- In July 2020 we spent a week in the Dolomites in Italy. This video will show you the most beautiful and easily accessible spots of this part of the alps, together with the photos I took and the camera settings I used to get the shots. Fun fact: On this trip I used my 24-104 mm lens for 99% of the photos I took, only once I had to switch to the wider 16 mm while a few times I used the 70-300 mm for distant mountain landscapes!

Locations in the Video:
0:00 Intro
1:40 Seiser Alm
3:26 Seceda
5:00 Grödner Joch
6:56 Sella Joch
8:12 Lago Antorno
9:02 Dürrensee
10:10 Pragser Wildsee
10:59 Passo di Giau
12:18 Cinque Torri
13:37 Drei Zinnen
For the first half of the Dolomites trip we stayed in St. Ulrich in the Val Gardena. That is because from this little village you can easily visit a lot of awesome spots like the Seceda, the St. Magdalena Chapel, the Karersee, the Seiser Alm ord the Grödner Joch.
Sadly, during this one week trip the weather was not that great. Still, on the first day we tried our luck and went up the mountain with a cable car to go hiking around the Seiser Alm. We waited for sunset to get the best light possible, took a few photos and then hiked down to St. Ulrich.
For day two we planned on visiting the famous Seceda. This is a cool photo location, even during daytime, but be prepared for a loot of other photographers, so you might have to wait to get your own spot.
For the evening of day two, we drove up the Grödner Joch to capture some car light trail photos. That is because from up here you have a fantastic view over the Val Gardena with a nice alpine road leading through the valley.
For the last evening in St. Ulrich we decided to visit the Sella Joch for another round of car light trail photos since the weather was not that great again. It is much like the Grödner Joch, only there less road visible. Still a lovely place to take long exposure images.
After the first half of our trip, we changed the location and drove to the Lago Antorno which lies right underneath the Drei Zinnen. We stayed right next to the lake which made it easy to get good shots at sunrise.
Again, from this location you can reach many more spots with your car like the Dürrensee, Pragser Wildsee, Cinque Torri, Passo di Giau and of course the Drei Zinnen. We started by visiting the Dürrensee and the Pragser Wildsee early in the morning to avoid crowds (that didn’t work well :( )
In the evening we decided to visit the Passo di Giau since the weather started to get worse again. Here was another great opportunity for long exposure car light trail photos since you have a great view over another mountain road.
For some daytime long exposure photos, we went to the cinque torri rock formation which looks awesome under blurry, long exposure clouds. This looks even better, with dramatic storm clouds!
On the last day we went up to the Drei Zinnen. Our plan was to do a full hike around the mountains starting at sunset and ending sometime around midnight to do some astrophotography as well. Sadly, the weather got really bad and we decided to get back to the gar shortly before sunset to not get ourselves in danger. - Krátké a kreslené filmy

Thank you so much Daniel! The Dolomites are truely amazing, I hope I can get back soon for another session there :-)
Nicely done. Thank you so much for the information. I am preparing for photography trip to Dolomites in near future. And thanks for providing the month of the photography taken. July appears fine for the photography there.
Oh thats sound so cool, you will have a great time in the Dolomites! I hope I can get back this year :-)
Sehr schön gemacht. Danke dir :-)
Danke dir vielmals Amit!! :-)
Very nice video, wonderful shots and amazing places! Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best but you managed to get great pictures!

@@ThePhlogPhotography yeap. Also, I'm happy you went to Italy :)
i like your video
Thank you!
Beautiful video, and thanks for sharing useful location information for the photography. Which trail is in 5:18? I couldn't figure out this location. It's somewhere near the pass but it looks like you took a hiking trail. Thanks in advance!
Thank you! This trail is right on top the Grödner Joch next to the parking lot!
@@ThePhlogPhotography Thanks! I got it now..
Hey, Thanks for introducing some of the places to visit on the map and name of places to visit. Please do the more in-depth video on hiking trails /less well known photo spots
Thank you very much! I will try my best to do a detailed video about the more hidden spots sometime around July next year when I get back to the Dolomites!
Schönes Video :) Wenn es das schon letztes Jahr gegeben hätte, hätte ich mir einiges an Zeit gespart die Spots zusammenzusuchen. Habe fast die gleichen besucht :)
Vielen lieben Dank! :-) Ich wollts tatsächlich letztes Jahr schon machen, aber hatte da keine ordentliche Videokamera dabei leider :/
Nice video :)
Thank you so much!
Wahouuuu, amazing video with all informations I needed, you are a legend 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Just negative point : the quality due to compression or your camera? (phone?)
Exifs : sony but I saw you are shooting with Canon 😉, thanks again, keep going like that it s perfect
Thank you so much Jeremy!
I hope thats due to compression, but its also my first time shooting a video like this, so theres a lot of learning involved. Hope the next one will be better :D
Nice catch by the way, haha. I used the canon to 'fake' the shooting, since I recorded the video with the Sony.
wonderful shots and amazing places. When is the best season to shoot there?
I want to do the trip you did and the weather is very important for photography.
A clear sky is boring.
thanks
Thank you so much! I had the best luck in July, but the nature might not be that interessting. In the spring you get some nice flowers while autumn is awesome for the colorful trees. If it's the first time you're visiting the Dolomites, I would say go in July to get used to the area while temperatures are stille nice and the weather is mostly good!
@@ThePhlogPhotography thank you
Finde deine Videos echt mega gut !
I went there a month ago with my GF, truly breathtaking! The pictures i took weren't that good tho.. haha
The Dolomites are awesome! Hope you had some good weather and a great time there! :-)
What lenses do you recommend on a Dolimites trip ??
You want to cover a huge focal length range. Most importantly, I would say bring a wide angle lens for the mountain lakes or if you're planning on visiting the Drei Zinnen Close up (I had trouble capturing them at 16mm, being rather close to those peaks). Generally, in the mountains having a tele lens (I use the Sigma 70-300mm) will help you get closer shots of the peaks.
TL:DR: I would bring a 16-35mm, a 24-105 mm and a 70-300mm to cover a wide range
Are you allowed to go off the marked path?
You can go where ever you want here as long as you arent entering private property as far as Im aware :-)
Wo genau ist der Spot beim Grödner Joch?
Das ist am obersten Punkt wenn du mit dem Auto hochfährst. Du kannst dort einfach parken und loslaufen, von überall hast du eine tolle Sicht über die Straße!
@@ThePhlogPhotography Danke!
Hast Du nicht mit einer Canon fotografiert?
Canon und sony :-)
