1.5 hour from SDM. Enjoy your stay in Québec.

Hey Phil, I assume you are still using the Onyx Vesper rear hub? Just wondering if you experience a lot of pedal kickback in the rough stuff since it is an instant engagement design. I have wanted to go with a silent instant hub, but the thought (and sometimes talked about) chance of pedal kickback has me hesitant... I remember riding an old Jamis Bam years ago that a buddy had, and it suffered really bad from pedal kickback in rock gardens and even when landing jumps to flat....It was a very unsettling feeling :/ Thanks for your help :)
